When Marcin Dylla starts playing, time stops, music becomes the only important existence. The story begins, images and emotions arise, and catharsis comes at the end.
As a classical guitar student, it always amazes me how perfectly he plays. Such expression and such a nimble and yet relaxed left hand.
So glad to see a young player that's using a traditionally made guitar and producing a real tone on it too. This is soooo much better than the way too bass heavy and super thumpy F# double tops.
What a gift for this Festival entitled to Fernando Sor! His most poignant work, the Fantasia Elegiaca, in the hands of one of today's greatest interpreter. A quarter of hour with the purest Sor quintessence. Impressive and moving, professionally immaculate and deep, different from any previous version. The Guitar is here at its pinnacle in all its classical output and this interpretation shows The Music and nothing else, truly like a piano or a violin. Dylla is beyond any other and the deserved final applause is full of respect for Sor, for this great work and for Dylla who played it with the greatest artistry. GRAZIE SOR, GRAZIE MAESTRO !
Gracias, Marcin!
Am not the biggest fan of Sor, but I have never heard his works played like this (not even the great Pepe Romero who plays superbly, has the transcendental nuances and colored and dynamic phrasings with which Dylla infuses into this work); and for the guitar sound...one of the most beautiful, crystal clear I have ever heard. Dylla is much more than one of the greatest guitarrists of all times, he is among the top of musicians of any instrument. Bravo! His musicianship is beyond 99% of the even the finest guitarrists I have watched on RUclips.
Totally agree with you Roberto
Guitar God
Definitely one of the most superb classical guitarists in the world today. This performance demonstrates his superb musical sensitivity and understanding.
Felicidades maestro!!!
Magistral. Increíble interpretación!
Besides Dyllas obvious talents, I cant get over how great a composer Fernando Sor really was. This is levels above any of his contemporaries in the realm of guitarist-composers.
Superior Sor. BTW: he ignores Sors 'left hand only' playing instruction right after the beginning. You might say: Dylla is right, because it's a toneless technique. But isn’t it essential to the rethoric of the piece? After an intial cry of anguish after hearing of Mme De Beslay's death, Sor is just speechless. BTW, I like the fact that he uses a conventional guitar with very good sound.
An absolute masterpiece of music from that time and the best Fantasy Sor has written and which nowadays is played way too less! 👌 About Marcin's playing there is no need to talk: the piece couldn't have been played and interpreted better than by him! 👍
Such an incredible composition by Fernando Sor!
Marcin never fails to amaze me.
Brawo Marcin!
we all know and love the instrumentalist, but who is the luthier? that guitar has amazing power, excellent dynamic range. very respectable sustain but somehow excellent clarity and separation between strings.
Is it a Daryl Perry?
The luthier is Gabriele Lodi.
Marcin Dylla is my favorite!!
Grande maestro belíssima interpretação técnica impecável refinada bravíssimo de Manaus Amazonas Brasil.
Spellbinding performance. Such focus and underlying serenity which is one of Sor's most potent and unique gifts.
Inspired performance!
Great sound and drama.
Bravo!
Wonderful.
Sublime.
We need the whole concert!
Ringo Starr is amazing - who knew?
always amazing, expecially when he plays this kind of repertoire!
The Polish captain
Amazing play
Incredible performance.
Grande maestro. Hermoso.
From the soul to the fingertips , an outflowing of expressions so profound it changes you for life .
quel sont incroyable
Bravo!!!!!
Wow!
Que Bonita guitarra ,
Gran Guitarrista
moderu de torres wonderful
Weiß jmd von wem die Gitarre ist? Wieso schreiben die das nie dazu? Der Luthier ist auch Künstler. - Does anyone know which guitar he is playing? Why don`t they write that down anyways?! The luthier is an artist too,
Que guitarra usa el maestro? Tremendo!
Torres

A snore! An entirely boring performance of this incredible and dramatic work.
Wonderful.What brand is this guitar?
I think it is a guitar made by Gabriele Lodi, Italy. Torres copy.
@@garyto75 No te ofendas.
Would be interesting to see if he could write his own music, and not just be a virtuosic player.
it wasnt a good performance of this fantasy and a classical era peace....tone was great and it was so romantic but it isnt the peace...it was dylla ...not sor
No body alive has heard Sor live.. How do you know it wasn't Sor??? And in what sense was it not a good performance... You need to listen... This performance was beautiful... It's a pity that you don't see it..
There are numerous contemporary sources and methods on the guitar and its technique in the 19th century, including a full book written by Sor. Based on what the players of the period and Sor have written, including very specific details and an entirely different technique and hand position, it can be said with absolute certainty that this is not a stylistically or technically sound/correct performance. A statement meant in a laconic manner.
For me in the end, in most cases hearing modern guitarists play classical/romantic repertoire on modern instruments with modern technique and long nails comes off very drab. Especially in a sublime lyrical work like this where there is little flash, and technical fireworks. This performance of Dylla's is a snore. To call it bland would be an understatement.
The pity is people thinking art is entirely subjective and if it moves them that is enough. No - there are specifics - especially in historical performance, and they matter and have an effect. When one learns these idiosyncrasies and historical techniques, it naturally informs the style and performance, and then this music really comes to life!
@@zuohagel1796 OK. So have you played this piece without finger nails? Or do you know people who have? If so, you should post it somewhere. From what I hear on this performance, his tone, dynamics, expression, and technique are impeccable
Very rich the sound of the guitar and great performance. Thanks a lot.
