Hello Vahagraphy, Nice comparison video, It is good to see some one not knocking a cheeper lens yet also demonstrating one of the best 50mm lenses for the camera Z system. Keep well, keep safe and rick these video out. :)
Awesome comparsion video between the Viltrox 50mm f/1.8 and Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 lens. The Viltrox look really good for the price and the Nikon is the best quality 50mm focal length lens. Great video Vahagn.
Hi Vahagn, if the settings are identical at F/1.8, both in still and in video, it appears that the T Stop of the Nikon 1.2 lens is actually better than the Viltrox - meaning there is better light transmission even at the same F/stop - this same thing is true of the Noct 58 F/.095 versus a third party .095 - see Chris Frost's video on the subject. The point here is that not only is Nikon making awesome fast lenses but the light transmission is much closer to the true F/stop than many competing lenses. Nikon is a great optical company - the Z mount and lenses will continue to shine! -PD
The 50mm f1.2 Z lens has brought me back to using 50mm again - its that good especially for Video. I found many Chinese lenses a little darker than their f stop would indicate. If I needed a 50mm and couldn't afford the f1.2 then the f1.8 is great or maybe the Voitlander ... 🦘
I really appreciate the effort that has gone into making this video. Awesome work, Vahagn! The Viltrox is a good option, but even with a 1080P resolution and with the RUclips compression, the difference is night and day. If you want the best level of detail, the Nikkor 1.2 is the way to go.
Hello Vaha , may I havr your advice , do you care the dust in viewfinder ? I find myself very anxiety about viewfinder dust. I clean it everytime after I shoot , but it seems still a little inside it . And I don’t know why dust gets in ? Because the structure of viewfinder is different from DSLR , how can dust get in? It really makes me crazy.
Im actually quite surprised how well the viltrox stands up against the Nikkor. I can see why pros would buy the 1.2 but for most users the viltrox is more than good enough, although if i was in the market for a 50mm lens id probably end up buying the Z 1.8s
I’ve seen the the z50mm f/1.8s for as low as $399. You can spend 4 time the money but will you get 4 times the results and will anyone else really notice besides the person who took the photo.
Gotta admit the Viltrox looks pretty good. Nice comparison Vahagn.
Great content. Production is top notch. Thank you rock on!

Good video. Nikon is knocking it out of the park with the 1.2’s .. can’t wait for the 35mm 1.2

Nice! Maybe one day when I have a studio...

Randy Bocksnick(Montana) A very, very interesting video and well done! Thanks Vahagn!
I used the Viltrox with my Z50 and I think it was better and more convenient then the G-series 50mm with FTZ adapter and the lens was sharp.
Yees this was helpful thanks!

On the viltrox 50mm, hows the flare and CA?
For. video work, do you recommend staying away from zoom lenses. It seems that would be too much glass to move.
The huge lenses from the Nikon Z system kinda* have always put me off. I gotta get over it though cause' I see a Z 8 for me in the near future 😂

The contrast difference between the two is blatantly obvious even on a small screen.
