This is so painful, the only thing that's holds me back is my mom and brother. If I kill myself they will be hurt the most. This is terrifying depression, mix with severe anxiety, so disconnected and hopeless.

It's Noah here and it really is a great book. I was given that book when I was released from the psych ward and it kept me going. Stay strong Steve. Just a small step each day really does help me. Do try to get out of the comfort zone, even just to go to the local shop. Compliment a stranger, like the lady at the checkout by saying you like her hair, just a small smile here & there sent out & people will respond with kindness & smile. Then you know you have made the world that bit better. I suffer as well, & this does help me knowing I am weak but I can still make others smile/happpier. Take good care.

I am 21 and i have major depression. Just imagine being deeply sad, thinking and thinking, having no interest at all, hurting yourself to ease the inner pain and thinking about suiciding !! All these things for every day for months or years. I know fair enough what a man with depression wants. LOVE, TRUE LOVE !! You have no idea what power love has...

im at a point in depression where its like, life doesnt make sense. you work until your body gives out and then you die? its very hard for me to wrap my head around life. i have prayed everyday since around october of 2007 for my depression. i feel like im going to just stop breathing and nobody will be around. i moved to town to be closer to the hospital in case of an emergancy. im 24 years old and i have kids and a wife who have to suffer through this because i cant go to fairs, trips or even big stores without freaking out, running outside and pouring water all over me. its so embarrising. this anxiety has made me into a shity son, shity husband and a shity person to be around. its a matter of time before my wife leaves me because of this. but nobody is going to read this... nobody cares about some guys posting of youtube talking about his problems. Please God, cure me from my anxiety and depression, in Jesus name I pray Amen.

I'm not religious, but what you said touched me, I am very sorry for what is happening to you, but as people who have recovered from mental illnesses seem to say, there is hope, there is a way out, through whatever means or form that may be, but it can be done, stay strong and seek a support group, I'm trying to build one in my town right now, as there is no such thing in my whole country, as far as I've noticed from my research, and that scares me, but at the same time gives me even more hope.

I used to before my anxiety exchanged for depression. One thing I can say is depression is way more favourable over anxiety, they both ruin your life but at least depression shortens your life, I’m thankful I’m not gonna have to live 60 years of self isolation and paranoia anymore

I am 33 and I have been dealing with major depression & anxiety all my life most noticeable around age 10. I have been on a number of anti depressants & anti anxiety meds & seen many counsellors and psychologists but NOTHING has ever worked for me sometimes I have ok days but not very often. I feel like a burden to my family I'm currently living back with my mother & I have no partner & few friends. I feel like things will never get better only worse & no one around me understands so I isolate myself making things worse. I constantly think about suicide now because the future just looks so bleak. The only thing stopping me from ending it all is the pain I would cause my mother & a fear of being stuck in this world as a ghost as punishment for ending my life but I'm feeling worse & worse I have no hope whatsoever & really think one day soon I'm going to have to end my pain.

I woke up one day with extreme anxiety and it stayed that way for 2 years while taking a ssri zoloft. I was working but not very well. I got to the stage where my mind just started shutting down and starting feeling happy when thinking about death. I ended up going back to a different doctor who specialised in this area. He put me on Avanza as well, i have started to see a posative change, taking more interest and less anxiety. I appreciate your story and will look into it further.

When we are so associated in our mind with the seen world, it can be hard to connect with the unseen. So it is a process. I loved how you are fully persuaded that it wasnt some chemical or strategy that saved you. That kind of surrender is so liberating. Noah this man is most excellent and trustworthy.

I can't bring myself to have a shower let alone exercise, I can't stand company, I ignore texts and make excuses not to go out or see anyone. I wake up, get my Son ready then once he's gone I drag myself around to do essential housework then sleep all day till my Son comes home, rinse and repeat every day. Conversation is exhausting and stressful, making a phone call or paying a bill is a monumental task. I'm so pleased you recovered.

I've been taking clonazepam for almost 11 years now for anxiety and it really helps. But this depression is killing me. My only motivation to go to work is to pay my rent. I keep everyone distant... I can't get out of my head. I'm the nicest guy because I fake it. I really do care for others... and these videos help, but is there a pill that can make me happy... to give me more incentive to keep pushing?

I've read there's a pill made from "magic mushrooms" that's supposed to help people like us, but naturally it's illegal and in some university study up north. The article is in a recent Psychology Today magazine. (11-10-2018) Also, watch some videos about Psychedelics and Depression. Micro-dosing seems to work for many. I'm an old fart living in my self-made hell and don't know where to get "shrooms" as it's called, or I would try it myself. I've tried just about every anti-depressant on the market but nothing has helped so far. I would try micro-dosing a good sativa but that's illegal where I live too. Sorry I'm 3 years late.

