Basically agree with your Naughty & Nice picks but I have to say, the 14-30 f4 is just so amazing as the versatile ultra wide zoom it is, especially for landscapes and interior and exterior architecture.
I disagree with the 40 and 28 SE being on your naughty list, though the never on sale is annoying. At MSRP, or in a kit, the extra $10 is well worth it to have somewhere to grip to mount the darn thing. Too many of the Z mount lenses suffer from "where the heck do I grab it?!" when taking it off or on the bayonet, I'm really glad I spent the bit extra on those.

I disagree with the relative assessments on the f1.8S lenses. The thing is that the Z 50 f1.8S is way too cheap, and that is what throws you off. That lens should be at least $1000 and maybe $900 on sale. It's easily that good. If that were the case, the Z 35 f1.8S and Z 85 f1.8S would then seem properly priced on a relative basis. The Z 20 f1.8S is another extreme bargain, given that it is the very best ultra wide to wide prime or zoom of any system of any format currently available on the market, period, end stop. I also disagree on the Z 400 f4.5 and Z 180-600. Those are not good values at all, especially that 400. It should be no more expensive than the Z 100-400, and even that is a stretch. It's really not that good of a mid-range prime compared to what else exists. The 300 PF is arguably better and can be gotten for $800 in 10/10 condition in the used market. The 500 PF is definitely better and can be gotten for $1700 in 10/10 condition in the used market. $3000 on sale is crazy talk for the Z 400 f4.5. The 180-600 is way overpriced, being that the Z 100-400 with a 1.4x TC is essentially that lens in a smaller, lighter, better balanced package and the F 200-500 in 10/10 condition can be gotten for a bit over $800 for that that don't mind the weight, bigger, poor balance.

But Nikon set the prices and standards so I can’t give any slack to the 35 1.8 because of where the 50 SHOULD be. I regardless of price of the 400 4.5, this is a Z mount list, and while we agree the 300 is a good lens, when the other Z prime option is $14k, I’m giving it nice it nice list all day haha Thanks for watching
Agree with most of what you say EXCEPT Your opinion on the 180-600 is ludicrous. It is stupid cheap on sale. It’s waay better than the 200-500 in every way. You clearly havnt tried it. Agree with you on your S prime thoughts however.
@@SingleTrack66 The Z 180-600 has never been on sale. In fact, its more expensive now than at launch by $200. BTW, I own the Z 180-600, and I bought it when it launched at the lower price. If I were to sell any of my F/Z glass, it would literally be the first lens I would sell.
@ZWadePhoto I'm a noob and want to get a prime lense just to play around with creatively. I was looking at the 35mm 1.4, but the price tag had me hesitant. Alternatively I was looking at the 26mm. You kinda confirmed my suspicions. Save myself $200 right now.

However you really should have the 50mm f1.4 on your nice list because if features an Aperture (control) ring AND it is the finest 50mm f1.4 lens that Nikon has ever produced. BTW, I have an S2 rangefinder with the first edition 50mm f1.4 setting about 6 feet away, so when I say Finest Ever I say it with actual experience with every generation of 50mm f1.4.

FM4 film camera 6. Special Edition Z series of all metal compact primes with aperature rings and AF Any one of these would make my year.
For the record, I agree that the sales on the Z100-400 S are very tempting and nice, but I will probably have to settle for an 85mm f2 AIS on ebay for my FM for this Christmas.

speaking of 24-120 f4, how it performs in low light situations? my 24-70 f4 is struggling to focus in dark conditions, even with the flash
