Great video! I loved the mention of the Canadian soldiers in the benelux!

Great scenario. I don't really see how Turkey, Romania, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria could hold off the Wehrmacht like that, or how would the Soviet Union be suddenly performing so well (with no lessons learned from the winter war and years of fighting germans) but I enjoyed the video nonetheless.

    • @bossy1496

yeah, the Balkan campaign would go much the same, probably seeing Bulgaria still joining the axis in promise for slightly more lands (probably gaining istanbul and thrace along with what they claimed irl) and causing the entire balkan pact front to collapse
along with this, once the wehrmacht push into Anatolia, there may even be islamist uprisings across the middle east since the nazis were quite fond of islam and had 0 claims to that land.
along with this, you'd probably have a fair few German troops push through the caucasus and middle east for the oil , possibly even seeing the wehrmacht never suffer oil shortages allowing them to push even further.
Now would this change the winning of the war? doubtful, considering that the American lend lease to the soviets is what saved them from just getting trampled even more than they did irl and was the only reason why the Russian army was able to mobilize and evacuate its industry, but Moscow, Stalingrad and Leningrad would most likely fall as well. Seeing the 3 cities wiped off the face of the earth after being looted.

      @board-qu9iu 11 месяцев назад +7

@@bossy1496 I think it's rather unlikley given that the German Army would be overstretched in the southern Caucusus, plus the were be general assistance from the British in the Middle East so it's likley to be one of the places to get quickly pushed out. Fun fact.
Hitler actually offered Hungary all of Slovakia when he invaded Czechoslovakia, but Horthy refused, as all land that housed a substantial amount of Hungarians was already in Hungary's hand after the First Vienna Awards, and Horthy didn't want to deal with revolting Slovaks in an already barely stable country. Transylvania on the other hand housed a substantial amount of Hungarians, which is why Horthy thrown his lot in with the Germans for it.
What I wanted to say with this, is that Horthy would never agree to an alliance with Germany for Slovakia.

He wouldn't take direct control, sure, but I think allowing Hungary to have Slovakia as their own puppet state instead of a German one would do it. An interesting fact that comes as a side effect of Finland not joining the Operation Barbarossa, is that it takes longer to fully industrialise.
In our timeline, the war reparations to the USSR forced Finland to induatrialise. But it was only the reparations from the Continuation War.
The USSR wanted products as reparations, which Finland lacked capacity to manufacture. Without this, I believe it would've taken a decade or two longer for Finland to become fully induatrial and developed, meaning that Finland might not be a Nordic Welfare state.
So I guess, thanks Hitler and Stalin.

    3 objections:
I don't see Greece straight up annexing Albania, they already had problems with Albanian minorities and annexing the whole of Albania would just be a disaster.
There is no way Churchill would let the Soviets take Denmark, that was a red line for him.
The Southern German Confederation was only a thing on paper meant to resemble Austria Hungary to maintain the balance of power. Even if it got formed it would quickly collapse. I find it more realistic that Hungary falls in the Soviet sphere.

15:20 Rewriting History you have a mistake - Czechoslovakia was restored after ww2 as Democratic nation. The reason they became communist is, that after ww2 there was strong communist influence, because soviets were seen as liberators and because in 1945 they signed a Treaty of friendship, mutual assistance and post-war cooperation between Czechoslovakia and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. In 1946, there was parlimentary election, where communist party gained majority of votes (also probably because their number in votes was 1 and it sounded like: You should vote for number 1 - communist party). In this timeline, communist influence could be much lower, because soviets wouldn't be the only liberators

Also with North Africa, if the Turks support the Greeks against the Italian, it means the British are able to capitalise on their gains in Operation Compass without having their best units transferred to Greece. This means, even with the arrival of the Afrika Korps, the British could the Italians out of Libya and the Italians and German would be fighting from Tunisia and Algeria with the Royal Navy using the Libyan ports to launch even more devastating attacks on the Italian Navy than they did in reality in 1941. No, the germans would had still steamrolled over turkey as they had ressources on the eastern part of the country, its not some mountains that would had prevented the werhmacht to invade and occupy turkey.
Plus Stalin was a fool, in our timeline even with russian and british advice he refused to join the allies, even at some minor borders there was russian casualties and still he refused, for 2 reasons. 1 Hes army was not ready yet since his purge, 2 he thought he could work with hitler, at least buy some times (years).
The only one who could make sense in your scenario for a feared offensive Soviet Russia would be a Russia leaded by Leon Trotsky. Who would have attack hitlers germany before 1940. With Leon Trostky there is a high chance of soviet expansion in all directions.

Right. Apologies. But surely, after the fall of France no other power would have sought a war with Germany.
And one thing that struck me as most unlikely was your alliance between Turkie and Greece. That's stretching it a bit!

Kurdish didn't demand independence in Turkish War Of Independence. Please check your sources. Kurds have rejected Allied proposal of independent Kurdish State. Telling that they will not turn against their religious brethern. Like if they have wanted that they would get it easily. Southern front of the war won by Turkish resistance of the occupied states. There was no Turkish army there. So stop projecting like all Kurds wanted independence. I am a Kurd who was born in southern eastern anatolia and I know my fucking history.
