Future Neighbor I love your recipes
Hansik set is kinda expansive. If u can drop the price a bit.
You deliver to france ?
Oh wow this is cool to be able to get hard to find products online...thanks
Thank you for ahowing us easy-to-make, popular dishes. I live in Spain so it's more complicated to find ingredients. Do you know how to make Samgyetang-Chicken/Ginseng Soup? Thank you very much!
That "We're not killing vampires, just being Korean." line was gold!
Garlic! Apparently that's how Koreans fought off the SARS epidemic as well.. haha
Future Neighbor The spokesman for the garlic capital of the U.S. Gilroy, California said the no. 1 consumer of their products is not Italian Americans, but Korean Americans.
That's why piedmontese people are into korean stuff, we make a sauce to eat with cooked and raw veggies which has one whole had of garlic per person, 1/4 pund of anchovies, salt and lots LOTS of oil. It's freaking good.
Oh really? Makes sense. I'm not sure if any other countries like to eat whole garlic cloves raw. But Korea certainly does. With a little bit of ssamjang, we are wolfing them down haha.
Was just gonna comment this lol
I laughed so hard when you innocently asked why people don't like carrots (@ 1:24)
SAME lol
I like carrots but I'm not a fan of bellpepper and I dislike cucumber
i nodded in agreement
Bwahahaha! TMI warning. As a garlic lover, who sometimes has garlicky flatulence, my husband has strictly forbidden me from trying the Sticky Garlic Chips 😂😂😂😂😂
@@ginaweise7626 my work wont allow me to eat roasted garlic because apparently it pours out my pores...well it does have that effect on people..but it's just so darn good😏

Now it's 139.......n 1 dislike is mine.....😂
Its 157 dislikes now
Yes--in Asia there's no such thing as "breakfast food." There's just food! These recipes are also excellent for lunch, bento, or dinner. Where I live, breakfast means toast or pastry. On a cold morning, that's the last thing I want! Thanks for the inspiration, I'm in.
Hi Anna! That's right. Growing up in Korean household, I usually ate whatever was leftover from dinner. More often that not, my mom was making deonjjang jjigae stew. Get a spoonful of the stew, fry-up an egg and mix into a bowl of rice. 🤓
Anna Inspain are you sure about that?
Quite sure, and if you read the reply, so is Dan!!
well I get what you're saying but there is a certain line up of dish that are staple on the morning "breakfast" table. normally they're some kind of stew, and it is probably different from each family but for mine it was almost taboo to eat meat or something overly greasy for breakfast. those meaty meals are mostly reserved for dinner.
There is. Maybe not in Korea, but in China(Hong Kong and Taiwan included), we have different types of "breakfast" depending on the region you're from.
I love garlic but hoooooly shit
saucezomg lol ur profile pic matches the sentence perfectly
Looks good tbh
No Restrictions 😂😂😂😂😂😂 yes!!
I thought the same!
"how to start your day with the worst breath possible"
About the carrots: a lot of people overcook them and it makes them mushy especially when they use baby carrots, which is why people don't like cooked carrots.
Mushy carrots... mmm I'll pass on that as well haha!
I don’t like cooked carrots because it’s sweet? Same goes for beetroots and sweet peas, it confuses my mouth.
Well, as they used to say somewhere west of Busan, "De gustibus non est disputandum." (And thanks, neighbors, for the lovely breakfast ideas.)
@@e.1419 bit late but regular carrots cut up aren't super sweet
Your laid-back monotonous explanation with some hints of humor really made the video interesting to watch/listen to, and it's weird that i'm drawn into this 'monotonous presentation' compared to my students' monotonous presentation hahahahahahahha sorry, students!
Emmie Idris, as a teacher especially, I think you need to look up the difference between "monotonous" and "monotone". He has a pleasant, even-toned speaking voice. His presentation is certainly not monotonous.
How many more times did you have to say "monotonous" to gratify yourself?
My son has just started Uni and your site is one of my favorite cooking channels which I highly recommended that he must have in order to survive his first self cooking. Btw, we are not Koreans but your cooking is simple enough for other Asians to try. Thank you for being so practical in your approach.
(Eats a literal garlic clove)
“Don’t worry it’s not that garlicky!”
Question: have you ever tasted anything and thought it had too much garlic?
