HEY EVERYONE!!! SO I UPLOADED AN UPDATED SHORT FAUX LOC ROUTINE!!! NO MORE BURNING THE ENDS, NO MORE STIFFNESS, AND NO MORE LOOSING THOSE EDGES! LINK IS IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX!
OMG this was great!!!! I'm doing these on a client tomorrow and was trying to find an easier way instead of braiding the hair all the way down and then going back to do the wrap and loc method. You're a life. saver
I have faux locs but I did mine using braiding hair and then wrapping with Marley... I'm glad you posted this because now I can save money when I do these in my boyfriends head... Thanks for the video, it was a great help love.
girl omg i am so thankful for this video! Everyone else does braids or twists with kanekalon hair first before they wrap it with dread it with marley hair. Which is basically double the work!! So yay!
Girl I'm glade I found your video tutorial because my bestfriend want me to do the same to her hair and I was like girl I don't know how to do all that. but you made it seen so easy to do but I think I got it lol for it to be my first time ever doing them...... but thanks for this tutorial I really needed It........ LIFE SAVER!!!!!! P.S I LOVE THE LOCS TOO!!
So, I've watched about 5-6 videos about Faux Locs with Marley Hair. This is by far my favorite. Main concerns were: ease of installation, flexibility of twists, price of hair and time. This is a pretty accurate, so i'm probably gonna take this on in a couple weeks.
this is the best tutorial/method the other ones show people doring a marley twist and then doing the loc on top... but why when it can be done this way and not be heavy... Im soooooo doing this! thanks!!
So glad to finally meet the girl behind the pic that everybody has sent me (I'm a stylist) so many people are in love with this style so thank you for the tutorial video!!
So glad I found your tutorial, I'm getting ready to try this style on my hair for the first time. Everyone else has very thick locs and I didn't want my sections that big or big locs. You have the length I want and thickness of parts, now I know I'll be getting the right amount of hair. They look fabulous! Thanks again!
You did a great job on your hair. I am going to try them in my hair, because i want dreads so bad, but my hair still has perm in it and i have to wait awhile longer because i dont want to cut my hair off and start over. Thank you for the video.
I have my hair naturally loc but this is a great video for those who aren't sure they want to loc their own natural hair. Also u have natural beauty without make up
I always thought this style was way more complicated then this but I see it's not now. I've just started doing different things so this will definitely be a new project. Thanks for the tutorial.... Your locs are amazing
Hi hun! Thx for this vid!! I made a serious attempt to do my hair & it turned out perfect! I've had at least 6 people ask me how much I charge to do this style. I'm scared to do anyone else's hair tho. However I did refer ALL 6 of them to this vid! Thx again for your time, cus I know you were dog tired!
I'm not sure if you've already answered this, but did you experience any breakage once you took them out since you didn't completely braid your natural hair in with the synthetic hair?
MELifestyle okay so I've just installed my faux locs, did you have any problems with your burnt ends sticking together? What do you suggest I could do to prevent this from happening?
The way you end your hair is such a good idea and helpful because I've done 3 people hair and the ends had unravel. So now I'm going to try you way now so that it won't unravel!😊
I didn't see it at first until I looked at her take down video. She does indeed favor Sanaa. It may be because of the glasses she has on in this video.
I have never heard of this style until today and am super excited! I am sooo tired of paying a bunch of money to get braids (because I cant do them on myself) and then I take them out right away. This seems like something that I could actually do for myself...Even though it will take a long time! Thank you for these videos, super informative! I hope to try this out soon! :)
I ENJOYED YOUR TUTORIAL. IT WAS VERY HELPFUL. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. I HAVE NATURAL LOCKS I BEEN GROWING FOR 18 YEARS BUT MY HAIR RECENTLY BEEN THROUGH SOME TRAUMA AND I WANT TO KNOW HOW I COULD REPAIR THE DAMAGE. I FOUND YOUR TUTORIAL TO BE THE MOST HELPFUL TO MY SITUATION.
Actually very nice. I have locs, but I wish I tried this before I actually got my locs. it seriously beat getting extention braids every 2wks. Love the video. Adorable teen without make up and beautiful young adult with make up. win/win! keep up the great work.
