And if I told you the news i would tell you the parents were climbing school's walls to give their kids 🐐 Anyways in my home country I was friends with a girl that had I high score on everything but I knew she wasn't going to get a higher education because she was poor. There are some regions that no matter how smart you are, you might never reach your potential because of poverty. People say "We have a rich country full with poor people because politicians keep the money to themselves instead of giving back to the country." Politicians kids get to go to better school and even to Europe because money can buy their kids better education.

How do you teach words that aren't nouns, and reflect feelings, like "mad" and "want"? EDIT: I found the answer in the comments section of another video. When kitty was visibly annoyed or upset, mom pressed "mad" until she understood the association.
These buttons make me giggle. I always used non verbal ques with my pets to see what they wanted or mimicked locals strays to comunicate. Like mother calls etc. Then again they would learn their name and when i was calling them etc. So i guess I always met the communication half way with my cats. Like a simple "show me" and they go to what they want. Up up to have my cat climb up or go to a spot. My last cat would climb trees with me snuggle like a beast and play pranks on me and my family. She knew "stay", "come", and she would do her little trills if she wanted to snuggle and if she was sleepy she would bring her fishy. So she could chew on it and go to sleep. Wash my cats with a moist cloth so they were bathed. Cats are trainable if you watch natural behavoirs and adjust your teaching to the cats natural reforcing and discouraging things.
I have two very different cats and its really interesting to observe what each one picks up :) theyre definately trainable to understand words the same way dogs do, i still havent managed to teach them tricks tho xD ( like , just now, i asked my orange cat to come here and he didnt want pets so he didnt come, but as soon as i lifted my blanket he came over to be covered up x) while my gray tabby comes over immediately if i call her by name )
Amazing!!! And pretty similar than what kind of connection I have with my cat. He is trying to prank me every time when we go play to the attic. It is really awesome connection when you go the half way there!!!
Exactly :) This is just one way of plenty to learn (directly or indirectly) to communicate with your pet. Having them speak English words is just one of them (and arguably a bit more self centred lol) Edit: Yes I completely agree. Meeting them half way seems like the best way to me but that's subjective. I mean, when you teach it English words, and that's the focus, then suddenly that's how you communicate. I guess you still understand some cat language, but you'll get a stronger bond by learning some of ITS language, I think. Body language, meows, trills, all of that. Of course again, there's some things that are harder for the cat to express I guess, but then again again, it can easily show that by physical signs (walking towards door, meowing, then looking back at you - obviously it wants to go outside.)
Yeah my cat doesn't really seem to absorb words at all, but she picks up on gestures so quickly. She's very easy to communicate with, just have to learn how to do it.
It sends a shiver down my spine that a cat can understand a concept like "later." The old linguist in me is genuinely amazed. So many animals are more sapient than we think!
Animals are pretty smart. Humans tend to associate intelligence with the ability to talk (read verbally communicate) so naturally the inherent belief of most people is that animals are dumb. However, animals simply lack the ability to formulate sounds like humans, but are actually quite intelligent. Cats and dogs typically reside around the 2 to 4 year old human intelligence. If you've ever done time with a 2 to 4 year old person, you'll realize that's actually terrifyingly intelligent. Remember this when you discipline your animals! They should not be hit any more than a 2 year old should be hit!
Not all!! I almost watching a lot of stuff about cat in youtube and they show how to train them a proper way. cat are stubborn as fuck the reason why they're hard to train unlike dogs..
Yes! I saw a version of this posted on Imagr and I looked all over the internet trying to find the owner's channel... I found the lady who taught her dog the buttons but she never mentioned a cat, so I wasn't sure if it was the same person. I'm so glad I finally found you, definitely subscribing!
Oh my goodness...watching this over a year later. She has so many more than 8 buttons and while she still does very short phrases, she's gotten much more complex in her demands and questions.
i wonder if the animals actually understand what button theyre pressing and what that button does, or do they just know that if they press these weird things then they get something.
@@dragonvarine7553 Regardless. Learning is apparent. This can lead to some interesting developments as the more patient thinkers of the animal world are given these buttons to speak.
Dragonvarine that’s technically understanding. Associating correctly a word or phrase with an action or concrete object is sort of how language acquisition happens already. You can very easily teach a cat that the word “food” refers to what you put in their bowl. You can teach a cat that “water” is the liquid you put in their other bowl. You can teach them that “pets” is what happens when you’re touching them. You can do this over and over for all sorts of different things and eventually the animal may be able to press a button and tell you what they want. Other concepts like “later” are harder to teach, but still possible. Skinner did experiments with all kinds of animals about delayed gratification. The animals that waited received bigger rewards and eventually learned patience. I imagine you could teach the word “later” along with this concept by pairing delayed gratification with the stimulus of the sound “later”. Animals absolutely do learn and can understand, we just often have to train them to do specific tasks to show us that they do.
There's a few dogs like Bunny and cats like Billi that are using these buttons to communicate. Do they inherently understand the word? No. Babies don't understand words like exhausted or need or go, etc; but the language is taught. It's been told time and time again that some animals have intelligence equivocal to toddlers, and we teach them: "Eat" as we 'airplane' food into their mouth. or tell them to "Go run and play" as they zoom around the yard. It's clear to me that you can teach a dog to sit, and match the word to the action, and they associate what they do with the word. I can ask my dog to "Find rope" and "find ball" and because of my persistent training, he understands the difference between the two. He understands what "Find" means, and understands what each object is called. Now if we give him the option to ask back like "Where ball" (which sounds like toddler talk), then the connection can be: Where ball? Ball here. Have ball. As you show and give to him.
I was wondering this, too! I get how they would teach them things like "catnip," "food," and "pets." But the other things are concepts, like you said. How do you teach them a concept? Weird! Was also wondering about "I love you" and how that was differentiated from just "pets" or attention.
thats probably the fastest mood swing I have seen, "I want food Linda" "later" "Nah screw you mate, I'm mad now, pet me I am boiling! Just give me drugs"

My heart screamed when she pressed “food later” and the cat meowed immediately like its in protest
Edit: There’s a mad button and the cat pressed it, i love it
I read somewhere that cats' meows are the equivalent of human shouts, so it's almost like Billie got so angry that she swore, then remembered her manners and explained that she was mad 😂
He immediately meows when she says later 😂😂🤣
No, not later, Meow!

