Enjoyed your review. I admit I have an SV650S. The only things Ive done with it is upgrade the exhaust, install a cruise control and put in handgrip warmers. I specifically bought it to ride the 110ks to and from work each day here in the country. As a Dyna owner and rider, can confirm. I absolutely love it but the Dyna community can be beyond obnoxious. I ride a wide glide and that bike gets sooo much hate even from other Dyna owners. Not everyone’s cup o tea but I love it and it works for me and my style of riding
I got a 82 magna 750 that's out of commission. Idk what's wrong with it. Got something else now. But now it's just sitting in a parking lot. Sad. Gonna sell it or part it out
@Bgoods8 tough call. Parting out is smart financially but it sucks so bad to know you signed a death sentence for a bike. It's like putting a dog down. Heartbreaking is what that is. But... you could always pick up a shop manual and bring it back. Spark. Fuel. Compression. Motor will run!
As a Harley Softail owner……the dyna bro segment had me dying you nailed it😂😂😂 $18,000 for something slower and worse technology than anything else out there. Love ya yammie🤘🏼
That is absolutely not true,up until fairly recently the dynas were selling very well and people like them. I’ve been riding for 50 years and I’ve never heard anyone bash another guys Dynaglide. That is like saying anyone that rides an Electraglide is a cripple up old geezer. It’s all in what you like.
As a Softail owner, I know exactly the kind of people you're referring to in your HD segment, and they are mostly why I do not mingle with harley people. My two cents: I rented a few bikes for track days and had lots of fun, but in the end my Softail, apart from being very dear to me because it was a last gift from a family friend before he passed away due to cancer, does what I need it to do, take me from A to B, and letting me enjoy the ride. I took her all around Europe on a motocamping trip, and loved every minute of it. Couldn't imagine doing it with a different bike.
Fortnine actually has a video on why people buy Harleys, and none of those reasons are because they are good at anything. Lol. I love my low rider s, but I will admit that it doesn't lean the best, it's not the fastest, it's too heavy, and it's not the sportiest. I love it because of the sound, feel, and style. And because it's my bike.
@@Redrickson1 that's exactly it. Our babies handle like a ton of bricks, have the acceleration of a tractor, and are just as noisy. But we love them anyway. Ahahah If you want to have fun at track days with a crotch rocket you can always rent one.
@@darktimbercustomknives6248 ok. I perfectly know this is bait, but I'll bite. Tell me why that is. At the end of the day a bike is a bike, I love mine, if someone else doesn't it's not like I'm holding my breath or something. You might have missed the whole point of this.
i picked up a zx10r this year for super cheap, great deal and it is SOOOO much more bike than anyone could ever need on the street. After my first ride I asked, "how is this thing legal" lol. I've only redlined it once and I was doubling the speed limit... in first gear...
I worked with a guy at Honda who daylied a zx-14, he was EXACTLY like the dude described. He ran from the cops everyday, unregistered bike, told everyone about his mean green machine and the shenanigans he got up to no matter the context of the conversation. Despite being a Honda Moto employee lmao
It took me a while to buy my GS 1200 R. I had to arrive at it because every middle aged guy in Rome has one. And of those, 99% will never go off road. So I didn’t want to be a poser, or in this case a “Try Hard”. But then I rented one, and it was a dream to ride, it was smooth on the rough roads and could handle gravel or collapsed asphalt in the country with ease. It was the perfect bike for me where I am at now. And that’s what matters.
I love every custom motorcycle because it's a representation of what the rider likes. Even if it's ugly to me I think it's cool. Variety is the spice of life my friend
I just bought a dyna and I'm still in the "I've never completed a lap around the block" phase of learning to ride. Simply found it at a good price and had the opportunity. The thing is totally stock even has the muffler still on it is the quietest harley I've ever witnessed. I'm sure there are better bikes out there but she's mine and I'm happy with the purchase despite the fact I'm totally inexperienced and learning on a 1450cc bike 😅
Good luck, but personally I would NEVER recommend ANY beginner ride something bigger than a 650. Start small to medium and if you don't like it its hasn't cost too much. Its like parents who tell me their kid wants to learn to play guitar what should they buy. Maybe a Fender? My answer is No way. Get a cheap guitar amp package and if they don't like it in 6 months then you haven't waste a couple of grand just on the guitar let alone an amp. So yeah, same with a bike.
Update, two months later and I love my dyna. Took it super easy starting out, and slowly got more and more comfortable with it. Really glad I started out with the dyna.
