I always tell people who dont watch f1, that if you really wanna know why and how F1 races are more intense than it looked, try and play an F1 game with minimal to no assists and in a mid to bottom teams. You can feel how delicate and intense battles are in races. Battles for points dont only lie within the wheel to wheel battles. So glad to see this video! I've been grinding the codies f1 games since 2012. Lots of ups and downs in the yearly iterations but I'm very happy that 2019 was the one you decided to give a shot and talk about. It's a wonderful game. The codemasters games have seemingly endless depth. When you're first learning, there's the burden of building muscle memory for how the cars behave, having to memorize lines, braking points, and turn in points for ~20 tracks, learning pit strategies, etc. But the more you play the game, new challenges present themselves as old ones become mastered. And this pattern doesn't stop no matter how high up the leader boards you are as a player. There is always another layer of complexity to these games that you can master to gain time.
I like how until 2020, there were so many good comments about their games, yet nowadays everyone shits on them to the point it seems weird that someone is giving compliments to the franchise
I wish more racing games were like this. I dont care much for racing and never played any racing games, but a rivalry and interview system could get me hooked.
This is why I love iRacing. You get the intense side by side racing... But it's versus real people who take the sim seriously. You earn people's trust, you gain real rivals.
Not even half-way through the video, you did the impossible, and sold me on the F1 game ! I thought it would have been just a repetitive race and only race thing, but it has so much more depth then i ever would have thought. So thank you for this amazing video !
Recently I became friends with someone in Germany, he convinced me to get this game. I was skeptical at first. Especially because I was unfamiliar with the F1 series. Eventually I caved and picked it up used, and to my surprise I love it! It is way more intense than I expected it to be and I now have a new sport I am into because of this game. Can't wait to see the next F1 season because how exciting this sport and game is!
2018 was my first F1 game and it was definitely among the best racing games I’ve ever played. Great to hear that 2019 has pushed the winning formula that little bit further.
I've always loved f1 but seeing drive to survive basically gave me a behind the scenes of the races and that made my love grow to a different level and seeing the challenge made me hooked... it is also the same reason I bought the game, interesting how we basically have the same story I wonder if more people went down the same road.
I got into F1 because F1 2017 was cheap on steam and I played it. It made me want to know more about the real life sport and I've been hooked for the past year and a half. I've sunk a few hundred hours into 17,18 and 19 combined and I have to say 19 is one of the best games I have ever played in terms of enjoyment.
Longtime subscriber here, and as a hard-core F1 fan and sim racer I came here expecting a thrashing because I was expecting even the F1 games would be too much for someone like you. I was surprised. You actually picked up on the right points, and presented them really well. Motorsport is fascinating, and people need to know that. Codemasters F1 games are great for people who don't want to spend 1 hour a day practicing (as you do need for iRacing) for months at a time, preparing for a race, as I do. I love that you used the term simcade, as that's really what fits. Sadly, you didn't mention it doesn't have VR, which is crucial for racing. Really nice to see the masses getting interested in such a complex sport, I support this video wholeheartedly! I would love to see you invest 2000 EURos into a SimRig and join us at iRacing, Assettto Corsa, or rFactor2 races. You seem like a guy who would do very good tyre management! :)
Thanks! But oh hell no, I go through tires like a Teenager goes through personality traits. I've always been a bit too intimidated by iRacing, but perhaps one day when I get my Direct Drive.
@@Raycevick Nope, don't believe you. :) That's because you haven't experienced a deeper tyre model! The tyres are a thinking man's game, and youre one of those, 4 sure. ;) You would love it, I encourage you to think about it. Wow, I have the same story. I watched F1 as a kid with my dad. Then a few months ago I found the Netflix show and also got hooked. I started watching all the races and got caught up. I pre-ordered the F1 2019 game and used a controller at first. A few weeks later I bought a sim rig and thrustmaster wheel. I absolutely love this game.
"Red Bulls can't match Ferrari on the straights, but are right at home in Monaco thanks to their downforce and cornering" I guess it really does give you wings
No combination is sweeter than Codemasters and racing. I adore all of their series. DiRT, GRiD, their old IndyCar games, and the biggest one they have, F1. There is a reason they have the F1 license, because they are damn good with it. My first one was F1 2014, then I got 2017, and got super invested in that, and then I also got 2018 when it was on a good sale. I would totally get 2019 but my money whore right now is iRacing. I actually started playing 2012 recently to get a V8 F1 vibe going. All of the years are inherently different, where other sports titles just like FIFA, Madden, and other countless series lack in.
No games get my heart rate and adrenaline going like good racing games. Fighting games can get close but a good race literally has my body thinking I was actually just in a dangerous and close race.
Damn Raycevick this video is the perfect encapsulation of why you are my favorite gaming youtuber. I care not at all for F1 but now im actually considering buying this game just to experience what you described
Brilliant and enjoyably brief vid of what you're playing, and what you like and dislike about it, and WHY. Keep up the great work👍 Serious fellow racing gamer. I've been on the fence about getting into F1 games for the past couple years. Reasoning is because I literally have a legion of games, and my nightmare is investing my funds into a game that I won't like, let alone don't enjoy playing. Also, I dislike yearly gaming series as they tend to be pretty fucking unremarkable and rote: NFS, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, any sports title, etc.
You just described why I played a few of these earlier and that is the RPG element. It's really interesting and addicting. I just wish they'd shook things around a bit sometimes other than small upgrades. At least different cutscenes and animations every year. I'd buy the newest ones, if it were so.