I have watched several videos and couldn't get a grip on this hairstyle...yas is by far the most clear, straight foward and easiest technique. Im gonna get me some packs of Marley hair and save myself some money and a trip to the Salon. I have very thick natural hair though, how many packs would I need for average length and thickness like yas. Thanks a bunch for sharing :)
This was such a great extension tutorial. I have been deciding if I wanted to do double ended dreads and buy them already made off etsy. Thank you so much for helping me decide I can do this by myself and with some close friends for quite a bit less of money! I cant wait to do the single ended dreadlocks like yours!! Your an inspiration!
so my daughter wants something like this. her hair is down to her butt and she a white girl. her hair is on the thinner straight side. any advice? also how do you care for it, like washing? or when do you know its time they come out? I was told only way to get them out was to cut hair and wait for it to grow back? does it make your head heavy? is it hard to sleep on them? I am so interested but have many many questions. but when I told daughter she'd have to cut all her hair off she hasn't been on me as much to do them. yours looks great.
just try it out and see how it turns out. you might want to damp the hair or use hair spray so you can braid the initial hair from the root. you can definitely try it out, there is no harm in trying
Hello there :) I have a question. Is there any reason you started them with Synthetic vs Human hair? It looks like you have a great technique going to start locks. I started my locks with Human Hair because i've heard a lot of people say those Marley locks are temporary.
Very nice to give u a compliment but my question is how do u take the locks out sweetie? That's a question I will love to know&many others would might also.
Thank you so much. I have been trying to get this done for a while. I am going to pass this along to my daughter. I can't really braid but I can learn the rest
You should seperate the hair before you wrap it and make sure it stays seperated and not one big piece/chunk of hair, and wrap tightly along with running your finger over it to smooth it as you wrap
MELifestyle okay thanks but what about the width because i want the same width as you but my real hair is a little past the middle of my back. so i just felt like if i added more braiding hair they would be too thick i can't find anyone with my length of hair its discouraging i really want them :(
Thanks for sharing this video I thought it was great! I've been researching different techniques and this is by far the easiest one for me. Only problem I encountered is that mines were really thick I want them around your size. Idk if I'm not wrapping right or not but the steps you went over they came out beautiful! Keep posting
Hey, How do you keep your hair from twisting too much at the root? While wrapping the marley hair around the braid, my hair keeps twisting at the root & its getting really tight & uncomfortable..?
question for you: i had someone do my faux locs and she took a lighter up the strand of the loc, and now it sheds the burnt pieces. Is there a way to stop that from happening. *idk why she was burning the loc*
Question if I wanna lock up using the Marley hair and just keep getting it retwisted what do you recommend. I was gonna get it done the first time and just keep getting it retwisted till eventually my hair blended and locked I to dreads.
I don't remember if you said it or not but these are like any extensions right.?? You can take them out anytime?? BTW love this easy tutorial and how would you keep them looking good.??
Beautiful hair and beautiful person. I didn't want to scroll through the comments. I was just wondering what do you do when they stick together? I just recently did mines and they keep getting stuck together. Help
If my natural hair length is the length I already want, can I just skil a step and start wrapping it? I ask because Im a latina, idk if my hair needs different steps or not 🙀. Thanks.
Here's my problem: I want to be Killmonger for Halloween, but I don't have dreads. As of now, Halloween is in a few months and my hair is 4-5 inches. I want to get dreads like his, I don't want to lose my hair progress, but his dreads don't have the parted spaces. What would I do to achieve dreads like his that don't lock, without having the spaces?
I want to have synthetic dreadlocks installed, but I don't want to take the risk of ordering a custom set online so I was told to start with marley hair because I live near alot of beauty supply stores. Would this kind of hair look ok on white girls? I'm so new to this but I want to see what I would look like with dreads. I've seen all sorts of synthetic dreads but I have no idea where to start=/
When I burn mine, a few clients complain that the locs first become frizzy at the end, begin to stick together & THEN unravel 😖 how do you keep yours from unravelling?
wow your really pretty i like that it bring out the color in your skin. your so awesome i thank you i hope no one takes your unique style your always beautiful keep your head up and your knowledge is perfect expression is everything.
i love this video and i really plan on doing this but i was going to do this method and attach the hair to my dreads i have now but i was wondering once you finish is it ok to get the hair wet??? please get back to me as soon as possible and also can u describe to me how i would go about making them evan longer would i just ad more hair when i get to the end
HEY EVERYONE!!! SO I UPLOADED AN UPDATED SHORT FAUX LOC ROUTINE!!! NO MORE BURNING THE ENDS, NO MORE STIFFNESS, AND NO MORE LOOSING THOSE EDGES! LINK IS IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX!

