Not just cats. All domesticated animals. I remember reading about a pet parrot who was going to have to stay at the vet overnight. As the owner was leaving, the bird cried out, “Take me with you! I’ll be good!” (He had heard the children say this to their parents repeatedly when they would leave the house.) The owner turned back around and took the parrot home with her. She said it broke her hear! It broke mine just reading about it! This is why I cannot foster. I did it once but how do you explain to the animal that it was always temporary and they didn’t do anything wrong? That you’re not rejecting them? Some would say they don’t have those kinds of feelings, but I’m sure they do.
@@ellengrace4609 awwww! 😥 that would break my heart too. Its hard enough leaving them somewhere like a vet or cattery etc as it is but hearing them verbalize it! Yea i'd worry about that with fostering as well but for many animals being fostered is still better than being in a shelter where the staff don't have enough time for everyone
@@maeuschen22 I absolutely agree, and I’m so grateful for those who foster. After that one experience, I learned it’s not for me so I do my best to support in other ways.
This one was really exceptional. The "what" went deep. Wondering if it was useful to have an "ok" Button. The thing I personally really found myself aching to communicate to pets on occasion was that their humans were okay and would definitely return later later.
This is why I always remind my bf that he has to tell his cat he’s “leaving for 3 moons” = leaving for 3 nights. Otherwise his cat cries and yowls at 6pm every night looking for him. And I swear to god when there is no moon his cat goes bat shit crazy when he’s gone.
Oh YES! Cats do miss their humans! Just last night my husband & adult son had to walk to convenience store, as it was getting dark outside Houdini kept going to the sliding glass door & looking for them. My dog Ben was "worried" too. When they got home Houdini then gave them a chewing out. 🤣
How Sweet❣️ Dad is going to be Billi’s captive for awhile. Billi missed her Dad. No Food…..just Pets. Billi is half joking and half telling the truth….about no food, just pets. Great to see Dad with Billi. She definitely adores him. 🐾💖

Thank you dad for Billi happy by spending time with her and giving her the love she needed from you.
My cats absolutely lose their marbles when their dad comes home. They get jealous if he doesn’t manage to pet them both at the same time, lol. If we could all teach our cats to use these buttons maybe we would have less incidents of plants knocked off the window sill in an act of frustration that we cannot meet the needs they are trying to convey to us. My cats really appreciate the time I take to try to understand what they want and need.
@@garbagelifeoftheboringwife My boy trained me well. I know what he wants, when he wants it and the consequences of me not hopping to it. He taps my leg 3 times and quietly meows when he wants pets, no buttons required. Which is a shame as I would love to have one that he understands as leave me alone, I'll get to it later! LOL
@@garbagelifeoftheboringwife I was wondering if I should try using buttons like this, but I don't have much space, and I'm pretty sure I already know what she's trying to tell me. I had to learn her language though, I didn't teach her mine. 😅

You can even see her glance at it and sidestep to hit it. So it's not like a funny accident but intent. She is usually so precise with her button presses but excitement seemed to make that not possible.
I know right?? There’s a level of casual and uncaring dismissiveness towards his desire for food that the rapid response using a hind foot conveys. Especially because she’s simultaneously actively and desperately trying to get him to give her more pets. Dad: I need foo- Billi: no. Anyway, as I was saying. Can I has Pets???!
My guess is Billi was worried he would be gone for a long time again. I can't imagine how weird it would be to think Dad playing oustide would take a week or something.
Dad: (slowly finds the right buttons) Dad. Food. Billi: (nonchalantly with back foot, and FAST!) No. Made me laugh out loud! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks so much for sharing your amazing journey with Billi! She is beautiful inside and out!
That last part shows just how spatially aware cats can be. He stomped “NO” with his back foot while passing over it without looking or hesitating to guess where it might be.
Sweet girl loves and misses Dad when he's away. She missed him so much, she didn't even want him to take time to eat. Cats miss you anytime you're gone. Maybe Billi could use a miss you button.
My dads cat still looks for him ,my daughter lives in his house now and the cat lives next door with my other daughter but he still comes round and trys to get in even their dog has put him off

I just can't right now! I love that you are breaking the stereo type that cats aren't bonded with us like dogs, or that they don't understand.
My mum just went to the hospital for the 2nd time in a month (first time was for 2 weeks - she got to be home over easter) and our cat was visibly upset in response to her absence, since he'd been sitting next to her all day while she was here, comforting her and taking comfort in her being here (she's definitely his mum).

