DIY JEFF thanks! As a matter of fact they did. All f-350 crews were long bed. Trying to work a deal on one this week for a future build for the channel as a matter of fact.

I would say to look at how the crew cab frame is made. They are different under the back section of the cab compared to flat section of the high boy frame
Nice project! Question for your viewers, I have a 74 2wd 1/2 ton extended cab short bed ford that I’m wanting to do a body swap onto a 74 factory highboy frame. Other than having to add the extra body mounts does anyone know if I’m going to run into problems with the frame widths? From what I understand the highboy frames are narrower? Are all the dentside bodies the same as far as body mount locations on the 73-79’s ? I would park them side by side and take some measurements but I haven’t picked up the highboy frame yet. Thanks in advance!
You are completely right on big trucks, you will get shamed for non-zd frame cuts but that is how wrecker and big trucks are done and hold way more weight and stress than a regular truck.
What's funny is....... I would not hesitate to stretch my own frame the same way, but I would probably not buy a truck that has had the frame stretched with straight cuts.
Matt, this is freaking awesome. Love how you extended the frame and it all lined up perfectly. I am restoring a 73' F250 Crew 2wd right now. I live in Montana however and 4wd is kind of a need for the mountains and winter up here. I have considered quite a few different options to convert it to 4wd and yours by far seems to be the most effective for what equipment and parts I have available. I know a junkyard locally that has 4 dentside highboys that they will part with. Cabs are toast but frames and suspension components are good. I'm just curious if you know, would this work for my dentside 73' if I extended a dentside frame the same as you did with your bumpside? I don't know the differences in frames from the years and bump to dent differences. Very nice build man. Looks amazing. Keep up the awesome work man. Cheers. 🍻
Well on regular cab 2wd body swaps the factory highboy out board mounts are there and you can use those. I did that on my ultimate highboy build this pass fall you can check out on my channel. But on this crew cab build we used a regular cab frame for a crew cab body so the rear mounts were too far forward and were removed.
There was never a 4wd crew cab long bed. All the crew cab highboys were F-250 short beds. We are restoring this one to as close to factory as we can get so It had to stay short bed!
My Dream HighBoy Truck!
Awesome build!! love the bump sides.
Glad you are enjoying the build!
Very cool. Thx for documenting the project!
Nice build!! I love it. I wish they made the crew cabs in 8' beds.

DIY JEFF no it’s a 72. All f-250s were short bed all f-350s were long bed. No 4wd f-350s though.
@@MattKubik1791 doesnt matter where you mark it,so long as your cuts a strait,use 5" 1mm blades.or saws all..easy.

Hello...... Awesome work. You know where any projects for sale?
Not at this current time. I have plans to sell my most current 70 crew cab but it needs word done to it before I sell it.
You are completely right on big trucks, you will get shamed for non-zd frame cuts but that is how wrecker and big trucks are done and hold way more weight and stress than a regular truck.
Yup this frame is never going to see any stress.

bl1ndman I think they were 6.5’
Hey man great videos, do all 2wd body swaps to highboys need the rear cab crossmember removed from 2wd frame and added to highboy frame.?

You looking to sell that
i seriously would have made it a longbed

Could you have just put the highboy suspension on the crew frame?
Probably on a Chevrolet you can
What's up