Same here 😩🙌🏽
I have faux locs but I did mine using braiding hair and then wrapping with Marley... I'm glad you posted this because now I can save money when I do these in my boyfriends head... Thanks for the video, it was a great help love.
Glad I could help!
I love how you did yours without braiding or twisting first so it looks more natural and less heavy
thanks : )
I'm glad I found your method. This way I don't have to braid the hair first using braiding hair. I think I'm going to do mine your way! Thanks
you literally just saved my life! I love how easy this is compared to other tutorials. THANK YOU!!
glad you found it helpful.
girl omg i am so thankful for this video! Everyone else does braids or twists with kanekalon hair first before they wrap it with dread it with marley hair. Which is basically double the work!! So yay!
This is the easiest technique I've found so far. I've been dying to try this style!! Nice vid babe!
Thank you so much!
Ari T Yessss....the easiest so far...now I think I can try..Thanks MELifestyle!!
Hands down BEST TUTORIAL!!! Easy to follow and easy to understand. I really want to try this now!!
Girl I'm glade I found your video tutorial because my bestfriend want me to do the same to her hair and I was like girl I don't know how to do all that. but you made it seen so easy to do but I think I got it lol for it to be my first time ever doing them...... but thanks for this tutorial I really needed It........ can you do locs with braiding hair?

Great job might try this, this weekend. I like this technique because not so much hair is used.
*Esse estilo de tranças é bonito.*
great video..
I am glad I stumbled across it.
Excellent tip about braiding the very ends then burn.
I love that you have Jhene Aiko in the background. She's the one who made me want blond locs. lol
samee
So glad to finally meet the girl behind the pic that everybody has sent me (I'm a stylist) so many people are in love with this style so thank you for the tutorial video!!

I've wanted faux dreads forever now & this tutorial just helped me out a lot on how to do it myself. Thank you, perfect tutorial
Beautiful! Putting mine in now. Thanks for running the hot water tip I was wondering how to make them not so stiff
I have my hair naturally loc but this is a great video for those who aren't sure they want to loc their own natural hair. Also u have natural beauty without make up
Thank you!
MELifestyle
I agree
Love!! I was looking for a way to do them without having to install synthetic braids first so helpful!! & u look like sana lathen n keri Washington
Happy I could help!
I always thought this style was way more complicated then this but I see it's not now. I've just started doing different things so this will definitely be a new project. Thanks for the tutorial.... Your locs are amazing

I'm scared to do anyone else's hair tho. However I did refer ALL 6 of them to this vid! Thx again for your time, cus I know you were dog tired!
This has to be the easiest most convenient way I have seen it done! Great tutorial!
I'm not sure if you've already answered this, but did you experience any breakage once you took them out since you didn't completely braid your natural hair in with the synthetic hair?
Hey i actually have a video of me taking them out and the amount of hair i lost
MELifestyle okay so I've just installed my faux locs, did you have any problems with your burnt ends sticking together? What do you suggest I could do to prevent this from happening?
I would suggest dipping them in hot water or washing them
yes this way is so much simpler than all the other videos.. i really appreciate it.. and its cheaper this way too
I'm usually very terrible when it comes to doing hair but your tutorial was very easy & simple to understand and do! Thanks!
The way you end your hair is such a good idea and helpful because I've done 3 people hair and the ends had unravel. So now I'm going to try you way now so that it won't unravel!😊
Thank you so much. I was wondering how much I'd have to pay to do it but you make it seem pretty easy so I'm gonna try it next month.
You look so much like Sanaa Lathan.
+BoredRandomCraptv where your eyeglasses, because she do not look like Sanaa Lathan, don't get me wrong she's cute but she not as fine as Sanaa
+amanda rawlings she sounds like her but not look like her
she reminds me of her too
I didn't see it at first until I looked at her take down video. She does indeed favor Sanaa. It may be because of the glasses she has on in this video.
BoredRandomCraptv ..talks like her too.The NY accent.

I notice there stiff when you first finish, does dipping them losen them up ? (in hot water)
yes ma'am
I ENJOYED YOUR TUTORIAL. IT WAS VERY HELPFUL. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. I HAVE NATURAL LOCKS I BEEN GROWING FOR 18 YEARS BUT MY HAIR RECENTLY BEEN THROUGH SOME TRAUMA AND I WANT TO KNOW HOW I COULD REPAIR THE DAMAGE. I FOUND YOUR TUTORIAL TO BE THE MOST HELPFUL TO MY SITUATION.
