lol.. it's one of the simplest menus for a Korean meal.. Usually, different kinds of side-dishes can be cooked ahead of time and keep in the refrigerator like kimchi. So for real meal, if you serve those side-dishes and make something else freshly before serving, the meal can be not too difficult. But I know your point. I think Korean cooking is more complex and ask for more effort and time than many of American food. thanks
Your name caught my eyes and I just checked your channel. :) I enjoyed watching your "laughing challenge" lol You both look happy together. God bless you. hope to see you more often here. thanks
Hi Aeri I love these 3 side dishes. Really love that pressure cooker you cooked the rice in, does the water ratio change if you use long grain rice instead of short grain? I always burn rice in a rice cooker and never use rice cookers anymore for that reason. I always use a pot on the stove.
I love your cooking they all look so delicious I want to try them all but one thing I haven't seen I don't know if you have done an video for it or not but I was wondering if u can make an video of cooking steam and fried dumplings those are my favorites ☺☺
If you have a lid for your frying pan, you can use it. However, even if you have a lid.. your lid can be very oily and messy .. sometimes difficult to clean after you fry the fish because it really gets lots of oil splash on it. In that point, if you just use a paper towel, you can throw away it and be easy and simple to clean the mess. Thanks :)
Very delicious 😋 thanks for this video.let me know one thing, why do Koreans always use dried kelp and anchovies in soups? I didn't tried yet.make sure I'll use those 2 ingredients.thanku
I'm very curious about one thing: why do koreans cook their rice in a pressure cooker? does it turn different than the rice that is cooked on a regular pot?
I personally prefer a pressure cooker than electric rice cooker... I think it gives better flavor and texture for the cooked rice.. (again it's my personal opnion..) plus.. as you see in the video... with my pressure cooker I can make delicious rice very quickly compare to rice cooker or other method.. that;s why :)
Oops, sorry I didn't count the time for this video.. I guess it will take about 5-8 minutes for one side on medium-high (preheated pan)... and same for the other side... just when both sides become golden brown like the one in this video, you are good to go ~~~~~
I'm doing okay. I enjoy teaching my students but, yeah, China is different from Korea. I am looking forward to going back to Korea for a holiday in February.
Even if you just show the table setting and which foods go well together, it would be so useful. You can leave links to your videos showing how to make them in the description. I usually make side dishes on Saturdays and then on the weekdays I only need to make rice and soup... but my in-laws often laugh at me because I make things that don't usually go together.
Wow, you are awesome. It is not always easy to do that. I'm sure that your mother-in-law thinks that you are so cute when you prepare Korean meal whether it matches well or not. I'm proud of you. Thanks for your good suggestion. I will consider it seriously. ;)
Thank you for always answering my comments. Thanks to all your videos (and also Maangchi), I am often able to impress her with my cooking. Sometimes she even asked me for the recipes, so I showed her the videos. ^^
Hi.. the brand I use for my pressure cooker is from Korea.. When I was in Korea 2 years ago, I bought it from a store. I searched if they sell the brand here..but they didn't.. I'm sorry for my poor answer.. I don't use other brand you can find in America so I can not tell with confidence. I used rice cooker that I bought in america before..and that brand was this one. www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-ZCC10-Uncooked-Premium-1-0-Liter/dp/B00007J5U7/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1487792317&sr=1-2&keywords=Zojirushi+rice+cooker I recommend you that one since I liked it.. if you want to use rice cooker. (It is not pressure cooker though..)
I actually think I found the pressure cooker you are using on Amazon. PN brand and made in Korea. I think I might get it or an instant pot which can make rice. Thank you for your reply! :D
Oh.. You got it right. That's the brand I have. PN.. I was surprised to see it on amazon. I searched pressure cooker and couldn't find it. wow.. It is a good brand and I really like my pressure cooker.. the best part is.. it takes so short time to make delicious rice.. so I highly recommend you to try it if you can. thanks
Yes, I prefer pressure cooker than rice cooker for my rice for both the rice texture and flavor. :) Oh I didn't see your message until you left this comment. Now, I see it. Sorry I will reply to you. :) thanks
What was the third side dish? The one served on the long plate with the kimchee, with the two things that are long and white-ish colored? Is this something you can buy?
aha... .it's the part of the kimchi.. it's bachelor radish kimchi.. the white part is radish and the green part is the leafy part.. it's my all time favorite kimchi.. if you can get a chance to try it from a Korean grocery store, I highly recommend you to try. :)
Recently I learned "EXO-L" is a Global Official Fanclub for Exo through some of the comments that I got.. then.. in your comment.. ‘︿’ ---> This looks like a sad or disappointed face expression.. if I'm an EXO-L or not an EXO-L.. you are sad about it? I hope not ~~ 😅 Some people said.. my name "Aeri" made them think that I'm EXO-L... I'm sorry but it is just my Korean name that my parents gave it to me.. and I dont know well about Exo but I listened to some of their songs... nice ~~ anyway my answer is.. I'm not an EXO-L..
That trick of using the paper towel to prevent splatter should only be used by people using electric stoves! Otherwise just go on Amazon and order an oil splatter guard.
hi Ezura, Thanks for your comment and opinion.. I used to have and use oil splatter guard to cook my fish.. then I realized .. it is a little painful to clean the grease for the oil splatter after frying the fish...and mine was not 100 percent stainless steel ones.. as a result.. it started to rust little bit... that's why I use the paper towel method now.. but you have a good point about using it on electric stoves.. because you don't want the paper towel catch on fire... if the size of the paper towel is not over the size of the pan.. it might be still safe in some degree.. anyway.. :) I just wanted to share my experience too..
When you go to a Korean grocery store, they sell different types of mackerell.. this type in this video is.. for frying it.. so they already salted the fish.. if you get fresh mackerel without any salt.. you can sprinkle some salt on both sides of the fish and fry.. that's it.. ^^ thanks
Oh, I tried to make the video less boring..and that's why I try to do the ingredients part quickly.. but..if it was too fast.. I will try to make it a little slower (But it still can't be too slow..lol).. thanks for your opinion..
wow! i am loving the simplicity of the food and the setting.