@@ricooreily1597 hi Rico, I was being sarcastic but I certainly couldn't take the curves as quickly as I'd been accustomed to. The forward controls were a nightmare for that aspect of riding and my local roads are all better suited to different bikes.
I'm the third owner of this 9.000 km 2015 GSA. They had no idea what they had. I changed the 21 inch front wheel for a stronger 19 inch by 2.5 inch EXCEL rim. Recluse clutch pack. Changing the gearing up to go to the 2 800 km Ride to the Western Australian / South Australian boarder and return...Hitting some dirt along the way.
Haha that commentary on the BMW adventure bikes is hilarious and so spot on. I really like my KTM 890 ADV R, but 95% of the miles are on pavement :(. ADV bikes can be capable off road, but nobody ever tells you how much physical work they are to ride on terrain that would be simple for a mountain bike
That's why I would rather have a Honda CRF 300L. That bike and its predecessors can do anything, anywhere around the world when it comes to adventure biking. So many videos out there to prove it.
I did a green lane day with the guys I work with last summer, I was on a wr400 on ktm Duke wheels using 50/50 tires, not ideal but I didn't have to many issues. Another guy was on a husky te449 (good overall but cut out randomly alot) and finally the other guy was on a tiger 800 xc. Two of us are instructors and the other was a motocross racer and won a few championships. So we can all ride pretty well. The tiger was a nightmare frankly way way too heavy and too tall geared, ended up cooking the clutch twice. If you want to do abit of off road get a duel sport and go for one under 150kg anything heavier then about 150kg is really hard work especially if it's rutty
@@ZildjianMan30 I took my 250L and did the alpine loop. It made it but it was not fun in certain parts. Feel bad for the average adventure guy that hits black bear/engineer.
only to add, SV is almost anywhere cheaper than Z650 or mt-07! Heck, its almost the same price as ninja400 where I live! And unlike anything above is dependable and reliable!
As the guy on the Blue Yamaha FZ6 with the broadsword, pictured near the beginning of this video (0.33), I appreciate that the photo is still traveling and still of use. Took that photo when I bought my first bike in early 2006 and put it up on the sport bike forum I happened to be on back then as a joke, and it has traveled far more then I ever have. Video was a fun watch, and keep being unapologetic. 👍
I work at a dealership and every time someone rolls up in a harley, they bought 6 months ago and only rode 3 times with only 500 miles on it, I know they are bare minimum 10k buried in that thing. The shock on their face is crazy. They start throwing out how they have a stage 3 kit and the harley salesmen said that harleys are great in holding their value, and they will go to the harley dealership and sell it. Then the shock gets even worse when they realize we called the harley dealership to get that number on their bike.
That Sigh of relief when you realize your bike is not on the list shortly followed by the crippling sadness when you remembered it’s because you don’t have a bike because yours was stolen 😫😩😤🤬
My previous ride was a Yamaha Road Star. People would often ask "Is that a Harley?" Then I found a babied one owner Dyna which I like very much. But I've never been asked "Is that a Yamamha?"
Yam rolled out of bed this morning and chose VIOLENCE. Was presently surprised when I found that zero track day 600's (such as myself) weren't on the list! Although I'm aware that the resentment is there lol
This whole video made me laugh, we all know “that guy” , I wore down in age, sold my cbr9rr, had kids...bought a HD, slugged along, loved the noise. Just traded in on a Aprilia tuono (non factory I’m old), and instantly loved riding again.
I love my SV. It's 100% stock, fun in the Twisties and a comfy commute. I didn't know I was supposed to be trying! I thought I was just supposed to have fun! 😂 But yeah... I definitely want another bike. No matter how many we have we're always going to want another one!
My first bike was a CBR500R and that inner monologue you described was legit exactly what led me to getting one haha yeah its vanilla but I wanted that at the time because they hold their value well over here in Australia and I knew I was gonna sell it after a year once I'd learnt how to ride well enough to step up....to...a litre bike... sh!t.... hahaha
Same, i was kinda expecting this, i am just disappointed that yammie said zzr has a 1441cc engine while the truth is that the engine used to be 1352 until 2012... I think i am proving a point...
I am always in the "target" group 😂 but i admit, i bought the GSA to get to work all year round...no hardcore trial stuff... And I live in Switzerland hence heated grips rule.