I live this technique, I will be trying my faux locs using this same technique. I just hope I will succeed. I love yours also.
I do my own hair all the time n this is the best faux loc that I've seen. Love love love it!!!
Actually very nice. I have locs, but I wish I tried this before I actually got my locs. it seriously beat getting extention braids every 2wks. Love the video. Adorable teen without make up and beautiful young adult with make up. win/win! keep up the great work.
I tried this method & they slip after a while. I do them super tight, do you know what the problem could be?
the best way I did my locs is by using yarn.....look up a tutorial on yarn locs
+Dominique Brown okay thanks girl
mines slipped too but I found a solution use braiding weave instead of braiding your real hair it won't slip then do it like she's doing
Did you wash the hair first?
I have watched several videos and couldn't get a grip on this hairstyle...yas is by far the most clear, straight foward and easiest technique. Im gonna get me some packs of Marley hair and save myself some money and a trip to the Salon. I have very thick natural hair though, how many packs would I need for average length and thickness like yas. Thanks a bunch for sharing :)
wouldn't your hair start locking with the marley hair after some time? Idk I feel like braiding it before prevents that.
That's exactly what I was wondering
sprtichck it takes 3months plus for your hair to actually loc i dont think youll have them in for thst long.
oh brilliant thanks, because I like hers most of all but I was afraid of that
This was such a great extension tutorial. I have been deciding if I wanted to do double ended dreads and buy them already made off etsy. I am so interested but have many many questions. but when I told daughter she'd have to cut all her hair off she hasn't been on me as much to do them. yours looks great.
Her hair is gonna mess up , it's very thin hair which isn't meant for braids like these , It might root out her hair
just try it out and see how it turns out. you might want to damp the hair or use hair spray so you can braid the initial hair from the root. you can definitely try it out, there is no harm in trying
Hello there :) I have a question. Is there any reason you started them with Synthetic vs Human hair? It looks like you have a great technique going to start locks. I started my locks with Human Hair because i've heard a lot of people say those Marley locks are temporary.
girl you done put some folks that charge people thousands to intall. good job. mine are natural but you're giving me ideas for my thinning locs
Hi.
Did you see significant growth. I just installed mines yesterday. So i hope it will give me a good growth.
Thanks
Hi.... Do you wear it momentariliy or do you keep permanantly?
There are faux locs, they are not permanent
thank u for responding
How long did/are they lasting? I think I'm going to try this! Thanks for the simple & easy tutorial
i keep them in for about 6-8 weeks
I think this is the easiest way of making faux dreads, beautiful and lesser time
Very nice to give u a compliment but my question is how do u take the locks out sweetie? That's a question I will love to know&many others would might also.
I have a video on that.
Thank you so much. I have been trying to get this done for a while. I am going to pass this along to my daughter. I can't really braid but I can learn the rest
I got them done but some are unravelling. Do i have to take them all the way out and put them back in?
Just try to rewrap them first.
I love this look! My hair is gray in the front, i need a solid light color on the top of my head!
Did u notice good growth from not braiding your hair under the twists ? Doing it this way will probably take alot less time
is there a certain way you're supposed to wrap? I've tried doing this but it keeps coming out as twists more than a dread. can someone please help me?
You should seperate the hair before you wrap it and make sure it stays seperated and not one big piece/chunk of hair, and wrap tightly along with running your finger over it to smooth it as you wrap
So if I want them long I just adjust the length in the beginning right?
yes ma'am
MELifestyle okay thanks but what about the width because i want the same width as you but my real hair is a little past the middle of my back. so i just felt like if i added more braiding hair they would be too thick i can't find anyone with my length of hair its discouraging i really want them :(
Jodie Kay you should check out Naptural85, her hair is pretty long too
Are these heavy or light weight?
Pretty lightweight
how do you take them out after you've had it for a while?
I just recorded a video. It will be up tomorrow.
hi there i want to do this style but with the back of my hair being so short would i still be able to acheive this??
you need at least an inch or two for the marley hair to attach to
I love this! can you make a video of you washing your loc extensions please?
I did..it's up now
Is the loc stiff after you wrap it? Do you have to wet the local so it can be not stiff looking.. Is there a such thing of wrapping to tight?
