I grew up literally on the fairways of golf courses in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and went to high school in Pebble Beach. I know golf courses. I know the most beautiful golf courses anywhere! However, when my wife and I attended the Masters about 8 years ago, after entering the grounds at Agusta National on a Practice Day at about 8:30am I almost dropped to my knees at my first sight of the course. It's majesty and magnificence is simply indescribable, for me at least. With every angle, view, fairway knoll, creek, green, incredible change in elevation......everything, it just exceeded all expectation and fantasy. It was almost a religious experience. Some might think this is hyperbole, but I'm dead serious. It's crazy beautiful.
@@salvatorem1959 - You won't be sorry. I collect Porsches, but would never consider a gifted Ferrari an insult for the nudge! My wife and I didn't miss one minute from Rancho Mirage, Ca this weekend as we prayed for a Phil win. Let me know what you think of Agusta Nat'l after your visit. My best.
What Bobby Jones did for American golf is immeasurable. His contributions stretch far beyond what he achieved on the golf course and extend into what has happened on AND off the golf course since he became "Bobby Jones." His mark on the game is unmatched in some ways and likely never to be duplicated. The closest I can come up with is Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer. Both fans of Bobby Jones, both course designers (Nicklaus with Memorial being an homage to Augusta National.), and both fiercely loyal to the game that gave them so both so much.

I totally agree with you as per my own experience as a first timer in 2004. Had a lump in my throat the whole day. And those egg salad sandwiches!
I want an hour long documentary about Augusta.
I'm really enjoying all the videos being released leading up to the 2018 Masters. Thank you!