Love my dyna, but I agree for the most part lol. I get tired of seeing them all built the same way. Hell I even make fun of them every time I see them. To me the best way to build a dyna is to make it into a modern day bobber/chopper style. Too many sons of anarchy try hards 😆
Hey yam daddy I just went for my first ride. I stalled a lot it was amazing and terrifying. It was raining lightly as well. Looks like I need to work on clutch control. Also ran into the I shifted all the way down to first but the bike didn’t. Did the rock back and forth thing you taught me and it worked. If only I would have tried that the first or second time I stalled but it took me like 5 lol. Starting with a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. Pulls me around just fine. I know it’s carbureted but I got it for $500
Nothing wrong with carbies (aside from having to wait for them to warm up on choke). Only thing you'd get flak for is that everyone should start on sports bike, then move to their preferred style, but even on that you get a pass because the smaller vulcans are fairly sporty cruisers, so it should teach you fairly well.
SV1000, whew. Just glad I don't need to do anything to it. It was $2400 with less than 10k and I've just had basic maintenance and love it to bits. Yeah it's kinda Suzuki crap, and it's barely faster than a 600, but for that price tag I don't see how it could be beat.
@@rileygates6502 it is pretty fun to just be cruising at 60 and be able to blip the throttle a few times in a row and have the bike buck you around angrily lol.
In all seriousness having a Harley is more of a lifestyle, a different lifestyle from just a normal motorcycle lifestyle. That being said I love my HARLEYS.
As an SV650 owner HOW DARE YOU, SIR! I can't believe you... Accurately... Described... God damn it. I mean, I love my SV but the tech package for the price is lacking and while it's a really solid all-rounder it also means it's not the best for any one thing. I'd argue that makes it a great first bike, though. It can be anything but not as well as something purpose-built. That makes it great for showing you the kind of bike you really want for your next bike, maybe your forever bike? Who knows. But until that day comes when my SV gets traded in for a brand new , I'll still have a lot of fun because, turns out, motorcycles are fun and the SV650 is still a really fun one. Though these days I feel like I should have gotten a cheap 400cc and expected to replace it 1 year in. Had I done that I think I would have ended on an RS 660.
I rarely comment on youtube videos in general, but I have to agree with you. I have an older SV, and honestly, having rode a few bikes now, the SV has made me learn that I want a faster naked bike and not the r6 that I wanted originally or the 4 cylinder naked that I was thinking about settling for. This may make you roll your eyes, but I've decided that unless I ride something that happens to change my life along the way, I'm probably going to get a ducati monster as my next bike.
@@notaskinwalker3566 Have you ridden a Street Triple? They are quite nice. I want something a little faster but with some more wind protection, personally. But maybe not full sport touring. So RS 660 and Tuono 660 are currently higher on my list.
I have a gen 1 SV650 N and Papa Yams broke my heart with this one (jokes ofc) because when I was doing research on what first bike to get, his video about the SV650 was what finally swayed me. Jokes aside tho, he is right. The SV650 (Gen 1) suspension package is lacking, some of the materials used are cheap, you cant do dank nooners or it turns into an SV325 but damn. Got damn is it a fun bike to ride solo or with the bros. I will always keep this SV650 but eventually I will get a dedicated ADV, 600cc street bike, and maybe even a liter bike for the memes. In summary, the SV650 is an AMAZING machine to start with and even for experienced riders, just don't ask it to be top in class in any particular category. It's like a BMW E36, pretty good in most categories and can be modded to do most anything, buuuut nothing that will blow your socks off.
My Dad rides a 1250 gs and I just bought a Tenere 700 two month ago, when the Part about the GS came up I just grinned smugly over to him and he left the room
Cheer up - HD killed the Dyna, as well as the Vrod, the Evo Sportsters, 750s Streets .... and of course Buells - there is really no reason to visit HD anymore. It's like Ford only making mommy utes and princess trucks while abandoning any sedan or car models *mustang - not counting - though they f'd that up too
Whoa there yammy. When it comes to the cbr 500r, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that little extra weight. I mean, sure that might slow down that acceleration speed a tad bit compared to an r3 or ninja 400. But it WILL make the freeway at 70mph a bit more comfortable. Extra weight makes for those road grooves to not feel so strong. And can you really put a price in comfort like that? No you can't. That's not try hard at all. That just big brain energy my dude. 🤌
The hard part is overcoming that desperate state. I first heard this advice two years ago, and I'm still trying. I have learned a lot through doing so, so it was certainly worthwhile. But, I still have yet to find the joy in being alone. It's hard, but nothing worthwhile isn't
I was confident my bike wouldn't make this list, I was wrong! Ducati Hypermotard is what it is but I can't disagree with the Noob. Makes fun wheelies though! 🤪
The secret to legit Supermotos ownership is running a legit race bike set-up and owning a pickup truck, a small generator and tire warmers. Truck it to the canyon, pre-run the canyon in the truck with your trusty big ass push broom and some absorbent in the bed, then unload and suit up while the tires are getting toasty 🤙🏻
These are good yams. Hilarious outbursts, list sure to troll all of the try-hards (ironic?), and it felt like the listicle videos of old. Thanks for doing this..thought we lost the classic list format for a while there.