That simply doesn't exist! More, more, MOOOOREEEE!!
madock345 its really not once you cook them and half them. Try eating raw garlic whole, very painful and ur breathe will suffer
madock345 "there's too much garlic" said no one ever
something i got to know from my mom - the longer you cook garlic, the more useless it becomes. the essential part is its liquids, so if you cook it too early, the juices will evaporate and youre left with just chips that have a hint of garlic
Well I think eating a garlic is very garlicky O.o
Love the "We're not killing vampires, we're just being Korean" line. I'm not sure I'd get away with eating so much garlic before work though.
😊
Am I the only one here, who would actually love to eat that garlic?
Don't forget about me! 🙋♂️
nahh I would too, garlic with rice is really really good
Nope. I could eat that every day.
Garlic is my life 😍
Yash finally! I think garlic really goes well with warm rice.. PS: i also lik to eat fresh shallots with rice, goes well if u eat chopped it, add some soy sauce, chopped tomatoes, and some chili..
When you started to cut the garlic i felt like i could smell it lmfao
Help jimin find his jams lol, armys are everywhere😂❤
no, that was your upper lip you're smelling
@@lailael1459 and i pop up out of nowhere
the fact that koreans are crazy for garlic makes me love them even more 💞💖💞
I'm the type of person who has to have something savory for breakfast. Even if I have cereal, pancakes or waffles, I still have to have some type of breakfast meat and egg on the side. I'm looking forward to trying this and expanding my banchan repertoire! Is the recipe you showed us for Baek's Special Soy Sauce considered a soup soy sauce?
During grade school, my mom used to force me to drink a glass of milk before I went to school. She said that milk was the only answer to grow taller than my Dad - haha! Little did she no I was lactose intolerant... (sigh 😂)... Also Korean soup soy sauce is different than the Baek's Special Soy Sauce. You can find a small bottle from the Korean mart.
And thats why u r fat and IM NOT.
Wh at what the fuck is wrong with you? go away troll
the way he explains it and talks through it makes this so easy to follow- this is only my first video but im sure im gonna be a regular here! thanks so much, dude!
I’m watching this again and I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I started watching your channel. Wow
That looks so good
BamBam and Jackson "We called Bangchan "Banchan" when he was a trainee" LOLOLOL
Thank you for making this video! My sister absolutely adored Korean cuisine, so I'm glad I can finally find some good recipes! please make more videos like this!
That's awesome! Happy that you had a chance to make it home. Exactly why we started this channel :P
Your channel has changed my LIFE!! H Mart opened up here recently so I used your shopping list video as a guide to get all the stuff that looked good but I had no idea what to do with. I made the garlic chips along with some other recipes on your channel (braised potatoes, pickles, and spicy pork bulgogi w mushrooms and tofu substituted) for dinner the other night for my lily-white southern mom and she loved it!! Your recipes have been a game-changer! I can't wait to make these garlic chips again, they were so good! Only thing I did differently was replace the corn syrup w a quick simple syrup (equal parts hot water and sugar) since I didn't have corn syrup on hand. Thank you!!!
I would really LOVE this for breakfast, or even lunch, sounds excellent!
man... everything you cook looks so good and neat god bless
Its a bit more rugged when I am cooking just for myself ;)
I like how precise he is with the timing and everything
i love how straightforward you are!!!!!! it doesn't feel like i'm wasting my time
"and once the white have set... OH I WANNA BE IN LOVE WITH YOU" lol
Craving this Korean meal
OMG, that looks scrumptious! I work with 32 Koreans and for a couple of months, they've been teaching me how to cook Korean dishes which I truly enjoy so much. And without even noticing, because it was not my intention, I've lost weight. I'm a vegetable lover and they have helped me how to cook differently with vegetables. I think their diet or habit of eating is healthy. I'm definitely making these. The garlic one is my favorite. Thanks for sharing!!!
I LOVE how you make recipes for one serving. Because recipes videos in youtube usually made for 2 people or a family, and I live alone and end up with so many wasted ingredients
The music was so fitting as I subbed with this one dish 😏. I LOVE Korean food & there is NO Korean restaurant near me 😖.
Ryanavery Ash i went to Barcelona and found a Korean restaurant there XD
I love his voice.
Light, hearty and without meat, everything I love 😍😍😍😍 thank you
I like how you give precise measurements and instructions
"black sesame seed ,totally unnecessary but makes it look nice" hahah yes.
