"One time my brother turned into a snake, because I love snakes, so I went to pick him up and he said, 'haha! It's me!' Then he stabbed me"
Ah yes, the improvised lines by Chris Hemsworth from Thor: Ragnarok
"We were eight at the time..."
Thats quoted very wrong but whatever
Love this

Zeus: What's up bro.
Odin: What's up bro.
Zeus: Take swing bro.
Odin: I'm right here.
Thor: come on, lay the floor with this one.

Mythology or MCU?
That goes hard
The Vanir are basically gods of nature while the Aesir are gods of war.
And both realized there was no point in fighting if you couldn't feast afterwards.
Culture would make more sense than just war
That division is a modern romantic concept that has been pointed out by many scholars not to make sense. In the myths the Vanir holds domain over such concept as wealth, prosperity and trade, community, art, rulership, diplomacy, agriculture, sailing, love, marriage and peace, which aren't exactly nature concepts. And while they do also have some power over natural forces so does the Aesir.
But if there is one group of nature gods in Norse myth the Jotnar are certainly the closest as they include Ægir the god of water and sea, Halogi the god of fire, Kari the god of air and wind, Nott the goddess of the night, Jord the Mother Earth, Urd, Verdandi and Skuld the main Norns who control fate and time, etc. The Jotnar are far more directly and exclusively linked to nature than either the Vanir or Æsir.
I think, more accurately, the Aesir were connected to combat, war, and raw power, while the Vanir were connected to nature, magic, and Precognition. Just my opinion.
@@Tribrid-zv3nq, I was just trying to be Accurate.
The Mimir I knew is hanging in the hips of the Ghost of Sparta.

Norse Mythology vs Greek Mythology vs Roman Mythology: Which out of the 3 is the greatest?
Greek and Roman mythology have many similarities
@@destroyer9153 I know, but which one's gods would win in a fight against eachother?
@@kingarthur7673 so here is the thing. The Roman mythology pretty much came from the Greek mythology with just different names... Who would win? The answer would be No one since they are pretty much the same...
Which comic book are the illustrations from?
I'm pretty sure this channel consists of a team who creates the comics, script and decides the music. Also the artist's name is typically in the description.
Why do you pronounce Vanir as veneer?
Anyone else using a restroom pass to watch this video...biology can wait !!!
I would to see Norse gods vs Greek gods video although I love both of them.
As a Norse Asatruar I will tell you the greatest difference between Odin and Zeus is that Zeus believes he is completely indestructible and cannot be killed no matter what, he also believes the Sun and the Moon to be indestructible and cannot be destroyed no matter what.
Odin is a god that understands his own fatal mortality, he unlike Zeus understands that one day the Moon and Sun shall be destroyed and so he seeks wisdom, that is why Zeus never sacrificed his eye and hung to the World Tree Yggdrasil- Because he is overly confidant.
Odin prepares Valhalla and gathers the greatest warriors of the world to join him for the final battle whereas Zeus thinks that he can overcome it all by himself.
In the end Olympus and Asgard are both destroyed, but because of Odin's forsight that he gained through great Sacrifice he was able to prepare for the destruction of Asgard and so the realm of Idavollr, the Children of Odin is allowed to exist and continue the glory of Asgard whereas Olympus has no Romano/Greek realm to replace it and is forgotten.
@@LucidWanderer Olympus doesn’t fall 🤨, thers no ragnarok for the Greeks
@@junkdogjoe2677 That is what Zeus believes, he believes that Sun and Moon to be eternal as well yet we know better.
@@LucidWanderer lol where tf comes that sun and moon talk from? Zeus and Olympus are eternal, immortal dieties who defeated any challenge to their rule. Norse Gods, not so much.
@@vlad_47 Let me start from the beginning, Long ago the Indo-Europeans dispersed and settled different lands, the Germanic/Celtic peoples preferred the forests where as the Greek/Roman people preferred the plains, this is why in ancient Greek/Roman society we see politics divided into different regions such as the Plains Faction, Sea Faction and Mountain Faction, the Plains faction generally consisting of wealthy land owners as this was the best land for farming.
The Southrons did not live amongst nature and so they have a lesser understanding of natural life, because of this their pantheon consists of gods immortal including the Sun and Moon being immortal titans just as Zeus claims to be, but that doesn't make the Sun and Moon immortal or Zeus even if he feigns immortality out of ignorance, they will be destroyed one day, we have the technology to measure the life span of stars.
We men of the North, our ancestors had a better understanding of the world, they understood that eventually everything dies and is also reborn under the right circumstances, we know that Odin does not fight Ragnarok to preserve Asgard, but to give Idavollr a chance to exist and thus carry on the glory of Asgard.
All things end, but can be alive again, Asgard lives again in Idavollr, where Magni and Modi raise high the hammer of their father Thor but because of Zeus overestimating his own abilities, when Ragnarok does come to Olympus it will not rise again from the ashes.
You can feign immortality if you like, just as Rome did, but you wont have long to do so.
Norse Gods, Sweet
Ooh turns out they had their own squabbles like the Greek pantheon did
honestly i like the thor/porr design i like that he has red hair and not blonde
That’s how he was described in myth so it makes sense
That was kinda anticlimactic. Two gods severed heads are given back to you and you sue for peace?
In my head-cannon, the vanir are Celtic gods.
Tbh, every fking gods except for the first one have giant’s blood

Nurse gods die every time Greek gods do not die because they immortal

The title should be "Norse Mythology: War of the Asgardians and the Aesir Gods"
No it shouldn't.
The gods of Asgard *ARE* the Aesir.
@@elricthebald870 Oh. My bad
So what's the difference between Vanir and Aesir Gods?
@@battlestar8879 The Aesir are the descendants of Buri. Who in turn was the ancestor of Vile, Ve and Odin and rule over Asgard.
The Vanir, including Njord, Frey and Freya, come from Vanaheim. Their origins are lost to history.