This is why I felt so bad when my friend's boyfriend cheated and their cats had to go with my friend because his new gf didn't want them🙁 They lived in my friend's home, so when he left, my friend told me that they kept going to the door everytime it opened. They thought he was just gone for a while and will come back😓

You have shared so many sweet moments with Billie, Billie and Aunt, Billie and Grandma and Billie and Dad. This time the video of Billie missing Dad and Billie with Dad when he came home from Ghana made me cry. Billie makes me so much more aware of the inner world of cats and how my cats might be feeling.
the fact that cats can communicate on a basic level amazes me. they can't speak, however once provided a tool to speak for them, they can learn how to use it. absolutely insane. also this vid proves cats are social creatures, which so many people fail to understand for some reason D:
I dont want to disappoint you but i think that most of the cat's "words" were just not intentionnal and random unfortunately.. They definitely cant understand at this point our language and learn it to communicate with us, they cant imagine the meaning of the words that the people are saying. Sorry for this information
@@engkropix0558 Don't listen to them. Nobody really did such tests before and cat-human communication is just beginning and theres a lot of naysayers that never tested it but claim its fake. Watch some more recent videos and Billi gets even more insane.
I sent this to all my friends. Particularly those who don't know how wonderful cats are! I love them but Billi is teaching me I've got a long way to go yet to learn what they're capable of!
Lol, the way she went "no" at the end, so funny! That's adorable but it makes me so sad to think that that my cats miss me this much during the day when I'm at work 😭
It may not be this much. I’m sure they do miss you, but cats understand routines and will know that you’ll come home soon. I think the problem with Dad in Ghana was that he didn’t come home on schedule and Billi didn’t understand why. Thankfully Mom was around to reassure her. (…and this is where I went on a bit of a tangent. Adding this after the ramble below was done). Billi may not have understood the exact words or timeframe, but as with kids, a calm tone of voice will help. Like when little kids fall, and they look at their parents to see what their reaction was. If the parent rushes over, expressing worry and comfort before the child has shown distress can tell the child that the fall was upsetting and tears shortly follow. If the parent smiles and goes “oops!” or something of the sort, the kid may smile or laugh too. Frightened animals apparently react much the same way. It’s so hard not to smother them with sympathy and concern when they’re scared, for example during a thunderstorm or something, but if they see you worried it can reinforce their feeling that there’s something to be afraid of. A calm demeanor and gentle attention lets them know that you aren’t worried about the storm. They may still be scared, but not as much. Or so I was taught, anyway. A tip from one of my absolute favorite vets ever. But it was so hard to do! I had to retrain myself to be calmly reassuring, even when their fear made me want to go full protective mama mode.
This is so wonderful! I love that Billie asks and answers questions! This technology shows us so much and helps pets get through to us clueless humans! It's amazing to see how well they understand what's going on and we can better learn what they like, dislike, want and need.
The way Billi asked WHAT when you said a word she didn't know just blows my mind. 🤯

