Wow, this is my big issue, landing with my front foot open and not engaging my hips. This just made tackling it SO much easier. Thank you, Danny and DD. This channel, DGAM included, is the reason I bag mostly DD. Danny, please continue to add as much detail as you can. You don't ramble, but rather approach a complicated, technical subject with noticeable effort to make it digestible while not neglecting details, drills, tips, etc. That really, really helps me understand the subject and makes me feel like I learned something about my own throw. Keep it up!
The idea of one hip pushing back and the other pushing forward really made sense compared to just trying to twist or spin my hips. Looking forward to field work tomorrow :)

this video has the most convincing 'consider subscribing' i've ever seen. great work as always! personally i like how you show exceptions to the form that you're describing, and explain how these exceptions accomplish the same fundamental thing. i guess it might be a bit rambly for some, but that's what the chapter feature is there for. also, including drills is super helpful.

oakley is that old school breed of disc golfer that learned before youtube or anything was around. i like watching people like him or matt orum because their styles were formed from the ground up. almost seems like they are at their skill in spite of their peculiarities rather than because of them. i like watching the young guys throw picture perfect, but it's also fun to see the old schoolers rip with "bad habits".
That "back heel up" tip is really really helpful for feeling the correct timing of the start of the pull. With the back heel up, as soon as your front foot touches the ground it just feels like "ok, now is the time to pull forward". It felt like it instantly fixed something I was really struggling to get a proper feel for.
Your so at ease explaining everything about discgolf you should be announcing on one of the discgolf networks...jomez..gatekeeper....etc. you would be so much better than some of them doing it now

Danny, this is exactly the piece of info I’ve been missing in my game. I hurt my back 3 years ago trying to get power into a disc I should not have been throwing. (Noob throwing a destroyer as hard as he could to 320 feet.) since then I have been throwing mostly with my arm and not my core. This plus slow is smooth/smooth is far immediately got me back up to 350 with a sapphire. Thank you so much!
For me the Hopping fixed my entire throw. Don't know if it's because of my basketball background or what but it fixed timing issues and reaching too far or behind my body. It literally helped me stay upright position although that's the most unlikely scenario.
So, I don't think your videos are perfect, but this was really good. I've watched the seabass videos several times, and they never made sense to me. Maybe I need to go back to them again now that I have like 18 months of practice, but I never understood how they helped. This made that drill so clear. I tried it once and IMMEDIATELY felt what you were trying to say. Thank you, I'll be in the field.

For Eric, one of the ways he is keeping his balance centered is where his head is looking. He's not looking back, he's looking basically straight down. Body follows head. If he were to do the hop and look back where his disc is the whole time i can pretty confidently say his weight would shift back too far to some extent. But because he is looking straight down it's keeping everything centered.

Maybe I missed the video but I've watched all your recent videos and couldn't figure out what it was I was doing wrong. I could throw my putter/midrange pretty well but my driver (prime escape) i couldn't get any distance on, after watching hours of your videos and not making progress all I ended up doing was changing the position of my grip on the disc in the power pocket (moved my palm from the 1-2 o'clock position on the disc to the 12 o'clock position) and the spin added probably 75-100ft plus i was more consistently releasing flat. Do a video on this!!
Nice video! You know I've always thought it would be awesome to have a pro throw on a matt that could show weight distribution so we could actually see the weight shift happening while watching the throw. Another really could idea would be to have two synchronized cameras above a thrower and to the side of them to see what's happening from every angle at thr same time. Maybe even a camera behind too. Also DD should get you your own stamped disc to sell. I don't throw DD but I think your content is awesome and it'd be a cool way to support it.
I needed this one, in particular the reasons the upper body ends up tilted back. Pretty sure my legs are leaving me behind. Damn legs, can't trust them. Not my fault.
I think you forget the most important reason why a Brinster hop can be very important. Try doing a Brinster hop with your left foot having the wrong angle. It most definitely feel like you're going to fall if you do a Brinster hop with bad angles on your feet. Another reason for doing a Brinster hop is to control your x-step. If you take too long of a x-step it will also feel like you're about to fall. I think doing a Brinster hop will correct many newbies on their game. I wish I did a Brinster hop earlier in my career. It would have saved me a lot of time. Eric Oakley is not doing a Brinster hop. Brinster rear foot still x-step even though he "jumps".
hey Danny i was wondering how much grip really affect? I'm a junior disc golfer and I'm trying to improve my game a bit, i was wondering how much better a power grip is against having my index finger on the rim. Thanks!
I've been ball golfing for 40 years ( 4 handicap) and disc golf for 2 weeks...And Just like ball golf, if I keep my head still and behind the release, I crush both ball and disc. The second I 'sway' away from my coil, I lose distance and accuracy in both sports.
Teaching and having time to practice and put everything into my form are different things. I try not to use myself for examples, I try to use our sponsored players for this reason. Excuses aside, like 430'.
My problem is I’ve been watching videos on this channel for 2 years and haven’t added more than about 20’ to my drives. My max is 280’ and I can’t get another inch of travel, no matter what. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong…
Maybe try sending a video of your form to a pro… or depending on where you live, there might be a local pro around there who would be happy to make a few bucks to do some in person
Keep rambling. There really isn't any "perfect" form video for everyone. People just need to take it what helps them. So the more ramble the more potential breakthroughs. People could just watch the Karate kid 2 drum technique and be good though.

Look up “driving instructions will schusterick” best stand still clinic on the tube. Danny has made at least one that I know of as well.