Found your channel today...I'm super excited! 🎎
Tahlula Park A big welcome to the channel!! Were waiting for you in the kitchen ;)
Saw this, realized I have all the ingredients, and immediately cooked it for dinner. The garlic is AMAZING (though I did sub honey for corn syrup). I couldn’t stop eating. Thanks so much for this video! It just made my night. And anyone considering trying it, it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
I made this for my family Christmas Eve morning and it was a HIT!! Thanks for the great videos.
I'm new to your channel and love the way you make it easy for me to learn these recipes. Thank you!
Welcome to the neighborhood! Let's get our hands dirty in the kitchen!
The perfect recipe for my garlic addiction
Finally! Another garlic lover!! 😆
You two are not alone. For me, the more garlic the better!!! Don't like the aftertaste or smell of garlic? simply brush your teeth. I have an extra toothpaste/brush in the office/car. No big deal.
So full and tempting. Love it
Ok ok I watched this video about a year ago but having dinner and watching this is the most awesome and amazing thing I ever did I highly recommended this way if you are having your food alone
Awesome looking breakfast! 👍 Will try tomorrow. Thank you!
Yea, let me know how you like it - perhaps we do some more banchan!
Future Neighbor Soooo good! The garlic was the best. 💕 I could eat those all day long lol. No real garlic breath either. Well much less than you'd expect. 😁
More banchan recipes would be awesome!!! 👍
Oh my God you’re the loveliest person ever ♥️😭
I’m so happy I found your channel. I keep craving Korean food and I’d like to cook different dishes but I have no idea where to start. Your videos and instructions are easy to follow. Thanks!
I love you guys!!!! I swear, you guys are like the best thing on RUclips. Thank you so much for all the great recipes.
If I had that amount of garlic for breakfast I'd fart all day....and i love garlic
Does garlic typically make people fart? Interesting... 🌬 One cup of milk would send me to the moon...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
:D
neither milk or garlic make me fart but i have caffe latte in the morning for the caffein and for going number2 so i don't need to use the toilet at school or anywhere it's not my house
@@FutureNeighbor
Yes, at least in my case it does. I don't mind them finely chopped, but that much garlic will give me discomfort and gas throughout the day. Looks good, though.
Oh it looks so good!! I wonder if I toddler would be into it hmm. Going to experiment probably tomorrow! And thank you for the idea☺👍
The potato one is a favorite banchan among grade school children in Korea! 👍
I loved this video! I loved how you showed us how thick the slices should be and everything! Maybe I’ll try this recipe out in the future
I love this video, not only for the recipes, but also because it is filmed so well.
Thanks Hellstar!! Very awkward to cook with a tripod right in front of you, but we got our maneuvers down now 🤸♂️ haha
My mom cooks that first banchan with butter for my school lunch and pairs it with tonkatsu.
Nice! Yea, I remember when I used to live with my aunt in Seoul. She used to serve tonkatsu every morning. Seems to be a good default banchan for families with children ;)

Nothing like having garlic breathe at work all day 😂
cooked garlic isn't as strong, and you are eating it with rice which mellows it out.
Ha - an altoid may do the trick
if everyone has this for breakfast it wouldnt be an issue lol
Darja Diduch Genius! I'll bring the pans to the office, you'll do the cooking? ^^D
If you are worried about it eat some parsley afterwards. Parsley neutralizes the garlic breath. Then brush your teeth.
Fantastic. Thanks for the detailed instructions.
this just made me love your channel, thank you for sharing!
I'm the i'll put whatever i find in the Fridge, in a pan and stir fry it kinda guy so this is a new era for my life 😍.And i thought koreans usually don't do their breakfast, and just eat lunch 👀.
Haha nice! I am still a wok-guy myself. As for the lunch thing, I think it still holds true. Most of my ex-colleagues wanted to leave for lunch by 11:30 as they always skipped breakfast 👀
Omg, I Love You for not including meat! Since I am a vegetarian. But I love Korean cuisine... 😥😥😥😥 lived in Korea for half a year and actually it wasn't that hard to order food without meat, just people were usually staring at me for not wanting meat.... Lol... As lots of Koreans say "I don't trust people who don't drink or eat meat" and I do neither of these two so... Yeah.... 😅😅😅😅 anyways, I will cook all of these tomorrow and I wanna ask, do You have more Korean dishes without meat like this? Or the ones that include meat but there could be a twist to them and be done without it? I would love to eat and cook Korean food for myself. Thank You!
