    I've missed you, Tanya. I've worried about you and prayed for you. So happy to see you are here once again. Yes, let's continue praying for the all the people of Ukraine and Russia, that they may be at peace, and hopefully soon. I dropped A Tree Grows in Brooklyn in my Amazon cart. Thank you for the recommendation. I think I will enjoy it very much. Blessings to you and your family, and I hope to see you again very soon. ❤

    It is so wonderful to see you back again and to hear what you have been up to. I’ve missed your enthusiastic reviews of books so much. I thought I had read “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” as a teenager decades ago, but now I don’t think so. So I will read it now, as an old lady, and will probably get even more out of it at this age. I will read “Everyday Saints” as well; I am always reading a religious book or two, but have never found one written from the perspective you described. I have been reading books written by Ukrainians and will continue to keep a lookout for more of those.

    It is so nice to see you again! I have really missed your videos! I am glad you were able to go visit your family in Russian. It breaks my heart that it was soured because of the war with Ukraine. Stay safe and be well! I hope you make it home to your husband soon, too! Prayers for everyone! I need to order Everyday Saints. I have The Way of the Pilgrim, a spiritual book on prayer, written by an anonymous Russian author around early 1900's. Are you familiar with this? Everyday Saints would go well with it in my spirituality section of my library! I want to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I read it as a young teen, but I agree...I think only adults appreciate what this story is about! There is also a very famous movie based on it. Hope to see you again soon. Did you father ever agree to show his books? I think we all would love to see them!!

    • @bookishtopics
      @bookishtopics  2 года назад +1

      @@daminisingh3823 to be honest I don't really know. I haven't read Anna Karenina and I only read War and Peace in Russian so I never really had the chance to compare the original to its English translation. But I think that a lot if not most of the beauty of novels is in the story itself rather than the language (though language also plays its part). To me personally, it seems that language is a bigger part of poetry and has a bigger role to play in poetry. And I'm sure that the translator has done a great job, these days translations are great :) So I'm pretty sure that the level of beauty should be close enough :) though again, I'm saying it not from experience. I'm glad you enjoyed Anna Karenina! I need to read it myself one day :)

    Jesus Christ is the ONLY way, if you love someone you will tell them the truth about the savior and not be worried about social acceptance.

    • @bookishtopics
      @bookishtopics  2 года назад

      It's not about social acceptance at all. I just don't believe in forcing and imposing your faith onto other people. In my experience, it only turns people away from it. People have to be willing to listen and it's their choice, not mine.
      Besides, a good life is not about converting people into your religion. It's about loving, accepting, and respecting each other.
      I really don't think that God is going to care what religion we belong to. We all are His children. He loved everybody.

    • @JayReacio
      @JayReacio 2 года назад

      @@bookishtopics The truth is that it is about social acceptance for you. You love the applause and praise of men rather than the praise of God (John 12:43). If you really did believe that Christ was the way, and the truth, and the life then you would tell others the truth about heaven, hell, and Jesus. Don’t conflate telling people the truth with “imposing your faith” on anyone, people have a choice but what choice do they have when even “Christians” are too ashamed of God to tell them the truth of what their options are. What choice if they are never warned that apart from Christ they are going to hell? If you love someone you will tell them the truth. All of the Disciples and Jesus Christ himself did what you call “imposing your faith”, they told the people to repent from their sins, they told them the truth, and if you honestly believed it, if Christ was an all consuming fire to you and not just an accoutrement to your perfect life then you would tell others too.
      Luke 9:26
      For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

    • @bookishtopics
      @bookishtopics  2 года назад +1

      @@JayReacio Oh, you know me so well. The depth of that understanding in you is just so profound. Really?
      The thing is. I don't believe that God is going to send a good person to hell only because the person was a "wrong religion".
      And if you're a true Christian, then why are you so fond of judging? And not just judging, judging someone you don't even know. Doesn't Christianity teach not to judge? I don't know what confession you're, Orthodox do teach that. So mind yourself and not others.

    • @JayReacio
      @JayReacio 2 года назад

      @@bookishtopics It doesn’t sound like you believe in the God of the Bible, or in the Jesus of the Bible, the one who said- Unless you repent you will perish.
      It sounds like you’ve made up a god of your own imagination, one who likes what you like and holds to a standard that you find acceptable. That may be well and good for you, but that isn’t a Jesus who is going to save you.
      I’m not claiming to know you profoundly by any means, I am judging you by your fruit, which Jesus told us to do, who also told us not to judge hypocritically but to judge righteously. You may think I’m trying to be mean, I’m not, I’m trying to tell you the truth so that you might have eternal life.
      Oh and btw Christianity doesn’t teach that God sends good people to hell for believing in a false religion. Christianity teaches that there is no such thing as a good person (Mark 10:17-18), that the wages of each of our sins is death (Romans 6:23), and only the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross is enough to make a person righteous in the sight of God. Of all the books you read, you should spend more time reading the holy word of God. I’ll be praying for you, I mean it, The time is coming where lukewarm Christianity isn’t going to cut it, I hope you encounter Jesus and I hope one day to see you as my sister in Christ in heaven

    • @bookishtopics
      @bookishtopics  2 года назад

      @@JayReacio I do think that some aspects of religions are man-made and med-imposed.
      You're saying that God tells us to judge others, I was taught that we have no business judging others because we don't know their hearts. God will be the judge. And I feel it in my heart that it's true.
      You're telling that there isn't a single good person in the world. I was taught that we're all children of God. We're made imperfect, but still children of God. And everything that comes from God needs to be respected and appreciated.
      You believe in a vengeful God. Who's sitting in heaven waiting eagerly to just send everyone to hell. I believe in a loving Father. Who knows our hearts inside out and sees the good in every single one of us. And loves every one of us equally and profoundly.
      I think it's safe to say that we believe different things. You're happy with yours. I'm very happy with mine. You don't strike me as a source of truthful knowledge or truthful interpretations of holy texts, so don't expect me to attach any significance to whatever it is you're trying to make me believe. Arguing over religion is fighting a losing battle. So I won't. You keep your own opinion I'll keep mine.
      I don't really care to argue about religion with anybody. Believe in what you like and what you want. Stop telling me what I need to do. Just mind your own business.
      As for praying for me, do whatever you want, but I really don't care since it's coming from you. I prefer people who know and love me to pray for me, rather than judgemental people like yourself.

    Phew. I have to say, I was afraid of this Vlog. When russia started the war against Ukraine. About what I would see from your surroundings, and what I might hear from you. And how I would need to react to such things. I'm glad that all of this was not needed 😅 But I was a little perplexed about this religion thing. I kow, religion was nearly banned in communist countrys (like our former GDR), their situation was very bad. You said now, religion is still not very common. And then I see those guys support the war very firmly and aggressive, with big media coverage, this Kyryll (?) patriarch seems to be very famous and Putin lonely and abandoned in church. So, uhm, are you sure orthodox christianity is still not a big thing there? Or did this change within last year?
    I feel you very much about constantly watching (well, mostly reading in my case) the news (diffrent news agencys, journalists from all over, military specialists, ukrainan people) and not been able to find the time, headspace and nerve to read (for the rest of the year 😑).
    Good night, may all your reads be good ones ☺
    Slava Ukraini ❤