Haha me as well. But I'm sorry, it's a fun bike! But it is a bit try hard. Same with the street fighter. At least the hyper makes a good shenanigan bike, touring bike and commuter!
I 100% agree about the litre bike segment. I picked one up, a 2014 CBR1000RR SP, because all my friends have R1Ms, S1000RRs, Panigales, and I wanted to be a fast boi too. It’s completely unnecessary- it overheats in traffic, it goes through fuel faster than my K1300S, and I can’t use more than 20% of its capabilities on the streets. But that hard park flex tho…
EXACTLY the reason i bought my faithful CBR600F4 back in '00. Sick of defending my decision to the masses about why I didn't get the 1000. Well, in Australia, the speed limit is 100km/h, which the 600 is quite capable of hitting in 1st gear. Plus it was a few thousand cheaper too.
@@KegRaider my first bike was an 03 cbr600rr, rode that from 14 years old until I was about 20, then sold it to buy a shadow to trade my dad for is cbr1000rr. Rode that bike for only a couple years, yes it was insanely fun on curvy roads and long open road with no cops. But that thing destroyed my back and neck, now I'm going down to a new cb500f that I'm picking up tomorrow. Just need a nice light bike to commute to work while the gas prices are insane where I live. I don't really think I need a 600 for the price I'm getting and the gas mileage is great
@@TheBomberman122 Oh that price right!! If you had said to me 20 years ago that it would cost me $30 (Australia) to fuel up my motorbike, I would have laughed at you...... the 600 still gets great economy though, providing you don't wring it's neck every gear and ride sedately. I bought it when I was 25, so now being an old fart on a sports bike, i'm a lot more sedate than i used to be anyway :)
08 gsxr 1000 here. I ride it almost everyday and love it started out on cruisers and couldn't stand them. I didn't get into motorcycles to be comfortable though.

Bought my 2002 SV650 for $3k with just over 12k miles on it. Sure it's definitely used but it was on the low end of my budget for a motorcycle. And yes it has turned me into a SV650 simp 🤣
SVs sure cost a pretty penny in the ol' US of A. Last month I bought nice 2005 with 30k miles on the clock for 2,5k here in Europe. And even in a tiny country like Czechia I could choose between like fifteen others going from 2 to about 3,5k. I got my STriple out for engine rebuild so I just bought nice donkey bike to fill in for it. Nothing bad about an SV.
Bought a 2008 model with 40k kilometers (so a bit under 25k miles) for 2.5k€ and I even found some with reasonable millage for under 1.5k here in France. It’s super easy and fun to drive, and a reasonable option as a starter bike. Plus it gets my pp hard so yep definitely nothing wrong with it for me
It’s not just a meme, from 00-10 only 3 kinds of bikes sold in America. Cruisers, dirt bikes, and fully fledged sport bikes. Even today many people who “ride” have the hell confused out of them by the concept of a sport naked
haha same. I'm trying to convert it to a quasi tourer/adv bike now because as a pure street bike, it's kinda boring. Raised handlebars, windscreen, panniers, knobbies. Handles some off-roading reasonably well and it's still pretty comfortable at highway speeds. Definitely just wishing I had crf300l rally at this point but the CB has grown on me. My girlfriend has a BMW 310 r and while it's basically just as fast, it feels like it is going to fall apart at highway speeds so that made me feel a bit better about the purchase.
I do not have a motorcycle license. The impulse to hop on a turbo-busa with no prior riding knowledge and turning into a puddle on the ground is very tempting.
Per Yammie video logic, my first bike was a Vulcan S and my current bike is a GS, I went from dork to potential “try hard”. I think certain GS riders give the bike a bad rep which is sad to me. I like the fact that it is a big behemoth that I can tour with and taken on a fire road if traffic is bad. I think between the seat position, ergos and luggage space it makes a great commuter.
Yammie being hypocritical about people accepting busted GS as "Character and experience" and yet shit on big 4 sports bikes as "Boring" especially on Honda for being hyper reliable.
You can pick it up easily in a flat surface, but you usually don't fall in flat surfaces, you fall in the weirdes, most fucked up places and in those places sometimes it's impossible to pick up a 550 lbs (650 with luggage) bike
My dad gave me his old bmw 1200GS. It is a touring bike with some off road capabilities. It’s nice and comfy, it has a big powerful (enough) engine, and a massive gas tank that makes it perfect for longer road trips. It is the SUV of motorcycles.
