I haven't caught a shiny yet in Scarlet or Violet (I have both games)! The last time I caught a shiny was in an AlphaSapphire run with green colored Pokémon, a random shiny Chinchou appeared while I was swimming around in one the underwater areas and that was a while ago. I find it funny that it took you 4 and a half hours to find a shiny Marill; when I first got OmegaRuby, I was just walking from one town to another, training, and a shiny Marill appeared in the grass when I went to grab an item.

Tip: instead of skipping one day forward for date skip, you can just set the clock one minute back and it still works

I think the rarest shiny is either a marked shiny family of three/three-segment maushold/dudunsparce or a female marked shiny eeveelution.