I really didn't expect to enjoy this because I could never see myself playing this type of serious racer games even though I have been a fan of F1 since I could remember. But I could really feel that this video was a result of a huge satisfying journey that started from a small fire and I appreciate that a lot. it's always very nice to see how someone gets suddenly invested and passioned about something new. ( in that regards I really really really suggest the documentary "Speed", and if you want a good action film about F1 "Rush" is the best choice ).But all that been said I am constantly feeling like I can't understand the point of this types of videos you make, I don't know if it's my English skills or maybe a lack of understanding but it is really hard for me to get a perspective on them, for example, was this a good game or Bad? do you have more interest in the sport itself or the game that it's based on? do you want racing games to be RPG or only about the races? and most of all do you recommend this game or not?. in this world of youtube we are used to being spoon-feed everything and that's probably on us but still, I could always see the benefits of a longer and more structured video than one jam-packed full of info but short. but nonetheless, this was definitely a joy to watch and I wish you all the best.
I don't know anything about racing, but this actually looks dope. It's great to see you rant about the things you like while also mentioning their many flaws.

You're very welcome. Hope you enjoy it! (Just don't pick Renault)
love how u drop an f1 video hours before the Belgian GP
Recently I became friends with someone in Germany, he convinced me to get this game. I was skeptical at first. Especially because I was unfamiliar with the F1 series. Eventually I caved and picked it up used, and to my surprise I love it! It is way more intense than I expected it to be and I now have a new sport I am into because of this game. Can't wait to see the next F1 season because how exciting this sport and game is!
I got back into F1 due to Drive to survive as well. My favourite motorsport reviewed by one of my favourite youtubers!
I never thought I would be interested in a F1 game yet following the scene for over 15 years. But now I'm gonna get F12019. Damn this looks so cool
@Raycevick and @ChainBearF1 my favorites.
2018 was my first F1 game and it was definitely among the best racing games I’ve ever played. Great to hear that 2019 has pushed the winning formula that little bit further.
RIP Anthoine Hubert, F2 driver, after a crash in the Belgium GP 2019.
I've always loved f1 but seeing drive to survive basically gave me a behind the scenes of the races and that made my love grow to a different level and seeing the challenge made me hooked... it is also the same reason I bought the game, interesting how we basically have the same story I wonder if more people went down the same road.
I swear Raycevick can talk about the most boring stuff and ill still be hooked
SillenT So your calling racing boring?
SillenT I don’t think boring is the word your looking for. Probably things that just aren’t for you
@@nathangoodrick6286 F1 gay
F1 boring? Okay...
Watch the German grand prix from this year. Then tell me what’s boring
You hate your voice? Damn your writing and commentary is one of the main reasons I watch your videos lol
Just keep an occasional eye out for second hand deals for DD wheels, some amazing ones pop up in US an Europe all the time! :)
@@ekstrajohn I took a gamble on the FeelVR wheel over Indiegogo. I'll find out if those Ukrainians make a decent product next year.
Hey, and the real F1 race is about to start (hope max wins)
Ohno.
lewis will win yet again

Yes! Leclerc won
And not too happy with Max, ruined Kimi’s race
5:13 Lando Norris in a Rich Energy Haas racing suit is the most cursed thing i've ever seen.
In my game Lewis Hamilton is in Renault
Interesting video
Whitelight, but you sound more and more like that Raycevick guy.
Sorry, the stresses of F1 driving get to my head sometimes
I gotta be honest, i didnt expect to see Whitelight here, so i was very confused for some reason
You always manage to get me enthralled with games you showcase.
But where does Spec Ops: The Line fit into all this?
Both of em throws you a curve?
EpicMailPotato which begs the question...just how good is mass effect?
Because we all wanted to feel like something we are not: a successful F1 driver (and all its challenges and bells and whistles). You thought SO:TL's messages were merely laser-focused towards military shooters, huh?
(and the coincidence that the name of SO:TL's main character is essentially a mix of those of F1 commentators Martin Brundle and Murray Walker)
Dubai connects the 2
Wow, I have the same story.
My favourite RUclipsr meets my favourite sport. I guess it's been a good day then.
What in the world, I didn't know an F1 game was this deep. There is a whole infrastructure under the simple premise of racing cars, and I *love* it.
Always great to see a fellow f1 fan. Shame the timing after what happened yesterday but yeh great video!
But today Leclerc won for him
Happily wait for Rays videos. They are always great. He even gets me interested in the last game I'd pick up form the shelf.
"Red Bulls can't match Ferrari on the straights, but are right at home in Monaco thanks to their downforce and cornering"
I guess it really does give you wings
That Nascar 2003 was top tier nostalgia
No games get my heart rate and adrenaline going like good racing games. Fighting games can get close but a good race literally has my body thinking I was actually just in a dangerous and close race.

