    Can’t stress how great this video is. First started over a month ago and I try to keep up with my better friends who got me into it. Find myself ramping up to try and get max distance on the open holes but slowing down throughout my lead up and using the right discs have been key to distance and accuracy. Definitely will be using the angle tip the next time I play and prepare for my first tourney!

I dont have the best form on my backhand shot, which is probly why im not throwing it as far. My forehand is top tier, as ive got my form down very good. Im a 920 rated Am 2 player.

    I like the order of tips and how important timing is. I been feeling I needed more practice with some of these things already. It's good to hear it from a pro and clarify these thoughts. Im excited to go out and practice more now.
    ( I been playing 1 year now but almost everyday for atleast 2-3months. I can see so much improvement recently and now compete and beat my friends who got me into the game.)

    • @willvwill2919

      Just played a solo round and can attest to the importance of the timing tip. I’m pretty new so when everything is right on drives “it” feels correct, but def had a few practice drives where things were out of whack and could tell the difference immediately

  • @StephenWoods23

    Great tips! I've got a couple questions:
    1. Is the back leg actually PUSHING into the front leg? Is that an active motion or a passive motion?
    2. When you start rotating your hips, do you start moving your arm to center-chest at the same time or do you wait for the hips to move first? How much are you thinking about the timing of moving your hips and pulling through with your arm?

    • @DannyLindahl
      @DannyLindahl 3 года назад +3

      1. I think if your weight is over your toe your back leg will naturally push into the brace.
      2. Everything happens at the same time. Delaying the arm is a recipe for rounding.

    What's the most COMMON mistake?
    I see in ppl (including myself) struggling to get the nose down. I think that and timing become the biggest hurdle when trying to throw far.

    • @BahramKheradmand
      @BahramKheradmand 3 года назад

      for me, and many others, it comes down to grip.extend your arms and fingers horizontally, then put the disc in your hand horizontally, then grip around it without making it move nose-up or nose-down. firm grip but not overpowered. Then tilt your wrist slightly downwards and proceed to throw by moving your arm back and forth in a straight horizontal line and just let the disc rip out by the sheer force of your arm and wrist's acceleration.

    Eric why do you insist on saying you “push off your cross step” and “pull the disc” when the reality is you are carrying your forward momentum through the cross step and slamming it into your brace with a weight transfer that doesn’t involve any pushing at all, while simultaneously extending your throwing arm out sideways, making it more apparent than ever that you aren’t “pulling the disc front to back” but tucking and ejecting the disc out from your chest as you use your hips to whip your torso into rotation? Why do we have to use the words push and pull when they have absolutely NOTHING to do with the disc golf back hand.
