Had my DK2 years, was a pretty early adopter but fell away from it after moving somewhere with limited space. I just got a CV1, $180 CDN, everything's in pretty good shape so that's a win. Buying everything on Steam. Never getting an oculus product, especially new after this. Man getting out in the DK days and seeing the state of things after the FB acquisition... Very sad; there was so much towards in "Lets build the future, together." back in the DK2 days. Fuck you Oculus, I wouldn't be surprised if most everyone who got the product here would leave the company in an instant if given the chance.
I got pissed about my RIFT S. I chose it over the Quest because I have a gaming PC...came out at the same time as the Quest....Only the Quest got all of the new features and updates...Dont get me wrong, I still have fun with my Rift S but it really feels like I was lied to and robbed due to false advertising. You can say I’m wrong but they basically used the Rift S as a cash grab because they added the link cable for the Quest...so why even release the Rift S? It can play maybe a few more games? I’m going to save for a high end headset. I wouldn’t be so salty if they did more for the Rift. I see nothing wrong with the Quest getting new and unique updates for that platform, but what about the rest of us who payed the same price for what was supposed to be for more of the hobbyists and the Quest was advertised as something to dip your toe into the water. Their practices show the complete opposite. Really, I just want to feel like the hard earned money I spent as a customer is appreciated and worth it. I feel like they said “hey, got a gaming pc? Then choose the Rift S! It’s more powerful and is for hardcore gamers! Oh, we have your money and you have the S now? Btw we’re actually only focusing on the standalone headset. Sorry, save up another 400-500 bucks and buy one of these next time around, we actually dont care about PCVR that much...UNLESS YOU BUY A WUEST WITH THE LINK CABLE!!! All of our updates and fun stuff will be over here. But dont be mad! The colors on your headset are just a bit better. Oh yeah, screw an actual IPD adjustment for you too, peasant.” Like it feels like I was punished for buying the headset that was marketed and advertised to people like me. Idk man, ik ik, I’m super salty, but it feel justified in it. I just wont ever buy a FB/Oculus product again. I’d rather buy a headset from a different company and use revive for what I already have via the Oculus store. Maybe I’m wrong...but I feel like they duped all of the Rift S owners, not just me. Again, I still have fun, but I hate that every time I see an Oculus update it’s only the Quest platform. Go look up Oculus Rift S update. I bet there haven’t been any in at least a year, then look for Quest. There’s something like every 2 weeks coming out and/or being planned or talked about.
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you, FB/Oculus quite literally trolled us, but we have to move on now, the Rift as a brand is dead just like ScreenDoorVR's Rift they don't want to support PCVR anymore otherwise they'd be working on a wireless one, the only choice for us is to sell our Rift S and get something else, either a Quest 2 or something from another company. But hey at least we had fun with the Rift S, even though it wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
Tbh I think it was wrong what they did but at the same time I think they didn’t know the quest would have been as big as is that’s probably why they realest the rift s but I could be wrong but if you ask me I think they still should push for the rift the rift s as well because both are still amazing headsets to enjoy but I had a feeling this would happen that’s why I got the quest 2 but hopefully an update comes out where they stop asking us for a Facebook account and back to an oculus account and hopefully more support for there old headsets
@@travis4228 99% use for my VR is for sim racing so I'm just thinking of finally getting a monitor for the rig. Still have never-ending issues with my rift s lol
Still the best VR headset today that isn’t too expensive. I love it so much, my first real VR device. I’m gonna be so sad the day it dies. But hopefully I can upgrade before that.
Yeah quest 2 is superior. But its stupid that for people who still have the cv1 theres no way to replace the cable if it breaks. Cause oculus just stopped selling them. Issa shame cause the headset is fine, cable just broke

That's funny, Ijust finished playing my cv1. then played my quest 2 lost racking like 4 times in pop one so went back to cv1
they killed it for something they can lock u out of if they wish

I had so many issues with the 2 indexs I bought from valve I hope you have better luck because when it works it’s awesome !

There aren’t any third-party cables? Some company should make some, capitalize on the void
