Always great to watch an expert work. I'm fooling around inking other people's work, had no idea how to start. The idea of constantly spinning the page hadn't even occurred to me! So thanks.
I recently bought that pilot pen,G-TEC-C3 (0.15 mm),thanks to this video, its a best gel pen ever! I cant understand why it isnt so populair..thanks again!
I know the feels about the 0.5 pens. I am constantly frustrated by not being able to do extremely fine details with it so I have a 0.3 and 0.1 on hand just for that.
Esteban Quezada I like 11 x 17 inch Strathmore Smooth. There are ones made for comics with blue guide lines, but this paper is better and if you're printing on it you won't need the guides.
Amazing! I've been doing pencils for a while now and I'm only 15. I've been wanting to ink my work but kind of scared I'm going to mess up and ruin it. Any suggestions ?
What Andrew said :) Ink a decent copy or do what Richard is doing in the video. Eventually, though, I think you will have the skill and the confidence to ink directly over the pencils.
Sorry, Will, missed this. I don't, actually. I'd push you to pinch your pennies til you could get the light box. Skip Starbucks for a week and get one of these... www.amazon.com/HomCom-LED-Light-Tracing-Table/dp/B00IPUHKYQ/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1442375309&sr=8-11&keywords=light+box
bobby Hey, Bobby, Richard happens to be using these in this tutorial, but he is not picky about the brand of pen he uses. www.amazon.com/Hi-Tec-C-Maica-Komainu-Dou-Original-Package/dp/B00ODUZ2H4/ref=pd_sim_229_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0EPJMVP4MR8XTGQSWKDP
It's this one here. Very thin though, not a big fan of it. But for intricate lines very good, and of course for tech and mechas. www.amazon.com/Pilot-Ballpoint-Hi-Tec-Black-LH-20C5-B/dp/B0016YUGVC
I feel like the fine liner pen you're using leaves too much of a "sketchy" look to the piece. For some things, that works but not really digging it on this. Wouldn't a quill for most of that process leave a cleaner, easier to manipulate line?

I have always been a big fan of Richard Bennett. Thank you for posting this awesome video!

@@bennyvermeulen7255
Ah yes,I ve seen his videos as well.Yea,he uses some gel pen indeed.Im not sure I've seen him using G-tech, but maybe he did.
@@panzerpatriot4920 the pen looked familiar to me, saw a artist using it. Thought it was Scott. But those are good pens anyway.
Surgical AF, with that pen. Just beautiful.
what an amazing video. this guy is super talented
Thanks, Michael!
best vid of inks. Got many tips and stuff answered here that i could not get from other vids.
Glad to hear that!
Great Stuff!
Richard should do some storyboard tutorials! ;-)
Good work on these Tutorials.

his duck duck goose analogy made me laugh then instantly it made so much sense
Such a useful video ! Also, great skill being demonstrated here - thank you for sharing !
+HMW Art Thanks!!
Wow this guy is so good !
Hello ser, I was wondering if you could tell the standard measure of a typical comic book page for drawing.
Hi, Esteban, you probably want 11x17, but do a search on Amazon and see what your options are.
Can you please recommend me a type or brand of paper especially made for drawing?
Esteban Quezada I like 11 x 17 inch Strathmore Smooth. There are ones made for comics with blue guide lines, but this paper is better and if you're printing on it you won't need the guides.
Great, thanks for the advice, regards from Chile
Nice work!
Amazing! I've been doing pencils for a while now and I'm only 15. I've been wanting to ink my work but kind of scared I'm going to mess up and ruin it. Any suggestions ?
dont ink your only copy, scan it and ink a print out, or do what he did and ink on a layer taped over the original.
What Andrew said :) Ink a decent copy or do what Richard is doing in the video. Eventually, though, I think you will have the skill and the confidence to ink directly over the pencils.
+Ian Hannin +Andrew Demarest Thank you guys. Really appreciate it!
Fantastic talent
What if you don't have a lightbed? just in on top of pencils and then erase pencils?
+Video Game Intros Yeah, that's a perfectly fine way to go.
Get a Glass table, fix your mobile flash under it. Done!!!
Helped me A LOT
this is so satisfying
Thanks, Isabella :)
This is beautiful
On behalf of Richard... Thanks, Dan!
Very nice
Amazing art he did in x-men vol 2 #27 amazing artist :D
What a great video!
+Miguel Perez Thanks, man!
Words of wisdom.
Is that vellum? I was asked to ink a few storyboards and I do not have a lightbox. What are some of the standard equipment for this project???
Will Bailey Hey Will, that's just plain 11x17 Bristol. It's not very porous, otherwise the ink might spider out.
Thank you! Any suggestions for paper if I don't have access to a light box?

Pure talent!😎 ure so cool.
I'm just curious, why you didn't just ink strait up from the pencil drawing?
+joachim chavez This method allows Richard to keep the pencils and allows him the flexibility to deviate from the pencils if he chooses to.
Ian Hannin I've watched your videos about pencil, inking and coloring. How much time you guys consume on a single page?
what kind of paper do you use?
+Squill Bristol!
+Ian Hannin What kind of pen did he use to ink the thin lines? Also, who made the blue circle templates, and where can I get them?

Why would you ink on another sheet of paper instead of inking over the pencils?
what ball pen do you use ?
Can you send a link to the type of artist pens you are using? I've been using Faber-Castells, but they dry out so quickly. Also which size do use?
bobby

Sure, a quill would be cleaner. Richard is very experienced with quill. I imagine he got the exact look he was going for though.
Oh whoops, didn't read the summary. Silly me.
The pen your using is called pilot G tec c4 but I know there are other size number pen.
17:40 may i suggest you to read berserk kind sir.
Sure! Who's the author?
Ian Hannin Kentaro Miura
0.5 thin haha i sometimes like to use 0.05 hairlines.
just goes to show you that you do not need all kinds of fancy stuff to draw/ink just a few fine tip pens and a good old black sharpie
Any idea what he's doing these days?
Anthony Geist
Richard Bennett is storyboarding for some of Hollywood's biggest directors! J.J. Abrams, David Fincher among them. Amazing stuff.
What the hell are all of those noises interrupting??????!!!!!!! soo annoying!
+Samuel Villlafaña I know... sorry. Working to fix. :/
nice, it's not my earphones :D
MA EARSSSSS
Holy shit what is up with that static? Do you want to make people deaf?
Your inks aren't enough just as the marvel way says
my ears mate
Why do you keep saying marker. What your using is a pen and I know because I have that pen your using.
no offense but this is indeed BORING
