I am the leading expert in Billy Hatcher multiplayer… well, I’ve never played the story. Me and my siblings would destroy each other in the versus game mode… to the point that I memorized the individual patterns of the eggs(so as to know what monsters/power up was in each egg) there are like five different types of egg monsters(small & rideable), egg, power ups, hats(w/different ways of controlling and maneuvering the egg), items(such as an item to stop all enemy players in time), and bombs(like an enemy, chasing bomb, and a bomb that hide itself as a random egg) all the elements combine so you and three friends can maneuver somewhat large arenas(we would always choose the “Pirates Bay “because it was the second largest map, that and we would always play four player co-op. This would help with egg spawn, and the amount of eggs in the map plus the rounded shape would allow for most player’s to find each other very quickly.) besides the OG eggs, there were other more rare eggs(imagine like shiny Pokémon) and either a rainbow egg or a special sonic egg(those would include Sega characters, such as sonic and friends, knights, Amigo… ECT) DON’T BE FOOLED these eggs were special, but not worth the extra attention(they were shiny, and the sonic ones were silver, and could be easily recognized. This would almost definitely get you down a LifePoint.) despite the large amount of eggs to choose, they would spawn very evenly so the main strat is to find a monster(hopefully a mount) and attack and k!ll the other players this would do a number of things (one) you would lose your monster(but it would not de spawn if you were fast and could find it, you can “befriended“ it again, but that could also leave it open to be “befriended“ Buy an enemy player…) (two) you would lose your egg power up (three) you can lose your hat(which could also be stolen by another player) and (four) you lose a life obviously(lose them all and you’re out of the game) this would all lead to a stressful and fun situation, where you have a good egg/hat combo and then lose it all to your enemy… most monsters had very similar attacks most of the time the direction and verticality of the attack would change from monster to monster(for the most attack potential, you have a monster and roll an extra egg. That way you can always have an extra hit even if your monster doesn’t hit + running around without an egg is an easy way to get hurt as eggs can be used A number of times as defense before it breaks) some monsters (like mounts) could attack directly Infront of them allowing for both mobility and versatility they were the best most guaranteed way to dispatch of your enemies... (no shiny eggs were mounts) Hats would vary in usefulness (from jumping high, maneuvering around obstacles like sand and water, to the ability to remote control an egg from any distance) the power up were more useful but considerably more rare... (shrink, defensive eggshell, invincibility, invisibility, break all eggs, make players fall asleep, steal items, and freeze time) there was a extra life egg as well as three bomb eggs in their own black and red pattern(heat seeking bomb, camo egg bomb, and throwable bomb) all this and more with environmental hazards, egg jump pads, and the ability to do a egg bash propelling your character forward all this would provide a fun and memorable experience... As a young child me and my family were obsessed with multiplayer games so when i saw that this game had 4 player action gameplay i had to buy it and let me tell you it had it all... the creators of the game didn't have to add this mode in but Billy Hatcher, Mario cart DD, Starfox assault, and Custom Robo, were the only things me and my siblings could talk about!!! the Game Cube was truly the place to be for multiplayer in the early 2000's and I'm extremally glad i got to play this (at the time) under rated classic!!! thank you...💀🤓

Yesterday, SEGA announced a bunch of their legacy franchises would be getting new games, with Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage confirmed. Hoping that means good news for Billy Hatcher!
It was so wild hatching Sonic from an egg when i saw this game at a friends house as a kid. And the Cuckudoodledoo will always have a place in my cold dead heart
This is such a "Wait.. remember that one?" game for me. I hadn't got video games at home yet, but the daycare my parents left me at during the summer had a GameCube with no memory card. Because they had no memory card, my slate got wiped clean every day. They had Double Dash and this game. I was a kid and had never played video games, and I had no idea what I was doing. Every day I would imagine how I could get further in the game the next day or what I could unlock in Double Dash. I think I only ever got as far as hatching the first elder, but it kept me thrilled the entire summer! I never played this game ever again after that summer 15 or so years ago, so this game only exists in vague memories to me.
If Sega made a $30/$40 Remaster with quality of life enhancements I’d buy it for every system day one. Billy Hatcher is such an underrated gem of a game! A game more people need to experience
I absolutely loved this game growing up! It was an absolutely great memory that somehow felt like a fever dream and when I finally remembered it I wasn't sure it was real and couldn't find the name of it for awhile
I always get excited when I see someone making a video about Billy Hatcher. This game has such a special place in my heart so I've very happy you covered it.
Man this game takes me back… and hearing about the final boss makes me realize I never actually beat it! I think my brother and I just replayed the first three or so worlds over and over, and did a LOT of multiplayer. But damn if that music isn’t pounded into my skull. So nice to see someone talk about it!
I remember raging as an 8 year old on that one golden egg mission where you have to roll it on a track and catch it before it flew off and you insta-failed.
15 years later and the GOOD MORNING!! makes sense now :D thanks so much for liking billy hatcher too.. i just feel like its such a niche game to know about.

This game is special to me. Billy Hatcher kick-started my love for speedrunning and I've been able to make so many friends online through our shared enjoyment of the game. I would even go as far as to say that I met some of my best friends through a mutual love for the speedrun. Last summer I finally got to meet a majority of the game's european speedrunning community and it was the greatest week of my life. Loving this double Fringemas. I've been watching the odd video here and there the last few months but seeing you upload every day I make a point of watching every one you release and they've all been great so far, you must have put some amount of work into this.

Weird British Weeb Core Memory Unlocked: I had a tv in my bedroom with a scart lead from the box downstairs into my room upstairs, and I also had a VCR. Loved this game back when I was a kid! Won my copy through a sweepstakes on the FoxBox, which also included a putty inside an egg. Had so much fun memories with this game and I believe this game needs more love than it deserved.
