I have a 2023 and I really like it. It's a great bike to learn on and get used to if your goal is a bigger GS. Even if it isn't your goal it's still a great bike. It's awesome for the city!
They do make a 750, 850 and a 1200 if you need more power. I personally like a lower powered lighter bike so I can justify going full throttle more often.
@@joekayed5954 well actually I bought myself a Himalayan after all😬 I did ride both of them before making my decision. While BMW sure looks like million bucks, but isn't really that great. There were just too many cons over pros in it and made be go for the Himalayan.
@Biker Meeth thanks for letting me know because the main attraction for me was the looks of the bmw but I won't compromise looks over ride quality it did feel light and good but now im definitely going to try them both out before I purchase thank you
The Himalayan´s engine produces more power in the lower rpms while the BMW ´s engine needs higher revs for the same torque. In my opinion the Himalayan is the smoother off road and more relaxed bike while the BMW needs more aggressive riding style.
I see so many of these types of videos and the tracks look great but my god where do you find them !!!! I'd absolutely love to do these types of gravel roads and can't find even one 😞 any advice?
The engine's torque output is all relative! I test rode one of these a few days ago.... I own a Versys X 300 and the torque of the BMW has got me thinking maybe I have the wrong bike! 🤔
@@stephencosta6814 Awesome! I hope you enjoy it very much. I think I'm gonna go with the BMW as well. Although I had to put it off til after Christmas. Can't wait though!
Show this comment to Bmw, make a bike 550 or 610 or 440 or 460 or 470 or 490 whatever, at a price of between 6000 to 7000 dollars. For adventure with good torque and power, comfort. That bike will be best in world for medium adventure bike.

I used to ride Duke 390 and realized that it’s smaller and just not quite capable of long distance (I know it’s Duke not Adventure model) But 373cc is too small, let alone 315cc G310
Too small for you doesn't necessarily mean too small for everyone. I love these things and have owned the big bikes. You have the stereotypical bike attitude.
@@tinymotogarage Because the expectation that there MIGHT be problems around those mileages is a damning commentary on the garbage we are expected to put up with when buying motorcycles nowadays. There is far too much acceptance of bad design/manufacture on motorcycles nowadays. Far too much 'throw money at it' to make a bland bike decent. It's a joke. In the rush to appear like a bargain, manufacturers are making bikes that are not really fit for purpose until the suspension is upgraded etc. I've been riding bikes for a long time now, and this is more and more common nowadays, and folk put up with it. But hey, you have your opinion on the commentary and I have mine.
I would probably not recommend it for you (unfortunately, because I find it great). I have one, it's my beginner bike and maybe a forever bike too. I'm 5'8" tall, 31" inside leg, 75kg. My 310GS has the lower (which is also narrower) than standard seat option from BMW, and also has the suspension lowered by about 20mm at each end. When stopped I'm on the balls of my feet, which I find OK with the bike being as lightweight as it is, but I would not want the seat to be any higher. I think you'll probably find the seat height too tall, even with all the same lowering that my bike has. You won't want to be struggling to get enough of your feet down to hold the bike upright every time you come to a stop. The best way to be sure for yourself is to go to a dealer, sit on one & discuss with them. I sat on & talked about tons of bikes in different manufacturers' showrooms before deciding what to buy - it was time very well spent.
The Himilayan should be okay. Ergo is very very important -Definately test drive one or atleast sit on one. The 310 is a wee bit tall. Im 5 ft 7 inches.
Its upto you & your budget. I already own a RE Classic 350 since 2016 & looking for buying a new bike. Considering the prices of Himalayan, if I spend 50K more, I would get this premium bike that gives me good road presence.

Great bike, I can’t praise mine enough. No problems in 14k miles. What more do you want for the price? It’s a 300 ffs. Unbeatable in its class.
Glad to see this comment eyeing this as the first bike 6k for the one of the year not a bad deal

Was surprised Kawasaki didn't upgrade their Versys-X 300 to the Ninja 400 engine and revised gearing.
20 years younger, or 30 years older. I'm in my mid sixties and love my little GS. So easy to ride on road and okay for a bit of dry dirt road stuff.
Good to have Neil in the mix. :)
Superb Build quality for the price..Made in India just like the KTM 390

Only thing would put me off is upkeep, you'd want to keep the service manual up to date and BMW aint cheap
How does the ABS work offroad? Thew new model doesn't have an off button anymore.

It is a bit complicated to change air filter on this bike, made for adventure. Because of all cosmetic plastics.
The Best video, thanks
You should do a vid of a big thumper enduro as a dualsport that is not from austria. (we know 500exc is just fine on the road).
I'm trying to decide between this and the Kawasaki Ninja 400 as a first bike.