This guy just roasted Hermann Tilke
Fantastic video man. Feels like a love letter to these kinds of games, and makes me want to go and play them even more.
He use f1 challenge 99-02 menu music. Ahh the memories
Had to scroll a lot until I found someone else who noticed.
Keep up the great work👍
Serious fellow racing gamer.
Nice background songs pick, brings back the nostalgia of playing f1 challenge 99-02
Every time you win in F1 you should play Tema Da Vitoria because that's what Ayrton Senna would want
Seems a bit pointless
I'm really happy to see you making videos on racing games! This genre needs all the attention it can get
12:33
So I guess this is also a Tide ad
After watching the tragic events live at Belgium, this video made me smile once again. Motorsport is a dangerous sport, and death cannot be avoided.
2:29, Football*
You just described why I played a few of these earlier and that is the RPG element. It's really interesting and addicting. I just wish they'd shook things around a bit sometimes other than small upgrades. At least different cutscenes and animations every year. I'd buy the newest ones, if it were so.
The first like 50 secs is just as accurate to my story on how i got into f1 again:D lmao
Eloquence. Passion. Critical insight. He's managed to sell me on something I've never given a second thought to.
"so i finally played an F1 game"
*Anthonie Hubert dies*
Damn
Come on man, he isn’t “Some F2 driver”, his name is Anthoine Hubert
"some F2 driver" he was the fourth muskerteer,
Guess there not doing so well

One got demoted
and the one doing well technically isn't French

calm down man, it was just a small honour to anthoine
I love that you compared it to Wipeout, that's what i tell people who are interested but don't know anything about F1, being familiar with it helps but at its core it's Wipeout (though i'm a Rollcage kinda guy).
brilliant video, and waheyyy ChainBear shoutout
Your love of racing is infectious, I wish that I possessed such enthusiasm for the sport
I've been checking back on the channel every day after you teased us with the fucking nuke scene and it's still not here. I haven't even played COD 4 in years so I don't really know why this matters to me so much but... please!
I was glad to see the love for Chain Bear F1 in the video. I have no intention of watching an F1 race, but still watch all his videos
absolutely. Chainbear is actually a reason why I got BACK to following and now watching (occasionally) the F1 again.
Raycevick: So... I Finally Uploaded
Finally
Wtf is your profile pic? That literally shows hitler
I have just recently gotten into and F1 and Raycevick so this video has made me really happy.
11:16 Anyone gonna talk about XMattyG in the background there? No?
Big fan of your channel and a big F1 fan, im in heaven!
DACODY98: "WHAT IS A MECHANIC FROM AN OLDER RAINBOW SIX GAME THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN SIEGE?"
Ray: "CAMPAIGN!"
With you all the way on that.
Formula one games are the only annualized release I will regularly pick up. It's very nice to know I'm not nuts for that.
Hey man, will you do a Control review?
Yes please best single player game of 2019 imo.
I really want to play it soon, being a Remedy fan.
Damn, I did not expect to love this video as much as I did. Great job.
What do you think of dirt Rally 2.0 and the WRC games?
I can't believe Kimi Räikkönen is STILL racing! Last time I saw a race he was in was back aroun the early 2000's when he was still with McLaren. What a guy!
2:58 Funny, Christian Sylt has been panned for not doing real journalism and coasting off random snippets given his way by former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
What’s Lando doing at Haas....
I can tell you enjoyed making this👌🏻
Wait, you've actually played Halo Infinite? or are you just messing with us?
I don't know anything about racing, but this actually looks dope.
It's great to see you rant about the things you like while also mentioning their many flaws.
I've been engaged by enough channels like JrRizzo & SlapShoes to believe that passion for a topic can be enough engage people.
@@Raycevick Well, I learned this after watching YOU!
Also, thanks for reply! Nice of you to come visit us in the dark bottom of the comment section.

When’s So I’ve Finally Played... Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) coming?
I appreciate seeing some Wipeout footage in this video, super underrated series
PROJECT CARS 2, what do you think?
Feels pretty bad on console + controller, IMO, after playing the demo on PS4. I heard it's much better on PC.
I got it in a humble monthly and i've only played it for 23 minutes before deciding "no, this doesn't feel right" and promptly uninstalled it.
I’m legit excited for the CoD4 Years Later, considering I just bought it as a newcomer to the franchise. I can feel that intensity that people always look back on fondly.