This could be a horror movie. Person taught the cat all kinds of words and now there's a killer in the house and the cat keeps warning or giving tips to the owner.

And then he gets the high hungries

She alternated with two paws to really get the effect, impressive! She is amazing.

Billi is Hindi word for cat. So, your cat is named cat.

Years ago I was listening to the news from Chile while doing dishes and in the international part of the news they were talking how parents were giving torpedoes to their kids in hopes that they pass the high school exam or whatever is call in India as there are not many spots for higher education so only the very best get to go.
I had to stop what I was doing and rewind that part to understand why torpedoes where used....
Then I understood they meant the parents where giving their kids a goat. (My home country way of saying a cheat sheet)

I just found that video to give you an idea of what I meant.
I watched the news in 2009 when I had international channels and I wanted to see programs from other countries just because I could 😅
As i said before, it was in the international section that overall last 5 mins so they only mentioned this for 30 seconds.
But it was the whole "climbing schools' walls to give their kids torpedoes" that perplexed me.
And if I told you the news i would tell you the parents were climbing school's walls to give their kids 🐐
Anyways in my home country I was friends with a girl that had I high score on everything but I knew she wasn't going to get a higher education because she was poor.
There are some regions that no matter how smart you are, you might never reach your potential because of poverty.

"We have a rich country full with poor people because politicians keep the money to themselves instead of giving back to the country."
Politicians kids get to go to better school and even to Europe because money can buy their kids better education.
Hahaha
That's why my cat is named Bili! 😻
"Food"
"Later"
"Mad"
Can relate
"catnip" and "want" are so conveniently next to each other. I'm impress how she learn how to use those buttons to talk. my dog, Tippy, bargains by exchanging his toys for whatever it is he wants. when Tippy was a puppy I had to sew up a few holes in Ducky (toy) he was so upset that he was willing to give me all of his toys, treats, and food to get Ducky back. it was heartbreaking that he didn't understand Ducky was under going surgery and will be return shortly.
How do you teach words that aren't nouns, and reflect feelings, like "mad" and "want"?
EDIT: I found the answer in the comments section of another video. When kitty was visibly annoyed or upset, mom pressed "mad" until she understood the association.
I'm guessing you observe when they might be experiencing it and then tell them what that is
I am also wondering how she does this for the word later
Plash har By delaying giving them something that that they want and pressing later

I have two very different cats and its really interesting to observe what each one picks up :) theyre definately trainable to understand words the same way dogs do, i still havent managed to teach them tricks tho xD ( like , just now, i asked my orange cat to come here and he didnt want pets so he didnt come, but as soon as i lifted my blanket he came over to be covered up x) while my gray tabby comes over immediately if i call her by name )
that's brilliant, I want to learn how to do that
Amazing!!! And pretty similar than what kind of connection I have with my cat. He is trying to prank me every time when we go play to the attic. It is really awesome connection when you go the half way there!!!
Exactly :) This is just one way of plenty to learn (directly or indirectly) to communicate with your pet.
Having them speak English words is just one of them (and arguably a bit more self centred lol)
Edit: Yes I completely agree.
She's come such a long way in 2 years!!
Can we just take a moment to recognize how amazing this is?? Wonderful job creating such an intelligent way to communicate with your pet!!!
Now if someone told me when i could and couldn’t eat I’d be pissed too.
It's 10:54pm Australian time, and you are, at this very second, now allowed to eat.
I love the fact that she even has a "mad" button. What a lovely kitty!

My cat would be like "Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Food. Mad."
Mine would use the catnip button in between every 2nd press of teh mad button I wager.
I love how her front paw follows your foot to the "food" button for a second like she's going "Yeah, that's right, that's what I wanted: food."
"You want catnip?"
Cat : *WANT , WANT*
Kitty Strange: "I've come to bargain"

“MAD”

I love how smart Billie is then i get upset knowing she is smarter then me such a precious little baby never change Billie
This is... fascinating. And has implications on how smart animals actually are.
@@joshuakuehn agreed. Never hit your furbaby, just learn how to discourage bad behaviour & reinforce good behaviour

It's my first time hearing her meow she's so cute
Oh my goodness...watching this over a year later. She has so many more than 8 buttons and while she still does very short phrases, she's gotten much more complex in her demands and questions.
i wonder if the animals actually understand what button theyre pressing and what that button does, or do they just know that if they press these weird things then they get something.
Yeah, its defo the latter. She just associates the noise with food or pets. And appears to press random sometimes out of frustration
@@dragonvarine7553 Just like how we learn other languages
How do you teach them the concept of "want", "mad", and "later"?
I was wondering this, too! I get how they would teach them things like "catnip," "food," and "pets." But the other things are concepts, like you said. How do you teach them a concept? Weird! Was also wondering about "I love you" and how that was differentiated from just "pets" or attention.
That's sooo smart 😂 I bet it feels so amazing to be able to communicate with your pet 💖
