I was too young to catch them alive, and they never played in my wrong country (Yugoslavia), but from the 80s on,we were lucky to see top bands in their prime, GANG OF FOUR,TALKING HEADS,SWANS,SONIC YOUTH and a ton of punk bands, i am from Croatia,Zagreb had great gigs, GRANT HART, VICTIMS FAMILY,RAMONES,IGGY POP, BOWIE, i saw them all in a socialist state. Ljubljana in Slovenia was even better, festivals, NICK CAVE, AMEBIX,DINOSAUR JR,RAPEMAN, i can go on and on,the train ride dured 6 (sometimes more) hours,it was always overcrowded, smelly, even violent. Young punx don'tt care too much,we were the target of the rednex (our version)
Give 'em enough rope is my favorite Clash album, but for some time... I've been trying to figure out why in the world does he say "Gumbo" ? Most of my life I assumed he was saying 'Come on' but all the lyric sites say Gumbo. Significance ?
It's really hard to even fathom how freaking great these guys were.

Thanks for this. I always love a good, organized crime story. And I always thought Julie was just some cheap hooker, turned snitch.
Who is playing keyboards on this version?
Mickey Gallagher (Blockhead) ?

Could have been a physicist sewing labels on the mail bag list

Put him in cell and said you ain't here
I think it’s said you wait here
fo UPC
His voice seems hoarse, most likely from endless touring.

I always just screamed "Drumroll!"