They tell us. If we listen.
@@maeuschen22 I absolutely agree, and I’m so grateful for those who foster. After that one experience, I learned it’s not for me so I do my best to support in other ways.
It's been remarkable, I have been looking at mine in a new way.
Oh my gosh, Billi and Dad are adorable together.
Right? 🥰🥰
We would talk about sunsets, how many sunsets before I return.
@@justwondrin hmmm I will try that next time.
Meows at the moon and becomes catwolf
Aww, that is a smart kitty
Hilarious!
Totally adorable. Dad is Billi’s captive for awhile now. No food, just pets.
Billi adores and loves her Dad. Great to see Dad and Billi together. 🐾💖
Oh YES! Cats do miss their humans! Just last night my husband & adult son had to walk to convenience store, as it was getting dark outside Houdini kept going to the sliding glass door & looking for them. My dog Ben was "worried" too. When they got home Houdini then gave them a chewing out. 🤣
How Sweet❣️
Dad is going to be Billi’s captive for awhile. Billi missed her Dad. No Food…..just Pets.
Billi is half joking and half telling the truth….about no food, just pets.
Great to see Dad with Billi. She definitely adores him. 🐾💖
Houdini! That is so cute, such a good cat name
If THIS video does not show people that YES cats miss their people when they have to go away, nothing will. She really loves her dad so much. I do hope you show him all his videos when he comes home?
The little bugger will spray right where he knows I can smell it or on clothes.
He howls after using his box as it must be cleaned immediately.
He follows me loudly meowing until he gets fed.
Oh man this makes me feel guilty for travelling. I know cats handle loneliness better than dogs but knowing they probably miss me as much as I miss them....
That back-leg ‘no’ was the cutest brattiest thing ever 🤣
Okay, that last 'no' with a hind foot even was great. I actually laughed out loud.
You can even see her glance at it and sidestep to hit it. So it's not like a funny accident but intent. She is usually so precise with her button presses but excitement seemed to make that not possible.
Such sass 🤣
“No. You gone for days. Pets now, not dad-food.”
i would've caved, and said "okay, food soon, billi now", and sat down again
Me too! So much sass :D
I know right?? There’s a level of casual and uncaring dismissiveness towards his desire for food that the rapid response using a hind foot conveys. Especially because she’s simultaneously actively and desperately trying to get him to give her more pets.
Dad: I need foo-
Billi: no. Anyway, as I was saying. Can I has Pets???!
The way she nonchalantly kicks the ‘no’ at the end 🤣
I loved how she IMMEDIATELY said "No" when dad said he wanted some food too 😂
My guess is Billi was worried he would be gone for a long time again. I can't imagine how weird it would be to think Dad playing oustide would take a week or something.
Dad: (slowly finds the right buttons) Dad. Food.
Billi: (nonchalantly with back foot, and FAST!) No.
Made me laugh out loud! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much for sharing your amazing journey with Billi! She is beautiful inside and out!
That last part shows just how spatially aware cats can be. He stomped “NO” with his back foot while passing over it without looking or hesitating to guess where it might be.
Yes! But I also only have to watch those graceful leaps or those twists in space to land upright, too! Amazing!
Just call this one “Love letters to Dad”😂
Awwwww the way she reached out to him when he moved his hands for just a second, then followed him when he walked away
Sweet girl loves and misses Dad when he's away. She missed him so much, she didn't even want him to take time to eat. Cats miss you anytime you're gone. Maybe Billi could use a miss you button.
I think she was like "wait no keep petting me who knows if you'll end up buying your food in Ghana!!"
Billi - Where?
Mom - ughh (great, now how do I explain geography to a cat??) 😂😂
That quick No at the end, priceless! :D
That's sweet. She really loves her dad.
„Dad in Ghana“
„What“
Omg I‘m sorry but that was hilarious 😂😭
Billi has proven SO MANY times that she's a total daddy's girl, LMAO!!!
My sister has been dead for three years, and her cat still looks for her while crying out. I know how you feel, Billi.
😢😢😢
My dads cat still looks for him ,my daughter lives in his house now and the cat lives next door with my other daughter but he still comes round and trys to get in even their dog has put him off
You mean, Coma?
Oh my frigging word. This is so precious. She's so cute! I love how she looks up at you and her little paw when she presses it on the button!!!!!! Aweeee! And when her dad comes home! I just can't right now! I love that you are breaking the stereo type that cats aren't bonded with us like dogs, or that they don't understand.
How happy she is when he's finally home, ahhh my heart!!
And this is why I love cats. This entire channel perfectly shows how smart they are, how they bond with people, and how emotional they are.

The "No" made me laugh, too. She was not done getting pets from Dad!
Awww so sweet! I bet that makes your mum feel good 🤗 swift healing to her!
@@BilliSpeaks Thank you! Yes she took a lot of solace in him, since she was bound to the bed while here. I hope she is well soon!
:( She is dying. Lung cancer that went into overdrive before treatment could start.
I spent and hour daily lying with our cat to give him all the love in addition to the normal interactions we have.

Your videos are incredible windows into the thought processes of cats. The clarity with which Billi 'speaks' and their ability to understand is incredible. I love seeing what concepts are important, simple, and utterly foreign to them. :)
Glad to see dad putting the work and love into billi. Wish all pet owners were like these 2 great people, nice structured happy environment for billi!

