Good Tips Robin. We do both, Plan and Wing it. We are still on our 356 day "Roaming The USA Bikecation, and most of it is winging it.Because we camp a lot, it is easy to return to campgrounds that we've used in the past.
We that you are having a Blast on your trip. Ride Safe

I'm a planner if the trip is going to be over 3 day. Under that I might just pick a direction and just go. Great information as always. Thank you. ... Bob

Im with you when n the US. I’m finding here in Australia, you NEED reservations. About 70% of the time I only had a place because I booked ahead. 😳

And I have been following your shorts as you’ve been traveling. Yep I’m a planner and do not do spontaneity very well at all. In fact, I am planning my 4000 mile trip north and around the central United States this year in September. Like you, I have to have an idea of the hotels available in the area whether I booked them or not. I need options ahead of time. Last year I tried to fly by the seat of my pants thing and it didn’t work out too good because I had to drive at dark when I was tired on the motorcycle to find a hotel. That was not fun. Great video stay safe out there and enjoy your trip.

That is an issue for me: not knowing where I will sleep, being tired and having to push because of what is available… not a good mix. I’m so glad I booked ahead on the trip. Had I not, I would have gone without 70% of the time. Things here usually require booking at lease a full week ahead.
You will have such an amazing trip. Can’t wait to hear about it!

Plan? Just ride. Check every night what there is to see the next day en route. Sure one can have some ideas.

I have done a mix of this. I’ve missed a few things I’ve wanted to see, seen some things I didn’t know where there, and been too tired to look some nights. Thus… there is not ‘perfect’ way to plan. 👍🏻

      @@MotoByChance there is no “ perfect” anything, not even a Harley-Davidson. 🤪😝🤪😝
