thank you so much for sharing this video Lucy. I've watched many videos on how to knit a flat panel on a round loom and this was by far the best and easiest to understand xo
Thanks Lucy. I have been trying to make a scarf to match a hat I've made. Your tutorial makes it easy. I really appreciate your patience in explaining how to achieve the end product. 👍🙋♀️🇦🇺🦘
Lucy wallice your the first british loom knitter I've heared thank you so much I was feeling lonely, I thought it was only americans an ozzys using these thank you xxxxx ps from wales x
Thank you so so much for this video! I'm a very visual learner but also have fine motor issues due to Cerebral Palsy so it takes rewinding, and no rushing from the teacher, so this was perfect. I haven't picked up my loom in years and could not figure out a rectangular one for the life of me (I should have watched your videos lol), so this is how I'm making some square Christmas presents on my round loom. I appreciate this and you!
I have only ever used needles to knit and was concerned I wouldn't understand circular loom knitting. Thanks to your clear instructions I was able to knit on the loom and teach my 6 year old daughter how to knit too! Thanks so much!
It probably is a bit unorthodox, Mark, but it works for me, and hopefully it might help a few people who are having problems doing it differently. Thanks for your comment. Lucy
Thank you very much to everyone for all the nice comments! I have been asked how many pegs would be needed to produce a 5 inch square using exactly the same method and equipment demonstrated in this video, and the answer is 15. The number of rows required depends on the quality of the yarn used (see my other video "Make an 8 inch square on a round loom"), so a bit of experimentation may be necessary to get it right. However, I have just made a quick 5 inch square sample using two strands of economy DK acrylic yarn, and that worked out at 16 or 17 rows. Hope this helps.
hi, greatto find a british one!! for me personally would be great to know which cast on and which knit stitch you are using for sure, is it the double e wrap cast on and e wrap knit stitch? thanks x
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I find it to be very clear and easy to follow. I have a question, when you take the first and last pegs and wrap in the opposite direction (counter clockwise/anti-clock) is this what keeps it from curling up at each side? Thank you
There is a little bit of curl on the edges of the squares I make using the method I demonstrate in this video. However, a few days ago I watched a very good video on loom knitting a scarf, which recommends slipping the first stitch of each row to achieve flat edges, and shows how to do this. I have not tried it out myself yet, but you might like to have a look at it: "Loom Knitting Easy Scarf for Beginners" by LoomaHat.com - here's the link: ruclips.net/video/WdxFdqy6u1s/видео.html
Hello, Yes, I have found it necessary to use 2 strands even if the yarn is very thick because otherwise the square doesn’t hold its shape. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
I made another video - see details above - called "Loom knit squares, strengthening the edges" - which you may find helpful with the "curling" problem, which many people have!
Hello Michelle, if you take a look at my other video called "Loom Knit Squares - Strengthening the edges", this should help answer your question. Thanks for your interest. Lucy
Hello Kendall, I developed my method of wrapping for making flat panels myself, and found that it worked, so I have stuck with it! I am sure there are lots of other ways it can be done, though, and hopefully you will be able to find one that suits you. Thanks for your interest. Lucy
Pinky Green Hello, I am sorry my other videos aren't showing, I am not sure why and will look into it, but in the meantime you could try searching on their titles. These are: " Loom knit squares - strengthening the edges" and "Make an 8 inch square on a round loom". Hope this helps. Lucy
If you fast forward through this video to 10'38", I show how to change yarn colour, and you could do this any number of times to create stripes. Hope this helps.

Your technique for yarning over doesn't look right to me. I hook it from the bottom and flick it over. Im not saying its wrong it just looks very unorthodox.
This was a lovely video. Clear, concise and easy to follow. It also was a joy to watch the fluidity and economy of motion as you did your work.
I really appreciate your kind comments, thank you so much! Lucy

Is it necessary to use two strands?

My edges curl! Is there any way to prevent this? Is that normal?

Very helpful tutorial! Thanks so much :-)
Why do you wind in on clockwise then after the cast on counterclockwise? I always thought it was always wrap counterclockwise?

What happened? WHERE are the rest of your videos?
Pinky Green Hello, I am sorry my other videos aren't showing, I am not sure why and will look into it, but in the meantime you could try searching on their titles. These are: " Loom knit squares - strengthening the edges" and "Make an 8 inch square on a round loom". Hope this helps. Lucy
Lucy Wallace - You've only done 3 videos?
Pinky Green Yes, only three! Lucy
Awesome thanks for the help
