  • Kato have just announced some exciting new models coming in N-Scale. All of Japanese outline models, mostly EMUs. Also some 00-Gauge figures too. Interesting prices, coming to the UK at reasonable costs. Check out what's coming soon as I give my views on whats available to buy soon. Features part numbers and prices.

Fantastic little review mate, great to see Kato models, we never see enough and at reasonable prices.
Much more interesting than the usual boring n scale fare.😊

Contrast this with the class 450 4-car EMU from Farish with a list price far North of £300. There's a reason I'm buying Japanese N now.

Japanese HO is 1/80 as opposed to 1/87.

Apparently Mr.Kato has been to the UK - seen at a model railway exhibition, etc. Imagine if Kato extended its work with Peco to start doing full UK market models. BTW, I came across an Italian ACME HO wagon recently and was amazed by the detail - ever reviewed their products?

I'm pretty sure the N700S doesn't tilt... They run on dedicated high speed lines, there's no need for tilting around sharp curves.

A quick Google / Wikipedia search confirms they do tilt:
"N700 series trains have a maximum speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), and tilting of up to one degree allows the trains to maintain 270 km/h (168 mph), even on 2,500 m (8,202 ft) radius curves that previously had a maximum speed of 255 km/h (158 mph)."

The 10-1859 4 car set is unpowered, that's why it's cheaper.
