All roads in the Vancouver area should have been pre-salted before the rush hour in anticipation of the ridiculous gridlock that was going to result. Disgraceful lack of proactive action on the part of the local municipalities, yet again.
There is a nighttime low of -12° and tomorrow’s daytime high is -8°. It’s also windy too so with windchill it will feel like -20° tonight. I catch your point though, here in Metro Vancouver we’re not used to even these relatively mild temperatures compared to the rest of Canada.
extreme DANGER !!! do not move into the central interior OF BC😳. we have -- 30C and windchills of --- 40c this evening. but in 1986 winter in the area we had 5 ft. of snow on the ground and it went down to record breaking temps. on our thermometer in a remote area we saw -- 72 f 😵💫 and a bucket of creek water froze into a pile of ice instantly as you poured it slowly out onto the ground. firewood /fireplace heat works when everything else fails.
This is so messed up and a theme in few years a row, November and December with warm and well above 0 degree so no one bothers with winter tires anymore and sudden drop in temperature with a little bit of snow flakes everyone is caught off guard and the whole traffic and road system collapse …
Average Vancouver driver: Stops at bottom of steep hill because they think slower=safer, gets stuck on hill while traffic builds up, causes everyone else behind them to get stuck, abandons vehicle in the middle of the road....
That's only a small amount of snow isn't. Why are these media people exaggerating too much? Look at the guy on the bike, which easily climbed that road. She's reporting that very slippery...😂😂😂😂
