      They're localized to the Peedee fossil formation in NC/SC, however there are modern day sea biscuits in the Caribbean. Thanks for watching!

      I've been hearing so much about Holden that I just had to check it out. The biscuits are everywhere but are so fun to find! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that murex too. They're absolute monsters compared to the apple/lace murexes. Thanks for watching!

    Hello, just wanted to say that I absolutely lovvvvve your videos & can’t wait to see more. My daughter & I are going to be heading that way in a month or so & was wondering if you could Please tell m what you are using for filming, is it ur phone or a GoPro? The lighting just seems so good, seems to really light up a large area when you are shelling before sun comes up. I’m thinking about getting something & was wanting something that I could put on my head so my hand would be free. I need a good, dependable light that is bright, & lights up large area & I may do a little filming too. What would you recommend?

    • @shellstories
      @shellstories  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! For lighting I use these two headlamps interchangeably: tinyurl.com/cm45xz48
      tinyurl.com/bdhyjbeb
      They're both great, however I've found the battery life to be a little underwhelming, so bring a spare light or batteries if you're going earlier than 3 hours before sunrise. For filming I use a Sony a6700 camera w/18-135 lens. You absolutely don't need a camera like this to do some filming (phone will do just fine), but I bought it for photography which is another one of my hobbies, so I shoot my videos with it too. Happy shelling and I hope you find tons of awesome stuff!

    What’s a sea biscuit? Never heard of them before. I live in Illinois.

    • @shellstories

      It's a colloquial term used to describe an extinct species of echinoderm (a type of sea urchin). This species is extinct and the beach found specimens are millions of years old. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

      In NC they're usually mossy arks, and they're so common I don't personally feel the need to have to pick them up every time I go. They are still a neat species though!
