Hello everyone,
Welcome to another Pokemon Challenge Video!
In this video, we see if I could beat Pokemon White2 with ONLY a team of GIFT Pokemon.
This will be my seventh challenge, and it is something new. Let's see how long I can keep track of these, so comment down below to let me know where I can improve things and suggestions for future challenge videos

@@SolarPrimal i tried to do this challenge with pokemon white 1 (since i thought you got more gifts in that one) hoo boy i had absolutely no idea how hard that game is
This is how I beat Pokémon white as a kid, only using my gift emboar to sweep everything and the pansage to use cut.
I can confirm this as my nephew did this very thing until about half way into the game when he realized he should be training some of these other Pokémon he caught lol

This is true in Black/White, but not in Black2/White2.

I don’t totally disagree about Snivy. But, based on the available gift Pokemon, we get Deerling later on, so having two grass types on the team wouldn’t be our best move.

I'm so used to seeing people do this challenge for the first two gens, so I've forgotten what the gift Pokemon from other gens are. Glad more people are branching out with this type of challenge*

Yes of course! My brain was still back in my previous challenge of HeartGold when I was battling Pokémon Trainer Red’s Pikachu that knows Volt Tackle. So busy trying to come up with strategies around it that “Volt Tackle” came out instead of “Volt Switch”.

Right on the first three, but I wasn’t able to pick up the rest. Gyarados and Blissey are inaccessible until after defeating the Elite Four and Champion.

Zoroark is such a great Pokemon. It's also the reason I beat Marlon's Jellicent when I was 8 because I only trained my Emboar. :)

Yea every gen ai gets confused by Illusion. It will always use super effective attacks so you can set up some fights in your challenge runs by impersonating correct pokemon with zoroark.
It was my first using Zoroark and I can see why folks enjoy using it.

I always go for a weaker move the first time a gym leader heals their Pokémon so it breaks sturdy or does enough damage so it fully knocks out the Pokémon next turn
Agreed. I forget Sturdy exists sometimes. It certainly changes up the strategy a little.

I wonder how many people have realized that I am no longer responding to any “volt tackle” comments. Feel free to comment and we can start a conversation. But don’t expect a reply for any smooth brain “volt tackle volt switch” comments.
For those wondering, around this time of producing this video, I had just completed the previous Pokemon Challenge (HeartGold with one Chimchar), so Pikachu's "Volt Tackle" was still fresh in my mind, thus the mix up of "Volt Tackle" with "Volt Switch".
There is your explanation, so you all can stop asking. Actually, ask anyways, comments are good for the RUclips algorithm...

I think I would more likely have had Emboar learn Wild Charge that late in the game. Not to say your opinion is wrong, it’s just not what I would’ve done.

I think the Elesa battle would have been easily doable without grinding if you had just equipped a cheri berry instead of leftovers, or else just tried until you didn't get paralyzed by Static, which only has a 30% chance of activating. Then you could set up Flame Charges and outspeed Emolga.
Truth be told, I forgot about Cheri Berries being an option. But I recall not having any Cheri Berries available at this point in the game. I have done this strategy in later videos though.
As for trying until I get a run where we don’t get paralyzed, that is what I did. I didn’t revert to the save file before the battle would be a waste of time compared to slowly leveling up on our failed attempts at the battle. Better to make progress rather than doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result #definitionofinsanity

I still remember playing and resetting my pokemon black 2 cartridge and using all the starters I personally love oshowatt but since I have 2 ds I can use all the starters but I did not think of that at first

Signature moves are a move that only a certain pokemon can learn. Like moongeist beam/blast, which only lunala can have (Unless you get it by metronome). Enjoy your knowledge!

I remember when I first played pokemon black and my leavanny was like level 65 and swept the elite four while the rest of my team was like level 45-50.🤣
Nice! Yeah, seems fairly easy to get through the Pokémon league in Gen5. It can be tricky with only one depending on the moves and their PP.
@@SolarPrimal this is why I'm a big fan of hardcore nuzlockes and rulesets which force you to be even with most of your opponents makes it alot more interesting imo.
It certainly raises the stakes and gets you to strategize things differently

I think the early game rival fights have some altered AI where Hugh does whatever he can to let you win.
I’m trying to do a monotype steel nuzlocke of White 2 and I’ve had like 4 attempts where things got dicey in the 2nd fight with Hugh (riolu down to 1-3 hp while tepig is at 75%) that I won because Hugh just decided not to use a damaging move multiple turns in a row.
That’s interesting. I’ll have to pay attention in future White2 runs.
21:31 This is because the AI is either trying to use a super effective psychic type move on a fighting type, or is prioritizing dream eater because the target is asleep. The AI checks the identity of the pokemon Zorua/Zoroark is disguised as, minus the stats and ability.
Hopefully this was a clear and simple explanation.
With my Zoroark I defeated the flying gym the swanna got my little fox to 1 hp and I used foul play (I abused foul play to get Zoroak caught in levels by defeating higher level Pokémon)

Understandable. That when the Team Plasma plot really picks up. There is a lot of backtracking to find their frigate and the battle against Ghetsis is tough.

i was confused as to how they were switching with "volt tackle" but then realized the move was volt switch, not volt tackle. shouldve included some text on the side correcting yourself!

Is the character you use in your videos supposed to be styled like Aniki from Gurenn Lagann?
The sprite is made up a few different pieces that have been recolored to match my channel’s color scheme.
Throughout my channel I’ve used a few custom game sprites as my avatar. This one is mostly a combo of Pokémon Trainer Blue’s head, Professor Kukui’s sunglasses, and a Scientist NPC. All sprites sourced from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

I don't know if the whole catching pokemon for hms is fair because the only two you need to beat the game are surf and strength and if you had picked oshawott, samurott could learn both of those
That’s a fair point. You’re not wrong. I would caution on using Surf on the team in this game due to the amount of double/triple/rotation battles.
Plus, I’ve just always followed the HMs rule to get around that hurdle. Otherwise 90% of these challenge videos would be impossible.

Right you are! I addressed the mix up in a previous comment on this video, simply, at the time of recording that portion I was just coming off of the heels of a HeartGold Challenge so the battle against Pokemon Trainer Red was still fresh in my mind with his Pikachu knowing Volt Tackle. I pay closer attention in future White2 Challenges going forward.

Whoopsie! I know around this time I was fresh off completing a battle against Pokémon Trainer Red in HeartGold and his Pikachu uses Volt Tackle. I believe my brain just saw it as Volt Switch but then I would say Volt Tackle instead. No worries, I had made sure to pay closer attention in future challenges against Elesa.

Oh yeah. That’s an old mispronunciation tick from when I first played Gen5. Because there Timburr then Gurdurr, so without reading and seeing the final evolution holding columns I assumed the name was “Colendurr”.
Since other comments have remarked on my mispronouncing of some names, I’ve looked up the proper way to say these name for future videos. Though some ticks are harder to break than others 😁

I usually pick the easy Pokémon to get and then train it up a lot. Like braviary, zebstrika, archen/archeops, my starter (i can work with any of them but i prefer emboar and samurott as serp is only great when it gets coil.)
I think I’m just bias towards Fire starters lol

Fair question. For this challenge, any Pokémon that needed to be caught by pokeball wouldn’t be considered as gifted Pokémon

it would have been more interesting if you used curtis/yancy to get more pokemon (u would need either a female starter or female deerling to breed with zorua to get pokemon to trade)
