That's why piedmontese people are into korean stuff, we make a sauce to eat with cooked and raw veggies which has one whole had of garlic per person, 1/4 pund of anchovies, salt and lots LOTS of oil. It's freaking good.

Yes--in Asia there's no such thing as "breakfast food." There's just food! These recipes are also excellent for lunch, bento, or dinner. Where I live, breakfast means toast or pastry. On a cold morning, that's the last thing I want! Thanks for the inspiration, I'm in.

Hi Anna! That's right. Growing up in Korean household, I usually ate whatever was leftover from dinner. More often that not, my mom was making deonjjang jjigae stew. Get a spoonful of the stew, fry-up an egg and mix into a bowl of rice. 🤓

well I get what you're saying but there is a certain line up of dish that are staple on the morning "breakfast" table. normally they're some kind of stew, and it is probably different from each family but for mine it was almost taboo to eat meat or something overly greasy for breakfast. those meaty meals are mostly reserved for dinner.

During grade school, my mom used to force me to drink a glass of milk before I went to school. She said that milk was the only answer to grow taller than my Dad - haha! Little did she no I was lactose intolerant... (sigh 😂)... Also Korean soup soy sauce is different than the Baek's Special Soy Sauce. You can find a small bottle from the Korean mart.

I made the garlic chips along with some other recipes on your channel (braised potatoes, pickles, and spicy pork bulgogi w mushrooms and tofu substituted) for dinner the other night for my lily-white southern mom and she loved it!! Your recipes have been a game-changer! I can't wait to make these garlic chips again, they were so good! Only thing I did differently was replace the corn syrup w a quick simple syrup (equal parts hot water and sugar) since I didn't have corn syrup on hand. Thank you!!!

Omg, I Love You for not including meat! Since I am a vegetarian. But I love Korean cuisine... 😥😥😥😥 lived in Korea for half a year and actually it wasn't that hard to order food without meat, just people were usually staring at me for not wanting meat.... Lol... As lots of Koreans say "I don't trust people who don't drink or eat meat" and I do neither of these two so... Yeah.... 😅😅😅😅 anyways, I will cook all of these tomorrow and I wanna ask, do You have more Korean dishes without meat like this? Or the ones that include meat but there could be a twist to them and be done without it? I would love to eat and cook Korean food for myself. Thank You!
    Sending Love!
    Lucy

I worked for a Korean company for 15 years. My coworker was vegetarian. We are Korean food everyday. Basically he would eat bibimbap, kimchi, and mushroom Kalguksu or tofu. Every time they told him there was no meat. He explained even seafood was meat to him as he didn’t eat anything that used to be alive. After 15 years one lady told him the kimchi had oysters and the soup and bibimbap all had some sort of meat. He was devastated. Haha

I love watching food videos from different countries and cultures. It’s fun to see the concept of “dinner foods” and “breakfast foods” I grew up with turned totally upside down. 3 kinds of alliums all before noon! Lol.
I was the kid who drenched everything in maple syrup, but I’ve really come around to this whole savory breakfast thing! Anyways, thanks for your recipes and concise presentation. Really glad I found your channel!

@youtube성비 you know, as a korean, just take a look when we cook foods like soup or bulgogi. you will notice that reasonable amount of garlics are going in.

I love love loooooove what you did with the garlic! Everytime I fry garlic up with bok choi or chinese brocolli, noone eats the garlic but its part of the experience! After cooking it loses a lot of the strong garlicy taste and becomes kind of sweet on its own, ugh drool >3

Leilani hi, i don't really cook so i wouldn't know, but Can i add a little bit of garlic and ginger paste in the first one? Like i don't know the cooking rules or whatever but would that taste good? Because i lovvve thatt pastte

j2 lover , Hello hello, honestly I never cook with ginger but it’s the kitchen and the rules are whatever! Try it first following the recipe you see in the video so you get a basic sense of how it’s meant to taste, and then perhaps make it again with the ginger? that’s the safe way but if you’re ballsy enough just do it together!! Garlic and Ginger mesh well always so it may be tasty but I don’t personally eat ginger so then again I’m not one to say hehehe happy cooking

why do people not like carrots? i don't like raw carrots because when i chew them, they break apart into crumbly little pieces which i always aspirate. then, if i start coughing, those pieces get launched up the back of my throat and stuck up in my nose.
