Job well done and certainly worth it, these bikes are little gems. I was lucky to buy one, 21 years old, out of a garage but very well looked after with only 4,500 miles on the clock. Was advertised for several weeks, but younger riders don't know this bike or how brilliant they are. So I decided to buy it 2 years ago. No regrets, enjoy every ride, it's a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Thanks for this video..l call mine (CB 500 1994) the beast..l constantly smile when she cruises along, l love short and long trips..can l ask..did you need to do any work on the inside of the engine..?
Great to hear, glad you are enjoying it, they are special bikes eh. I just gave the engine a good service and despite being stored for 22 years, it runs perfectly! A testament to how well engineered these are.
Hi there, I believe it is this model GIVI-A604 you should find it OK in a search. RUclips often take comments away that have links in them. I would say the screen does create a bit of wind noise, I intend to change mine for a smaller fly screen type. Best wishes
Hey John, could you please provide me with oil dipstick dimensions? I also have CB500, but I've lost my oil dipstick, so I need to find a replacement. Nice video btw, it's heartwarming to see this bike getting restored 💙
Yes, they sure are underrated! I ended up sending the forks away to be hard chromed as no new sets were available at the time. I used Hard Chrome UK and it took about four months for them to come back. I have used Phil Potts in the past and would go back to him as he was much quicker!
@johndocbikerestorations831 Oh I see, no worries, someone below asked about the screen, you mentioned the noise and said you were going to try a smaller on, what did you get? I'm thinking of getting one of the puig ones for mine

Thank you my friend. Yes, I must say I enjoy riding the CB500 very much. It will certainly be a classic. glad to hear you got a good one!
What a great restoration, John, keep up the good work.👍
Great video, John.
Beautiful restoration, bike looks great.👌
Thanks John
I think in the states this bike was called Honda hawk. I have a 2022 and I love it.
Interesting to hear that. I know the later models went to the States but I think the early ones only went to Europe

@@doconwheels-c5m I have the same problem with my RD350LC forks . Only worse , I'm in Ireland and can't find anywhere to rechrome them .
@@ballockybill69 you could try www.amphardchrome.co.uk/ it might cost you a bit more for post, but probably worth it!
Everyone should have a friend called Bob (Boab?)
And...bloody pot holes!!
Yip, it's Boab, short for Bob!😂😂
Could have done without the music on the ride, i would rather have heard the bike
Cheers Garfield, I did try but the wind noise was too loud!