It was so quick too lmao
She really wanted to know and to understand why Dad was gone 😢 This really hits me right now because my neighbors moved Easter weekend and have left their 3 cats while they settle the new house. Breaks my heart I don’t know what my cat is thinking. She’s an old lady now. I wish I’d known about this amazing technology. Edit: I lost my beautiful old girl to kidney disease a few weeks ago sadly. When we’re ready to get another cat we’ll be getting these buttons.
You probably know more than you might think! The most important part is just making sure she knows you love her, and that's something I'm sure you're great at.
This cat is 12 years old when she started learning buttons, maybe it's not too late for your cat?
@@FirebladesSong thanks ☺️ I do try. She’s got early kidney failure so I keep a close eye on her and make sure she’s comfy.
I've seen 16 year old cats learn fetch. They can definitely learn new things even in old age
Billi is an old lady too! Its never too late!
Came in because of another video and happy to find there is a brand new video just uploaded 😆 the look Billi gave after hearing dad is outside is so adorable
You should consider adding the word “travel” since its something you guys do often enough! ☺️
Good idea, like driving around in the car with her for like an hour and each time call it 'travel' ...then you can tell her dad went 'travel travel travel' Lol
Dad - Far - Outside
Dad gives good pets, I can see why he misses him
The whole amount of sass that back foot harnessed when he said no
First, Billi asking for dad was the best part. Then, the pets when dad was home. And finally, Billi's answer to dad food 😂😂😂
30/10 video!
Aww Billie is such a daddy's girl. Their relationship is So sweet. I wonder if she's worried when he has to go for days at a time if he's coming back.
i can almost guaranteed she does worry at least a little bit. i worry too when someone i know goes away and i don't know where they went or when they'll be back.
Billi had serious Dad withdrawal symptoms.
This is why I felt so bad when my friend's boyfriend cheated and their cats had to go with my friend because his new gf didn't want them🙁 They lived in my friend's home, so when he left, my friend told me that they kept going to the door everytime it opened. They thought he was just gone for a while and will come back😓
When she just gently touched your knee, by her paw... That was so adorable and lovely! She's so cute, not just smartass. Unique, so presciouss
“No, dad, you may not have food. You MUST give me more pets!“
"You had plenty of food in Ghana! Wherever that is."
Awwww! The way she puts up her little paw when told Dad is playing outside is adorable. The way she lays down the "No food for Dad" rule is hilarious!
That back kick to say "no", such a sass.
Awww she loves him so much!!! He has a really nice voice btw
I love how Billi pressed “NO” button with her leg even without looking at it😂
"No, you should've eaten while you were gone, now is Billi petting time!"
NO! 😄 I laughed out loud at that last NO! I have to say, I think my favorite videos are of Billi asking for Dad and spending time with him. I think it is because it is endearing that she misses him and asks for him. Pulls the heart strings.
I love Billi’s response to Dad Food, “no” um no Dad Billi wants pets food later! So adorable! 😻
LOL I love how @2:08 the cat puts it's foot on her phone and looks at her like "Call him then, I need speak dad!" XD Adorable~!
Dad so gentle when he pets Billi. Dads so patience, as so is Mom.
Al is amazing.
Are you saying AI as in Artificial Intelligence or AL as in a name? I don't think this qualifies as AI its more like learning a very foreign language. I'm just asking cause I don't know what Dads name is. Just started watching this channel so just asking. 🙂
The three act structure, the anticipation, this is cinema
It is so sweet and wholesome to see an adult man enjoying spending time with his cat friend. Billi has such a good Dad 😀

Billi's love for her dad is so sweet and sincere. I literally LOL'd when he pressed buttons for Dad Food and she pressed No.
I love how you tried to figure out how to explain Dad’s absence.
@@zeussofficiel8189 hmm, that would also make sense. feels weird to think this way after watching a couple of her videos, tho. thanks for info c:
@@engkropix0558 No problem, and of course i think it doesnt change anything to the fact that the cats miss their humans and love cuddles ^^
@@engkropix0558 Don't listen to them. Nobody really did such tests before and cat-human communication is just beginning and theres a lot of naysayers that never tested it but claim its fake. Watch some more recent videos and Billi gets even more insane.
@@zeussofficiel8189 I mean I'm not sure if any scientists ever try training and testing cats like Billi.
Billi is SUCH a daddy's girl! Loved the "NO" at the end!
