I really hope we get a "Big Convoy" Mammoth transformer as I honestly think it's high time he gets an update imo
It'd be cool if Hasbro's Big Convoy gets branded as "Optimus Prime" and his bio refers to the tyrant Optimus Prime from the universe known as Aurex 304.0 Epsilon. As a reference to the old comics from Fun Publications.
Definitely would have to be a leader class or a commander with a few extra things
There are several BW2/Neo figures id like to see in legacy, heres hoping. This was a good start to that line, he looks good for the most part, just y'know, fix that beast face and call it good

There’s a lore reason now as to why Lio Convoy, and by extension, Big Convoy, look the way they do.
Far in the future of the Japanese G1 cartoon continuity, thousands of years after the events of Beast Machines when Beast Wars II and Neo happens, we have a breed of Cybertronians called the “Convoy type”. These bots were forged by Vector Sigma in the image of Optimus Primal, considered Cybertron’s greatest hero after Beast Machines happened. These bots were intended to be the ruling class of the planet, forming the Convoy Council. This includes Lio Convoy, Blue Big Convoy, Big Convoy, Great Convoy, Reverse Convoy, Fire Convoy, and Galaxy Convoy.
So essentially, they're like a new kind of Prime lineage.

@@ReligiousPrime Well, surprise, Reverse Convoy is actually Rebirth Megatron in disguise. In Japanese Engrish, “Rebirth” and “Reverse” sound the same.
Really hope we get more primes from the Japanese continuity and the lineage of primes that were before Optimus
There only one that not had a toy done since the original and that is "Big Convoy!" Thou I would like to see Hasbro and Takara revisit Fire Convoy (RID 2001, Optimus prime) and the Ultra Magnus from that, thou I wouldn't mind if they took another shot at Energon Prime, with that they could do the drones as separate robots that could double as legs or arms via the weaponizer gimmick!

the robot mode bits on his hind legs are accurate to how he should look...probably because the animators stuck so closely to the toy
tbh i think this guy is a bit more successful than the masterpiece, mostly because of the beast mode. the bwii anime could give them a bit of an out because it was animated with some robot mode colours poking out, but the masterpiece is just made of too many parts that are not close enough together to create a convincing animal. the lion face on this guy also isn’t perfect, but the rest of him looks so smooth and clean, it’s wonderful, feels much more whole than the masterpiece did.

This guy is my most anticipated figure of next year. As a big BW fan, BWII was a fun show and Lio Convoy has hands down one of the best designs out there honestly. Really hope we get a BWII Galvatron and more from Japanese Beast Wars.
Leo Prime! Maximize!
From the Japanese Beast War animated movie, the bloosh effect that can be done with Legacy Evo Leo Prime's chest is one half of the Double Matrix Blast. The Double Matrix Blast was done with Optimus Primal in his Burning Convoy mode and Lio Convoy in his Flash Lio Convoy mode. I'm hoping that Hasbro gives us Flash Leo Prime and Burning Optimus Primal. This would mean that the Kingdom BW Optimus Primal mold would need some retooling to create his half of the Double Matrix Blast. I doubt Hasbro will be using "Convoy", as "Convoy" is only used in Japan.
They’ll probably do something like, ‘Fire Blast Optimus Primal’, & ‘Light Force Leo Prime’.😅
I hope this means that we'll eventually gonna get Magnaboss in legacy.

When you have the tab blasters stored in the robot mode's backpack you could pretend it's a kind of jetpack, like Optimus Primal's butt-jets. They peek out of the bottom a very tiny bit, but I don't have any bloosh pieces, so I can't confirm if they'd actually fit.

I expected to like this toy, I didn't expect to fall in love with it, which I absolutely did. There's just not a lot to complain about here., overall really solid figure.
Lio prime looks very sad in his beast mode but millions of years of civil war can make any bot sad with the exception of the decepticons of course

For what it’s worth, the golden ears are show accurate. It’s the same on the original figure as well.
Oh man Lio Convoy is one of my favorites from my collection of imports. I've pre-ordered him so that once I get my new place he can join his elder incarnation on the shelf.
I love it for the most part, but legs and arms that only goes to 90° is kinda disappointing. But still, looks good and feels good.
I do enjoy this Leo Prime figure, but I don't like that the paw blades are basically backwards... Luckily, Hasbro put a swivel there to switch it around to where it's accurate.
Also is it Just me or are those blades a bit to short

I psssed on the MP because i didnt like how the lion head sat so high on the shoulder, but for this my only gripe is the lion face design, I hope 3rd party comes out with a nicer looking one.
Does it look like the lion head can position in front of the robot mode chest? I've read rumors that we're going to get a Thundertron in Legacy and I'm wondering if this is going to be retooled into Thundertron with some changes to the transformation steps.

Has the lion head been altered because it looks no where as bad as the images that where released months ago
Just bought it transforming it for the first time the head popped off and is now extremely loose wow

Now don't get me wrong this is an amazing figure but to be honest im kinda disappointed he doesn't have the actual blaster like what the masterpiece lio convoy offered,hopefully there's a dna weapons /upgrade kit later on

Sadly, my opinion of this toy didn't really change between the initial reveal and now. That lion head looks _so bad_ . I really hope that there are third party upgrade kits to replace it in the pipeline, because man oh man does that drag it down.
I just want a good Lio Convoy with no compromises, for once. But every version has something holding it back.
Perfect Effect's can go real floppy over not too long a period of time.
The Masterpiece's shoulders are a too floaty, and the beast mode is much more gappy than I'd like on an MP...and it's more expensive than I'm comfortable spending.
The Flame Toys doesn't transform. I still love it, though. The design's great and it's a really good action figure. Legit better built than 99% of my Gundam kits, but I was still left wanting for one that transforms.
Then there's this one...a mostly solid take, with a cool transformation and neat features. But the lion head is just _so_ ugly. To the point that I don't even think it looks much like a lion at all. It looks more like a weird...horse-dog...thing, than an actual lion. Now I know how people who bought Titans Return Galvatron felt...a bad head really _can_ ruin what would otherwise have been a really good toy.
Nice review as always, though Emgo. Really appreciate you still going strong after all these years!
The lion head's really not as bad in person (though the way the brow is sculpted makes it look permanently surprised/worried), it's mainly the teeth that drag the sculpt down.

That version of Optimus Primal needs a distinct name, since the fiction of that was quite different than what became canon.

I can't get past how the lion looks like someone put a mask over a big hunk of hair. His eyes really needed to be painted a different color than the mane.

No, because all of the gold on him is either painted or it's yellow plastic. Gold Plastic Syndrome is caused from the metallic swirl in plastic. The modern issue is with transparent plastic, luckily Leo doesn't have either of those.