Replace the rice with kelp noodles, and change the sugar for stevia or exclude it and the whole menu becomes keto. Lovely.

I love how the table is set, is there a good Korean website to buy those pretty serving bowls and plates?
LuvGenre I think u can try world market. They have online sites.
I tried to find a site for you..but couldn't find.. maybe it's fragile for shipping??

Food looks great! when frying the fish why use a paper towel and not a lid? is there a difference?

Very delicious 😋 thanks for this video.let me know one thing, why do Koreans always use dried kelp and anchovies in soups? I didn't tried yet.make sure I'll use those 2 ingredients.thanku
hi varsha raaga,
Those 2 ingredients improve the broth flavor..give more savory flavor.. plus.. they are both healthy too. :) thanks
Hmmm... it’s easier to make simple stock of anchovies and kelp then to make French stock or consommé. I’m sure it takes Aeri 30 min to make all that
요리하는 손이 참~ 고와보이네요^^ 압력밥솥도 귀여워요 ㅎㅎㅎ

I like this. Although, I have learned to make many kinds of Korean food, it's hard to know what goes well together for a meal.
I can totally understand you. :) There are 5 sides, 7 sides, 12 sides traditional Korean meals beside this 3 side one.

Aeri, do you like the pressure cooker better than the rice cooker? Also, did you get my message that I sent you through RUclips messages?
Yes, I prefer pressure cooker than rice cooker for my rice for both the rice texture and flavor. :) Oh I didn't see your message until you left this comment. Now, I see it. Sorry I will reply to you. :) thanks
I love it 😍so Yuuumy 😋😋
Thanks :)
Who says that is Japanese? Haha Everyone has enjoyed this kind meal every day in Korea.
댓글 감사합니다. :)
Wow
😆
What was the third side dish? The one served on the long plate with the kimchee, with the two things that are long and white-ish colored? Is this something you can buy?

Yes, it's yummy. hehe thanks ;)
Hi this looks great! What is the total cooking time?
For me, I can make this meal in an hour... ^^
love it thumbs up madam.
Thanks for your thumbs up !!! :)
Aeri's Kitchen 감사합니다! 김치 찌개 영상 만드셨나요?

Aeri???are u an EXO-L??‘︿’
Recently I learned "EXO-L" is a Global Official Fanclub for Exo through some of the comments that I got.. then.. in your comment.. ‘︿’ ---> This looks like a sad or disappointed face expression.. if I'm an EXO-L or not an EXO-L.. you are sad about it? Bcoz fish is very big for 1 person ..
Yes, this recipe has enough soup and rice for 2-3 people.
Oh no~~ I can eat the fish all alone.. hehe so delicious. :) Of course you can share it too.
It must take a long time to wash the dishes .
haha... yep.. that happens in Korean meal... I'm thankful that somebody invented a dishwasher for us. :)
Gomawo ;)
Cheonmanhaeyo :)
That trick of using the paper towel to prevent splatter should only be used by people using electric stoves! Otherwise just go on Amazon and order an oil splatter guard.
hi Ezura, Thanks for your comment and opinion.. I used to have and use oil splatter guard to cook my fish.. then I realized .. it is a little painful to clean the grease for the oil splatter after frying the fish...and mine was not 100 percent stainless steel ones.. as a result.. it started to rust little bit... that's why I use the paper towel method now.. but you have a good point about using it on electric stoves.. because you don't want the paper towel catch on fire... if the size of the paper towel is not over the size of the pan.. it might be still safe in some degree.. anyway.. :) I just wanted to share my experience too..
u put salt on fish thats it ? or how to make fish tasty
When you go to a Korean grocery store, they sell different types of mackerell.. this type in this video is.. for frying it.. so they already salted the fish.. if you get fresh mackerel without any salt.. you can sprinkle some salt on both sides of the fish and fry.. that's it.. ^^ thanks
you people need to stop making jokes hahahahah
I really like tour channel but can you try to give the ingridients slowly ;)
Oh, I tried to make the video less boring..and that's why I try to do the ingredients part quickly.. but..if it was too fast.. I will try to make it a little slower (But it still can't be too slow..lol).. thanks for your opinion..
haseyo
^^ hi...
Ok now show us how to eat that.rice with a fish n other side dish with also rice ?
Yes, you can eat everything with your rice in the menu. :) thanks
thats japanese and not korean
It's Korean food.

Looks so yummy!
