My father had a Model 11 he bought in a pawn shop. He said when he threw it to his shoulder for the first time, he knew that was it. Many ducks and countless quail met their demise after unfortunately finding themselves on the business end of that old Model 11.
Just pulled one of these out of my great grandfather's cabinet, hasn't been shot in decades I'd imagine. My grandmother tells me it belonged to HIS grandfather, and the man. date is in 1910. Ordering some new friction rings as they're missing on this one, can't wait to shoot this piece of history.
Have you shot it yet?
The for arms and stocks crack from the recoil if you own one order a carbon fiber stock and forearm take off the wood put away in a good safe place. And install the firmer carbon
I had a model 11 in 12 gauge several years ago. It had a 28" full choke barrel with a solid rib. I found the humpback profile of the receiver aided in alignment. I did have two parts break on it, though. The mainspring broke while duck hunting .I actually heard it snap and it wasn't even being fired. The second breakage was the part of the charging handle that is recessed into the slot milled into the side of the bolt. This happened while grouse hunting. Of all the hundreds of rounds I shot at clays it never failed then, just while hunting.
Do you regret getting rid of it
My dad had a Remington Model 11 that he used for quail, squirrels, and deer. I still have the shotgun and will never sell it.
I was gifted a 1947 sportsman’s, a variant of the original model 11, by my great uncle. Really cool learning about the history and can’t wait to take it to the range/hunting.
I used to have a Remington model 11. Used it for duck and geese in southern Illinois. A lot of people have never heard of them.
i have a 1926 A5 that was my great grandmothers. One of my most prized possessions.
Does it still work smoothly?
Just got my great grandfathers taken apart and found the reason it was no longer shooting for me, wasnt that it was mever ever cleaned, but that the firing pin return spring was broken in about 10 pieces. Im sure it was still firing after the spring broke, but was only after it broke into so many peices that it stopped
Good video, thanks for creating it, I love Remington firearms, I have an old 1100 I love to shoot, thats a good gun.
I have a wing master as well & many 700’s in various calibers, Always fun to shoot and hunt with. They have all served me well.
It’s always interesting to learn about their history, thanks again.
I own the 777th 16 ga remington model 11 I believe the first year produced 1931-32 …. I call it my “lucky” gun 777…..I put it up against my mossberg 9200 turkey 12 ga w/ a extra full choke and the remington wins every time tightest pattern I’ve ever seen in a shotgun….it’s a thumper but flawless !
Many gun makers and gunsmiths around the world have spent an inordinate amount of time and effort foolishly attempting to improve upon his design, but found that it could not be done, including the designer of the BDL pistol, who was himself thought to have been a firearms wizard. Mine is a Belgian Browning Auto-5 mfg'd in 1954 and the only shotgun I have retained in my collection.
I have a 1932 Remington model 11. Never missed a beat in the 30 yrs I’ve owned it.
@@guaporeturns9472 how are your rings set up?
I have a 12 ga. A5 Belgian from '65 that my dad bought for me then, and I have his 16ga. A5 from '47 ~ intend to pass 'em on to my grandson ...
@@astapovich940they are set for heavy loads but it work with lighter ones so far. I usually shoot heavier loads for duck hunting , that’s all I do with it
Daddy had one with a Cutts compensator on it with 3 chokes. Nephew has it now. 16 ga. Man that thing is heavy.
I have a Ithaca xl900 and it has the cuts choke. has 3 settings and hits out to 100 yards easy
Mine is 100 years old!! A family heirloom...
I really wish Remington had never stopped manufacturing model 11. It's a great gun in history and should have been allowed to live on instead of being discontinued
Thank you for sharing
I actually picked up a Model 11 in auction recently. Trying to figure out how to do the elevator modification so I don't have to hold the button to load shells
My old a5 had the buffer spring tube snap, didn't realize until I tore it down to deep clean, it just kept cycling
I watched a video and says of the spring is broke it will cycle still but harder. Theres a kit for these to upgrade the spring amd newer parts.
Kurt Cobain had a Remington model 11 20 gauge.
No Courtney did...
Only for a week or so

I just traded an old dirt bike for a nice Model 11. Anyone have any ideas for sights or scopes?
Can anyone help me id my rem 12 guage? It looks exact like the browning a5. My dad bought it in the 60’s and said it was atleast 20 years old when he bought it. It has “kp” stamped on the barrell. It has a ser number of 274334 on the action or body? Of the gun. Thanks for any information
Surprised I’m not seeing a lot of comments about Kurt Cobain
The A5 model design was one of the reasons that brought about the end of market hunting of waterfowl it was a extremely an excellent tool in the hands of the seasoned market hunters!! Be it the Browning A5 the Remington model 11 or the Savage 720!
Nice '' Great Stuff 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I love my mode 11 good shot gun
I have the 1148 sportsman
My auto five works just fine.
Kicks twice with every shot.
Yep.. and once forward.
Literally just bought one few minutes ago lol 1934
They have such a weird recoil impulse… mine kicks the shit outta me
The Auto 5 is greater than the Model 11. Browning name on it instead of Remington and the Auto 5 has the magazine cutoff.
My Model 11 is greater than every Auto 5 ever made , because it’s mine.
I have both and will keep them until the day I croak ,
each one has two barrels, 👍🥰
How much is it worth nowadays
These are cheap nowadays- having sold them many times over the auction ring. Yet they are a very underrated semi auto. Many times they can be bought for a few hundred bucks or less. I got a very old one (hardly any bluing left) not long ago with the safety located inside of the trigger guard (looks like a small second trigger) for $100. Took it home and loaded a few shells in and it worked just fine. It was made in the 1920s according to the serial number.
@@mH8675309. Hello, I have my late Father’s Remington Model 11. The script model 11 is etched upon the ejection port, and the barrel is etched with Model 11A….
The barrel has patent dates from October 1900 through June 1903, and the stock has a USN cartouche, with U , anchor symbol, then S.
It’s a 12 Gauge. Might you know if it’s normal to have both the Model 11, then 11A on the barrel as it does?
I appreciate your time, and enjoyed your comment.
Best regards,
Shawn
kurt cobain had one too
