Make sure you check the description for links to ALL the resources I talked about in this series, thank you as always to everyone who has watched this series beginning to end! ALSO it's my Birthday Saturday! (11/16) Sooooo ya know if you wanna get me a birthday present I won't say no lol, I made a list for your convenience :P www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7CHTD5SHNZYV?ref_=wl_share Or if you prefer to buy me a coffee: ko-fi.com/M4M7KPC7
Amanda, i know u probably hear this a LOT, but u r AWESOME! Your passion, transparency, experience, and general outlook r extremely inspiring. I can't get enough of your videos! My son is contemplating a massive trip to Denali next year and this series is absolutely perfect. There's always the things u know, or think u do about an undertaking like this, but it's the things that linger in the periphery that haunt u (e.g. border crossings). This series has certainly brought a LOT of those things to light and will help my son, and maybe me :D, have a great, positive adventure. Thanks again SO much for all u do for the community!
"it's fine, it's fine," of course it is, better than being at work. Wait. This IS your work, lol. Q&A is always a cool way to gain personal insights, go for it. One more thing, a common saying in the military, "No plan ever survives contact with the enemy." Like you said, remain flexible, bc there are many "enemies" on a moto trip. Nice wrap up to a great series, thanks. Happy Birthday!
lol well it's PART of my work :P I also make art for people, and I also have a day job as a cashier now (I don't work at the Motorcycle Dealership anymore so I don't get paid hourly to take people on day trips on the weekends lol) Excellent saying!
High five back at ya, young lady. Thanks again for your generous sharings. I've mentioned this before, but per chance some of your viewers missed it: truck stops are your friend. Many of them have laundry and shower facilities. And this app can tell you where the nearest ones are: truckerpath.com/trucker-path-app/truck-stops-near-me/ . Happy trails, Amanda!
Flexibility is everything on my trips. I schedule my hotels about 250 miles apart because I usually find cool stuff to visit in between. I end up riding around 300 miles per day and spending about 10 hours . Thats how it works in Michigan.
Happy b---day, Cub! Great tips like usual. The best tip I ever heard if you are doing a destination ride, i.e. rally etc, is in reference to clothing. If going to a set destination, like Sturgis Rally, Only pack a couple extra changes of clothing. Once at your camp site you can, and probably will, buy some cheap rally t-shirts, etc. Hit Wally World or other big box type store for pants etc. At the end of the rally, prior to load out, box up your extra items and drop them off at UPS to ship home. This is all a lot cheaper and more fun than trailering the bike behind a 3 axle motor home. In my opinion. :-)
Thanks so much Zurnie! That is an interesting tactic... I think I'll stick to my style of packing lol It is true though that we all inevitably bring back some kind of souvenir from rallies so it's good to leave room in the bags for unplanned purchases!
Thanks Tony! :D My biggest problem with riding in the dark is that temp drops a good 5-10 degrees and when it's only 58 when the sun is out.... ya know lol It gets uncomfortable with wind chill!
Love the video and series. Q&A is a great idea. How do you survive the winter? I’m already feeling the annual onset of cabin fever. I can’t even pretend it is summer anymore.
Thanks so much Robin!! lol the winter is always a struggle! I spend most of it planning routes I can take and completely ignore all of that hard work route planning once the summer comes around again. Also it helps that I also draw, so it's not too terrible to be stuck inside.
Thanks Moto Dans! :D Well I'm restricted to Oregon for the next few months since my financial situation is still trying to recover from the unexpected Clutch replacement that happened on the CABDR! I know seems like I should have paid that off by now, but I did a lot more trips this year than I had planned. *shrug* such is life! There is no current plans for a big spring/winter trip like I've been able to do the last two years (then again those trips were funded by a very well paying job, and that has changed quite a bit.) Rest Assured, once I have plans in movement you all will know about it! (Or at least a little bit after my Patrons do! lol)
well my dear the happiest of birthdays to you! set a date and stick to it... [sighs] i was packed to go to nc for the winter on the bike and then went in the first floor of my house to reset the thermostat and found a disaster; squirrels are the culprit i think. i've waited so long to go... my heart is broken. and here i thought only men could do that. well they didn't kill me and i suppose this won't either. SO i get to figure out how the little bastards got in and deal with it. the rest will sort itself out, right? love, hugs, every joy and happiness to you. like the old song says, 'you are my sunshine; you give me hope when skies are gray.' u remain an inspiration as always. i hope u have a most wonderful birthday!
@@AstheMagpieFlies my daughter knows someone who'll come look at the house. if they can block any holes they find and set traps inside the house, all i have to do is rescue quilts for now. i'm still packed for the trip south.
High-Five! The Sena footage looks pretty clean, ugghh it sucks that its getting so cold this year...last year I had no problem motocamping in the cold.
Thanks MotoRickyRicardo! I'm super stoked about the new Sena! Stoked to see how I can integrate my new helmet audio function in future travel vlogs! XD The cold has def swooshed right in SO quickly this year! Normally I can make it to the end of November no problem but that cold snap is kicking my a$$!

Nice video, I also love that background of the lake and the mountains. That place looks beautiful. (Great video quality, audio, and editing) Keep up the great work.
The way you said windshields are amazing was hilarious. Just enough pause 😂 I agree I throw a windscreen onto my magna for long distance! Hate the look but so functional :) I also over pack clothes cus I'm a stoopid head. I'm getting better! Great video and series. Really enjoyed it and learned a nice bit :)
Happiest of Birthdays (a little early) I just picked up my new Himalayan a couple days ago and planning my first (big-ish) trip in june from Seattle to Moab and back. Ooo! Excellent Question! I try to make sure at least one of my "shirts" I take is a button up so I can feign like it's a "nice" shirt lol In the winter I take a Pendelton Flannel that is WARM and also "nice", in the summer I have a lightweight and soft poly button up shirt (you'd probably recognize it if you saw it, it's a turquoise color.) Most of my Nylon pants are already pretty similar to slacks so I'm never worried about my pants not being presentable.
Forgot to ask...Q, If you were planing a trip of a LIFE time, where would it be? and why. Maybe another country or somewhere of interest to you. what is the first thing that come's in your mind :-) and are you saving for that trip Yet? :-)
