    Thank you for the honest review Shane! To answer some of your question, we went with Snap caseback on the quartz variant because it is thinner than screwed casebacks contributing to the overall thickness.

      your returns policy is definitely a deal-breaker - no returns for a refund if you;re not happy with the watch is unacceptable for an online seller and it implies a lack of confidence in the product

    Revelot has excelled here at the price point Shane. The Automatic would be my choice always It's a step up in quality fit and finish. The colour of the dial here is awesome and the clarity of those Roman numeral markings is great. One for the collection. Nice choice.

    Agreed Shane..the 50m WR makes this a no go. It's too bad because at $130, it's a great value

    Agree completely with you view about "Snap on" case backs. I refuse to buy a watch that has one. For a few extra pennies any manufacturer could surely supply a watch with a screw on back. I also will not purchase a watch without a screw down crown. Over cautious, maybe, but that's the way I roll lol.

    Great review 👍 . I think is is a great shame that they have put such nice dial/hand sets in that horrible Nautilus style case, I hate the original , so another homage isn't welcome.

      Very true. And so many of the best dials are extremely limited 🤷
      I really like Revelot but this is a miss for me. But I hope it does well

    At 5:17 you said the movement was a Seiko “nh34 auto without a date.”
    WHAT!!! Shane, you’re not perfect. UN SUB! How could you 😭😭😭, lol 😂. Thanks for another fine review Bud.

    At this price the WR is a difficult subject to breach with sincerity. However, I completely agree with your stance on it. I honestly do not understand what is holding brands in most instances back to not make that slight simple upgrade to assure 10atm. I may be unaware of the markup for this, but I suspect it would be slight, and in the case of many dressier options, it would significantly widen the flexibility and any worries about the security of the sealing. I'm not sure about this proposition. The problem may lie in the fact that for me, again, the relative markup of using better movements and achieving a thinner case, and other details would just guarantee a product I'd be more likely to both enjoy and to hold onto. It seems a bit more dubious if that is the case when going for a value hunter.

    I genuinely like them. Only if they would put an NH35 in the black date model with rubber strap… yes I’m one of those strange “date only” guys. Always appreciate your take.

    • @silversaturn
      @silversaturn 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the feedback! we explored that option but adding date means sacrificing the 6PM roman which throws the balance of the watch.

    I would love for someone to do a video on whether a 50m watch is ok for swimming. Just take a cheap one from a reputable brand and leave it at the bottom of a pool for week, splash it as hard as you can, blast it with a garden hose, and see if it holds up. My suspicion is that there is no everyday activity that will cause moisture ingress into a 50m watch from a reputable brand with gaskets in good shape. the only caveat may be a hot tub but I’d avoid that for all depth ratings not just 50m. It would be great to test this given that everyone repeats how unacceptable 50m is.

    • @silversaturn
      @silversaturn 9 месяцев назад +2

      This watch is definitely not for swimming we will be the first to admit. We have dive watches as well for GAGA purposes, however we wanted the Gentus to be more of a dress watch. 50M also allows us to maintain the thickness below 12mm for the auto.

    Definitely pluses and minuses, but I think one of the biggest faux pas from my perspective and a business POV may have been such a limited number for the aventurine (and the next two that sold out while so many others appear to not be selling terribly well). I believe the aventurine sold out in like two minutes and to me, that one made the minuses less impactful. I missed out on one when I changed payment method to a card without international fees. By then, sold out and not interested in the others.

    Snap back caseback on a quartz is one of my few deal breakers. Especially a Tissot.

    • @silversaturn
      @silversaturn 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@silversaturn Not worth the hassle when changing batteries. I had a Tissot where it was so difficult to determine where to open it . And for what, a saving of .2mm?

    I like the turquoise but I feel the black chapter ring does not belong there. Not in the light dials like the turquoise and salmon, it makes the dial look very busy.

    • @silversaturn
      @silversaturn 9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the feedback, the black chapter ring was used to give good contrast on the railway legibility also to match the black hands and indices.

    Great review! This watch is not really for me and the lack of a screw down case back, seems like a missed opportunity. True it may add to the thickness but that's not entirely bad. I also think the screw down crown would have been a nice addition. Love the dial on these. Thanks again!

    I think it needs more time spent on the finishing. It looks a little rough around the edges. I prefer the markers on the quartz version to be on the automatic. A different handset would make the watch more elegant too. It would be great to see a ETA or Sellita powered variant.
    At the moment, integrated bracelet watches at £1000ish or less, I would go for the Tissot PRX powermatic 80 or the Christopher ward 12. I own the former which I'm happy with. I'd have to see the Christopher Ward in the flesh before pulling the trigger.

    Hi Shane, I wonder about the color of the turquoise, is it a good combination of blue and green looking more of a teal or aquamarine color?

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  9 месяцев назад

      It shifts in the light, but I'd say it's more blue... not quite Tiffany blue, but closer to that.

    I really like the roman numeral version based upon design but they should of left the lug guards off or slimmed them back because not being able to get to the crown is dumb.
    Edit: I am not much for integrated bracelet watches so I will not be purchasing one they are too big lug to lug for me to wear anyways heh.

    I like the dial a lot. I've never quite understood the use of wings as a design element. Not sure that it could help comfort.

    They look cheap and nasty to me. The dial is just nasty and the wings serve no purpose unlike the original which was very slim and looked good unlike this. It's just cheap and crude looking and I'm not trolling. It's just everything I hate - even the name of this model. I'll pass.