Sending Love!
Lucy
I dont think I would trust people who drink meat.
I've seen Korean dishes with tofu lol a little research goes a long way
I worked for a Korean company for 15 years. My coworker was vegetarian. We are Korean food everyday. Basically he would eat bibimbap, kimchi, and mushroom Kalguksu or tofu. Every time they told him there was no meat. He explained even seafood was meat to him as he didn’t eat anything that used to be alive. After 15 years one lady told him the kimchi had oysters and the soup and bibimbap all had some sort of meat. He was devastated. Haha
@@raphylv30 the thing with tofu is that cooks/chef still include meat products
Thank you. Simple and easy to understand. No fuss. Taste great, I have tried the first recipe of potato and carrot.
I love watching food videos from different countries and cultures. It’s fun to see the concept of “dinner foods” and “breakfast foods” I grew up with turned totally upside down. 3 kinds of alliums all before noon! Lol.
I was the kid who drenched everything in maple syrup, but I’ve really come around to this whole savory breakfast thing! Anyways, thanks for your recipes and concise presentation. Really glad I found your channel!
I live the hard life, I don’t even have breakfast!
Koreans: we eat a kilo garlics for the mornings
Me: omg...
😂
@youtube성비 you know, as a korean, just take a look when we cook foods like soup or bulgogi. you will notice that reasonable amount of garlics are going in.
I am gonna try making this over the weekend :-)
Woo hoo! Let me know if garlic breath is an issue? ha
so simple and they look really good
Ohhhh, I've been looking for this channel!!! I follow so many Korean lifestyle channels (my addiction!) But can't get the recipes! So happy to subscribe and learn now ! Going to try EVERYTHING!! This breakfast looks like a dream! ❤❤❤
What can i do if i haven't corn syrup? 😣😌
I love love loooooove what you did with the garlic! Everytime I fry garlic up with bok choi or chinese brocolli, noone eats the garlic but its part of the experience! After cooking it loses a lot of the strong garlicy taste and becomes kind of sweet on its own, ugh drool >3
Leilani hi, i don't really cook so i wouldn't know, but Can i add a little bit of garlic and ginger paste in the first one? Like i don't know the cooking rules or whatever but would that taste good? Because i lovvve thatt pastte
Please answer i'm gonna make this tomorrow morning
j2 lover , Hello hello, honestly I never cook with ginger but it’s the kitchen and the rules are whatever! Try it first following the recipe you see in the video so you get a basic sense of how it’s meant to taste, and then perhaps make it again with the ginger? that’s the safe way but if you’re ballsy enough just do it together!! Garlic and Ginger mesh well always so it may be tasty but I don’t personally eat ginger so then again I’m not one to say hehehe happy cooking
I love it...I can’t wait to try this...
This is my new favorite channel. More Banchan!
nothing says "hi, good morning" better than half a bowl of garlic for breakfast :)
"we're not killing vampires" nope, just the neighborhood
love it tho, i'll try it
why do people not like carrots? i don't like raw carrots because when i chew them, they break apart into crumbly little pieces which i always aspirate. then, if i start coughing, those pieces get launched up the back of my throat and stuck up in my nose.
Any time of day! This all looks fantastic!
Oh my, this looks super delicious!!!
I always felt fried potatoes loose all their charm after getting cold. Maybe the previous cooking solves this?
I have a question. Do Korean's love soy sauce? I see them use it in everything.
Oh Ha Ni chan yeah they dooo
That's like asking korean's " do you like rice"😂😂 Yes,we do use soy sauce in allmost everything just like sesame oil. 😁
Oh my god all of these look incredible I wanna cry
man .. idk WHY i never came across your channel all this time !!!!?
.. the way you do every dish makes it look really simple & so easy to follow plus all that humour in between & the music that comes just in the right time ... this channel is perfection 😤💖
although i came late but i feel so lucky
keep the great work 💪🏻😎✨
Everytime I drink cold milk in the morning I get a horrible stomachache.
Jajajaja Pre me too I always get tummy ache after cereal in the morning. I haven't checked for intolerance but I might try avoiding milk for awhile and see if it helps.
