Do a 6th gen playthrough with only the first bird pokemon you encounter from each previous generation Kanto: Pidgey Johto: Hoothoot Hoenn: Taillow Sinnoh: Starly Unova: Pidove Kalos: Fletchling Do not evolve any and can only use carry items for the pokemon no items in battle. I honestly mainly choose charmander because you get too many water types and in late game venasaur usually gets used as a support pokemon in late game and makes early game too easy. Well that and fire types are rare. I actually beat Red version in a gift lock with Charizard, Lapris and Jolteon.

Omanyte is generally better than kabutops in gen 3 because of the higher special attack or every water move in gen 3 Omanyte: better water type Kabutops: better rock type

You should do pokemon: platinum - only gift Pokémon. There a total of 5 gift Pokémon, your starter, a togepi, an eevee, a porygon, and a riolu. So it could be a little more challenging, if you are down.

Pro tip for Jolteon users in FRLG: level up your Eevee to level 30 before evolving it to Jolteon. It gets Bite at that level which is a good special coverage. Shadow Ball is physical in gen 3, while Bite is special. Flareon and Vaporeon gets Bite at level 30, but not Jolteon.
I was so confused. You said Gift in the Thumbnail and I thought you mean the type Gift. In Germany is gift=Gift/Poison Pokemon. Now I know it, because I read it in the comments.(I am from Germany) Btw: You choose Bulbausar and it has the Poison Type😂
I've tried this challenge with the almost exact same team, except omastar was replaced by alakazam. Before you say anything, This alakazam isn't the wild one. You can buy an abra in the game corner. I know It's buyable pokemon, but I bought it with only hidden coins across the room, so technically I got it for free.
When I was thirteen I played my first pokemon game leaf green in 2005, I started with a balbasaur and that’s the only pokemon I trained I did not know there was an item to replinish pp “the ether” because I never bothered to read its description, so to finish league I taught my Venasaur cut and strength instead of sludge bomb and razor leaf since I finished all pp’s as I move towards champion, so I had used only the starter without pp replenish items. It was hard and some how I completed the game with a level 88 Venasaur with cut and strength 😎😎😎 PS - I killed all the legendary birds, used master ball on Snorlax.
Short answer: yes. I've done it before. Actually enjoy such playthroughs Edit: if you'd picked up that magikarp, you could have used gyarados as an hm slave
Coverage, that would be 3 out of 6 Water types for battles. Jolteon STAB Electric moves are useful against the Elite 4 and Lapras offers the same as Vaporeon with STAB ice moves
Good run but maybe drop the hm slaves in the future ones unless no gift Pokemon can learn ones relevant to progressing. (Like if there are no gift Pokemon that can learn surf and you need it to progress)

My jolteons best move is a glitch move called parabolic charge and is a physical attack
That drains health and does so much damage

The only ones I used Oddish for were flash and cut. strength, fly and surf were all on my main team :)
