Cap's last line, "Avengers..." was a deliberate tease for comics fans. 'Avengers Assemble' is famous as the team's rallying cry, and by the time this came out all of us were wondering when we would finally hear it. As it turns out, we would have to wait a while longer yet.

I love Hawkeye's little talk with Wanda. "The city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes any sense." It's a little tongue in cheek nod to just how ridiculous it all is... and yet watching it, you're totally invested in the moment and characters.

One of the best easter eggs in the MCU happened near the end of the movie, 22:21 when Natasha is on FaceTime with Barton's wife while she's holding her new born baby. The baby is wearing a shirt with his name Nathaniel Pietro Barton, in honor of Pietro's sacrifice of saving Clint.

I like the subtlety of how his experience shapes Tony's way of thinking. Ultron is the product of Stark's anxiety. The only way Tony knows to deal with his feelings is tinker with stuff, so he keeps building and advancing his 'toys' as we saw in Iron Man 3. The space hole in Avengers really haunts him. That's why he builds the Iron Legion. That's why when he found the stone, he immediately wants to put it in Ultron.

The best part of this film is the character development - especially of Natasha and Clint. We also see the underlying conflicts between the Avengers - especially between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Both of them are convinced that they're always right, yet they don't see eye to eye about much.

A small history lesson for you guys! NO SPOILERS, I PROMISE.
(A lesson to be Continued some other time to avoid spoilers for you 2!!!!)
At one point in time, like in the 90s, Marvel had gone bankrupt and sold some of its characters for other studios, like X-men, Fantastic Four,.... In this movie, they introduced Pietro and Wanda Maximoff. These 2 belong with the X-Men in the Marvel Comics, but since Marvel Studios did not have the rights to these characters in 2015, when Age of Ultron movie was done, because as I said before: X-men were Fox studios property, Marvel could NOT use both of Pietro and Wanda, due to some sort of deal and contract issues. That's why Pietro was killed off in this movie.
However, in 2019, Disney (current owner of Marvel Studios) bought Fox studios, hence all X-men and Fantastic Four, which were Fox properties, are now a Disney property (Marvel Studios property, which is AWESOME!!!!)
Advice: You guys should check out X-men and Fantastic Four movies at the same time of your MCU watch along. Don't worry these 3 franchises WON'T spoil each other for you. But you should definitely watch them NOW for you to enjoy RECENT MCU projects. (I am being ambiguous to avoid spoilers.)

James Spader was the voice of Ultron. He's a phenomenal actor. He starred in the legal drama Boston Legal. In nearly every episode he would give a closing argument that was a joy to behold. It was my favorite law themed TV series and was almost as much a comedy as it was a drama. Very much worth checking out.
In the comics, Wanda and Pietro (the "enhanced" twins) were part of both the Avengers and The X-Men. So, even though the properties were owned by two seaparate studios (at the time), both had access to the characters. So, there's another version of Pietro/Quicksilver in the X-Men movies.

I think I can say this without spoiling anything at this point; the Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, and Civil War were written to be a trilogy unto themselves. Having so much of the same cast and crew, they had more production time if they put filler movies in between them, thus the placement of Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man. Both movies accomplished important things. The Guardians of the Galaxy gave us a more proper understanding of infinity stones which was important knowledge for Age of Ultron. Otherwise it would have made more sense to have the Guardians movie come later. Ant Man was originally planned to be introduced in phase one but it did not work out so it made sense to put his movie before Civil War.

Love your journey along the Mcu the movies are getting better. When you guys started the walking dead, i would comment to watch this series. Glad you guys are enjoying the movies. Please watch the X-men series, the character rights were sold from marvel to fox in the 2000s which is why Disney never made a movie about them. Over 20 years they would release an X-men movie a lot of content you can catch up on. Also tony is afraid of what he doesn’t know, he doesn’t know anything about space and what’s up there….

thoroughly enjoying rewatching these with you guys. The characters of Wanda (Scarlet witch) and quicksilver are from the x-men universe, children of Magneto. Disney Marvel could only negotiate the longterm rights to one of them, while the x-men series of films got the other, which is why they had to kill off Quicksilver in this series of films. It's riffed off of in later Marvel media, jokingly playing with the silliness of the character rights.
seperately, my cousin worked on hair and makeup for Vision/Jarvis, and i was very disappointed to find out my mother had visited her on set while this was being filmed, and neglected to mention it till well after the film had come out...she hates scifi and comic book stuff😅

Just FYI, because Marvel sold the rights to their most successful characters like the Fantastic Four and The X-Men (to Fox), Spiderman (to Sony) and the Hulk (to Universal) Marvel has had to make due with their B-Class heroes like Ironman and Capt. America. There is even a Capt. America movie staring J.D. Salinger's son from 1990. It's really worth a watch. But despite Disney purchasing Marvel and Fox and making a deal with Sony for Spiderman there are still some inconsistencies due to characters appearing in different IPs in movies created by different studios. For example, Wanda and her brother Pietro are Mutants and part of The X-Men in the comics. Magneto considers them his children. But the point is Quicksilver appears in Fox's X-Men movies like Days of Future Past as a Mutant. Marvel has attempted to retconn the Maximov twin's origin story by claiming they were "mutated" by the Mind Stone without actually referring to them as Mutants in MCU movies. Also, beware of the two Quicksilvers when you get to Wandavision.

A number of Scarlett Johansson's scripts for these movies have ... not done her justice. Certainly her script in Iron Man was just awful. Winter Soldier has her really shine. Endgame has her really shine. Other appearances have been maybe not so great. On balance, IMO she had some strong stuff in this film, but certainly there is room for complaints.
