  • 8ft Plywood Boat That Fits Inside My Car - Basic Water Testing & Final Assembly - Part Four
I need a small take apart nesting boat which will fit inside my car, but which is light enough for me to take down to the river and fit together easily.
This boat needs to be able to carry myself, plus all of my fishing equipment, but it still needs to be relatively small and stable. I am trying to reduce any possibility for capsizing to the absolute minimum by building detachable Outriggers, (or Pontoons or Stabilisers) which can be raised or lowered as necessary.
Today I am doing basic water testing to make sure there are no leaks and then I will strip all the fittings off, paint it and finally reassemble the boat ready for use.
I have absolutely no knowledge of boat building and I am not a professional woodworker, so please make any criticisms constructive ones. I can always learn from my mistakes and possibly build a Mark 2 version.

Were gonna need a bigger boat. That thing is so cool man. You could just paint the floor white or replace it with white rubber. Your boat is so seaworthy. Hope youll give an update about longevity of your boat and lessons youve learned for the next iteration.

Get an inflatable kayak instead... :)
Never have to sand/varnish. Packs away small in your shed. Can stand up in it. Can fit a small electric motor. Lighter.
    Nice work all the same.

I've had kayaks and I still own an inflatable. I even have a trolling motor, but all of these things have downsides when you get older. Next weeks video will show how comfortable the new boat is, plus how much storage room it has, but the most important thing is that I don't have to lift anything heavy like 80 Amp batteries for trolling motors or large outboard motors. My 5.8 HP outboard weighs 44lbs. Thanks for your comments though.

Thanks Pete. I do actually have an electric trolling motor, but the 80 Amp battery is much too heavy for me to keep picking up at my age. Unfortunately, it also doesn't last all that long if you want to get from place to place. I know the little Chinese motor is very noisy, but it's also quite light and I can take an extra litre of petrol to get me as far as I need to go. I may take the trolling motor out sometimes, but I would probably still need the petrol motor if I want to go far.😃😃👍

It looks like a fun boot. The way you didn't the connection to the pantoons you could make it a trimaran with outriggers that hold the platoons further away. For getting to places to fish not needed. But maybe if you want to use is as a fishing platform.