Thanks for sharing this video I thought it was great! I've been researching different techniques and this is by far the easiest one for me. Only problem I encountered is that mines were really thick I want them around your size. Idk if I'm not wrapping right or not but the steps you went over they came out beautiful! Keep posting
Hey,
How do you keep your hair from twisting too much at the root? While wrapping the marley hair around the braid, my hair keeps twisting at the root & its getting really tight & uncomfortable..?
I did my girlfriends faux locs with yarn and they came out amazing but I'll see if she wants to try this its nice
do you know where can i find the extensions ??? I apreciated
You can buy the Marley hair from a local beauty supply store . If that is what you are talking about
Okay thank u. I apreacciated
.
Oh wow great job!!! Did you have in false lashes in the pix if so what were the brand, thank you.
yea i did,, it was the ardell demi wispies i believe
U make it look so simple. I love it. Can faux locks be done on processed hair?
Yes it can. Just wait a few weeks after a fresh perm, so your roots are a bit thicker.
This is dope I always wanted to see how I look with dreads...I want my hair like this same length just different color
question for you: i had someone do my faux locs and she took a lighter up the strand of the loc, and now it sheds the burnt pieces.

Awwww you look like Kerry Washington. Very Helpful Video, Thanks For Taking Out Time To Post.
Great tutorial! You made it very easy to understand. Didn't know you could do these on hair that is not braided.
Beautiful hair and beautiful person. I didn't want to scroll through the comments. I was just wondering what do you do when they stick together? I just recently did mines and they keep getting stuck together. Help
Thank you so much... very CLEAR and EASY instructions. I am going to be trying this.
glad i could help
If my natural hair length is the length I already want, can I just skil a step and start wrapping it? I ask because Im a latina, idk if my hair needs different steps or not 🙀. Thanks.
im gna try this...however i wonder if u should take them down after a period of time? can u run the risk of locking ur hair?
Any tips on what to do when washing scalp to maintain healthy hair underneath?
Here's my problem: I want to be Killmonger for Halloween, but I don't have dreads. As of now, Halloween is in a few months and my hair is 4-5 inches. I want to get dreads like his, I don't want to lose my hair progress, but his dreads don't have the parted spaces. What would I do to achieve dreads like his that don't lock, without having the spaces?
how long did these last you? i tried these before with another method and they were falling out within days.
i keep them in for usually 6-8 weeks
I want to have synthetic dreadlocks installed, but I don't want to take the risk of ordering a custom set online so I was told to start with marley hair because I live near alot of beauty supply stores. Would this kind of hair look ok on white girls? I'm so new to this but I want to see what I would look like with dreads. I've seen all sorts of synthetic dreads but I have no idea where to start=/
I peeped Jhene Aiko playing in the background 😁
: )
Could you make a video on how u wash & moisturize your faux locs?
hi I have question do I have to add a second peice is it obligatory or I could just continue wrapping?
seems so easy im going to try them but I would love to see some of your makeup tuturiols
did yours stick together alot and pull from each other??
Is it safe to do this on short hair my hair is about 3 inches long on the sides and do they have to be tight to last? Did you have any breakage ??
When I burn mine, a few clients complain that the locs first become frizzy at the end, begin to stick together & THEN unravel 😖 how do you keep yours from unravelling?
So do you dip them in hot water when your done or no (doing the one without yarn)?
I was trying to do this and it was really nice, but it felt really tight at the roots. It sorta hurt. How did you prevent this?
Just used your tutorial to show my grandmother how to do mine. Thank you so much for the help!
Sooo MELifestyle how would you make them thicker and longer? I can't figure out in my head how to do that. This is so beautiful on you!
So what brand of Marley hair is it? I plan on starting today using your mwthod, just prefer the brand you used if I can find it.
hey what kind of dreadlock extension do you use.. im thinking of getting some for my hair. where can i buy some. please help thanks
wow your really pretty i like that it bring out the color in your skin. your so awesome i thank you i hope no one takes your unique style your always beautiful keep your head up and your knowledge is perfect expression is everything.
How do you secure them and assure that they don't unravel ? They look great btw !
Do you have any specific hair ties or accessories you us for your locks that won't strip or unravel the loc?
Did you do around the perimeter of your hair first, or did you work from back to front/front to back?
i love this video and i really plan on doing this but i was going to do this method and attach the hair to my dreads i have now but i was wondering once you finish is it ok to get the hair wet??? please get back to me as soon as possible and also can u describe to me how i would go about making them evan longer would i just ad more hair when i get to the end
