Also old guys (I am one) are still strong and even pretty fast, short term. Its the stamina that goes away, mostly. Some loss of coordination and agility, also. Not wise for a punk to let me hit him, thinking I can't punch. Not only do I still have some power, but I know that I MUST hurt him early on, because my power doesn't last very long these days.

    • @5445jedi

No, the toughness and threshold of punishment are not things that are inherent or that you're born with-they're acquired. In this case, Scrap was tough and could take punishment not because he was older but because he had much more experience in the ring, more experience taking punishment, than the young boxer.

After getting personally bitch-slapped by God, that boxer would take his advice and join the 58th Pararescue Squadron, eventually becoming The Falcon.
-Coincidentally, an ad for the Air National Guard played before this video which I find hilarious because Anthony Mackie would later play Sam "The Falcon" Wilson in "Captain America 2" and his character is former Air National Guard

Why Morgan Freeman doesn't have more Oscar wins than he does is beyond me. There is something very majestic and yet very human about his performances. He manages to give us hope that maybe, just maybe, we can lift ourselves above the brutish savagery that we seem to excel at. His characters always seem grounded in the idea that although, in general, we suck ( including sone of his characters) we have the capacity to rise above it even if it is just for brief periods of time. Which is for many a willingness to keep the fire burning as a beacon in the dark.

Great movie. Saw it for the first time in Italy, dubbed into Italian. Fortunately it had closed captioning, because I can't hear for shit. It wasn't until I saw it in Mexico, with Spanish subtitles, that I realized it was Morgan Freeman doing the voiceover. Didn't matter. Great movie. The ending gutted me.
