Elks and Moose lodges are great. I see no problem with either organization and a person's religion, just as long as you believe in God. Also, the Pythians are interesting. The masons are strange, a bit boring, and have a giant list of masonic organizations one can join if you're wealthy, as each group costs money every year for dues. The masons seem like a pyramid scheme to some degree. The fraternal order of eagles is also a good group to be part of. I've been a member of all and can say the animal lodges are best compared to the masons.
As a Catholic and an Elks member the Elks Lodge is completely compatible with the Christian faith. The Elks are not a religion. It is a social fraternity. Yes you need to have a belief in God to be a member, but otherwise it’s a benevolent and social organization that unites men and women that want to help their community and country. We support children, veterans, elderly, etc. in our communities plus have a lot of fun social events. It’s nothing like the Masonic organizations. As a Catholic we are not even allowed to be members of the Masons.

Well. I was a member of the Moose. I had to be because I was their bartender. But my Great Grandfather was a preacher and a member of the Masons. I have repented for both, and the generational curses that were put upon me by his sworn practices. I am glad I am free in Jesus, and that He opened my eyes to see and know Truth. Gods word is truth. The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

As an Christian and 13-year Elk, the Elks are completely compatible with faith. The point of the Elks is not social. Of course, there are social aspects to the Lodge, but the purpose is serving veterans, the local community. In other words, another place to be God's hands and feet.

I’ve been a Mason for over 25 years and I’ve known many members who were Catholic.