It's a roast. You make fun of certain things in a setting but it's really just a big joke. If you can't take the joke then you are insecure. If that is the case then....sorry?
The Dyna guys claiming that anyone dissing the Dyna just hasn't tried the right Dyna remind me of socialist simps arguing that even though every time socialism was tried throughout history resulted in starvation (and sometimes mass murder) was only because all of those times it wasn't real socialism but we're going to do it right this time and we'll all live in a socialist Utopia where other people work because they want to and everyone is wealthy.
I work with track day and race groups and can tell you 100% the 12 year on a 300/400 or 2smoke is a reality. Also, depending on the track....600's are just as fast as liter bikes, they just make the speed different
I have a little Honda CB500X. It's a good bike that's a jack of all trades. Sadly, it's a master at none of them. It allowed me to find the types of riding I really want to do. I'm trading it for a cruiser because that's mostly what I like to do. Of course, I have a list of different bikes that I want to go along with it. Because n+1.
Same! Mine helped me figure out what kind of riding I want to do yet, for what I use it for, (commuting) it kind of does it better than alot of other bikes, so here I am at square one 😆
whew I thought for sure that Yammie was going to put the Kawasaki Vulcan 650s on the list. Granted I know Yammie called it a boring bike and I can understand that. I got it as my starter bike and have had a lot of fun with it. I bought it back in 2020. It is a 2015 and I got it for 4500 bucks with a band new set of tires as well. It was practically brand new also (no scratches, garage kept, etc)! Just a great deal that I could not refuse and so here I am. P.S. I am 6'4'' so I could not get a sick sport bike because they just don't fit me well.
I also have a '15 Vulcan S that I bought used in '17 as my first bike, and I too was fully convinced I was about to get roasted 😅 I've been very happy with the bike, but I don't have any experience riding anything else.
The ZX14 just happened to dethrone the Busa. It was really simply stepping up their own in-house game. As a Gpz-900 (Ninja 900), ZX11, ZX14, and Concours 14 owner at one time or another, there’s really only team green, my friend. Kawasaki let’s the good times roll. :-)

The shock on their face is crazy. They start throwing out how they have a stage 3 kit and the harley salesmen said that harleys are great in holding their value, and they will go to the harley dealership and sell it. Then the shock gets even worse when they realize we called the harley dealership to get that number on their bike.

As someone who loves Harley, I also love your digs on Harley. Your roasts are golden.
SV1000, whew. Just glad I don't need to do anything to it. It was $2400 with less than 10k and I've just had basic maintenance and love it to bits. Yeah it's kinda Suzuki crap, and it's barely faster than a 600, but for that price tag I don't see how it could be beat.

Thats what the market is missing these days. Just good street sports bikes. Not a track bike with blinkers (faired or naked).

You can pick it up easily in a flat surface, but you usually don't fall in flat surfaces, you fall in the weirdes, most fucked up places and in those places sometimes it's impossible to pick up a 550 lbs (650 with luggage) bike
@@aao331 where you land is irrelevant, as long as the two wheel touch the ground the lever effect is still the same.
My dad gave me his old bmw 1200GS. It is a touring bike with some off road capabilities. It’s nice and comfy, it has a big powerful (enough) engine, and a massive gas tank that makes it perfect for longer road trips. It is the SUV of motorcycles.
judging someone on the bike they ride, is literally the most noob thing I've ever heard.
Did you watch the video?
It's a roast. You make fun of certain things in a setting but it's really just a big joke. If you can't take the joke then you are insecure. If that is the case then....sorry?

What!!!! No Yamaha's on the list???? Gasp Yammie Noob.
This is not a political video. Why did you feel the need to express your political views here?.
I work with track day and race groups and can tell you 100% the 12 year on a 300/400 or 2smoke is a reality. Also, depending on the track....600's are just as fast as liter bikes, they just make the speed different
and those 12 year olds on a liter would be even faster.
Yeah i have that bike too here in the UK, rode it all winter and now into spring trying to figure out what my next ride will be.
Probably a tracer 700
Sounds like Keith gets smoked by 500 riders on the regular.
Saw the thumbnail and said damn that’s a sweet looking bike! Then I read the title……now I have some self reflection and contemplation to do.
whew I thought for sure that Yammie was going to put the Kawasaki Vulcan 650s on the list.
Long story short, enjoy what you got have fun.