Truly inspiring! I suffer from the the same things he has but more and for different reasons but I believe just listening to his story has mended one of my many wounds just enough to feel it. His closing statements like the everything must come up, if your going through hell don't stop, love and friendship is a very good way to heal are absolutely true. Right there is the best advice I have ever heard in my life about anything and it can do do much more than that stupid stuff everyone says like don't give up it gets better or stay strong and you'll get through, etc. that's just empty words and it doesn't carry any value because it can be related to do many things while his advice is true advice, it is something ONLY people who have gone through this can relate to and that makes it so much more meaningful to people. This guy is truly an inspiration to me. Please if you have read this far please share this video and like this comment so people can be helped by both. Thanks for posting the video as well I think it was a great choice to make this one. Remember, a good laugh makes a good time!

I recently lost my aunt/best friend unexpectedly. Myself & my 13 year old daughter lived with her for years, she was like a second mother to her. After her passing, we realized the home we all shared was very behind in payments. I am a recovering addict with 14 years clean & am disabled with a non healing broken femur. I cannot work & live on state benefits for me & my daughter. We have nowhere to go. I've asked for help, no one has offered help or really even cares. I'm paying utilities here to keep the house going until we have to go (which will be very soon) and it's leaving me with nothing. The depression & helplessness has gotten so intense, I used to oversleep, now I can't sleep, I cry from the time my daughter leaves for school until I know she's coming home. I feel like a complete loser, a horrible mother, I'm terrified of becoming homeless. I don't even have any friends who would be willing to let us stay until housing of some sort becomes available. To make matters worse, my daughter's "father" who has been absent 99.5% of her life is now trying to come back, she's 13 & wants nothing to do with him. I found him years ago & tried to give him the chance to be a father & he'd come around, then disappear, and repeat until he vanished for good. He showed up at the end of January (knowing the pain we were suffering) & filed an emergency custody hearing which thank God the judge found that my daughter was in no danger. This man was accused of molesting our older daughter & my son from a previous marriage yet never tried for it. He denies everything. I refuse to make my daughter "accept" him into her life if she doesn't want it. I'm so depressed, I feel so hopeless & helpless, if I didn't have my daughter, I'd probably end my misery but I could NEVER do that to her. She's the light of my life, the one thing keeping me going. But I don't know how much longer I can go on feeling this way. I was seeing a psych who had me on an antipsychotic which had horrible side effects (I stopped taking it) & refused to put me on one that I knew had previously helped (I've had depression/anxiety since childhood). She had me on a high dose of Xanax, which I've weaned myself down to 0.5mg a day & Ambien at night which I also stopped. I take pain meds for my leg & the doctors are so afraid of getting sued, they want to stop the meds even though I need them to just function without severe pain. I feel like I'm in a hole that i can't get out of.

Thank you for this video. I am disabled with Lupus and a couple other autoimmune disorders. Divorced from an abusive husband. I cried the whole time I watched this. I have always been high energy go go go. Now I lay in bed. I've tried many depression meds but am allergic to so many. Please pray for me. I have planned my suicide where it looks like an accident so my kids won't bear the pain. My youngest has to finish high school and I am the caretaker. God bless!

So sorry to hear you are suffering. I also am 'surviving depression/anxiety' or I like to call it 'surviving mental illness' rather than 'suffering' as the word survive is empowering, hopeful and positive. I have uploaded a letter I wrote to depression telling it how it destroyed my life and how I am creating boundaries for it, I took my anger out in a letter. Maybe you should try it and hang in there - YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

    1) picture what you want, and make sure each day you are doing something which brings you closer to that goal
    2) be flexible, stop trying the same thing and failing, try something else which you are succeeding at
    3) stay positive, get rid of negative language and thoughts (easier said I know) speak positive, do positive your attract it,
    4) don't expect any one to understand what your going through as it only makes it worse
    5) keep your friends close don't isolate yourself (tell them if you want but i wouldn't recommended it)
    6) exercise at least 1 once a week, eat healthy,
    7) believe in your self, if you think your fail or your succeed I guarantee you knew it before it happened.

+Maria Espinal continue to look forward, appreciate where you are in life and remind your self how far you came,, Essentially everything you learn in life's toughest times are your most valuable life lessons, so remember what you did to get out of it, apply these methods every day and your never have to go back to it

The only thing I need to know about these types of recovery is, if I do not believe in higher powers, what do I believe in? What's the substitute? Do I put my trust into the chaotic ways of the universe? Trust what so far hasn't showed or is even capable of caring about what I go through? This is so hard to overcome when it is just me myself and I.

This was so amazing. Is it sad I almost cried watching this? This is the only thing that really gave me hope. I wish I was more religious, it would probably help a lot. That and the fact that if the girl I loved felt the same way and I knew this, my depression would be cured for sure.

Douglas,, As you well know,, my Goal is to watch everyone of your video's, As I see they have been all out sequence. I feel so bad that you have gone through all you have,, however,, you were saved do to your Gifted Mind. You have no idea as to how you have aided me,, as I am sure, many others who watch your video's. I see know how you understand every situation. You have been and seen them in your own life, and this is what makes you the High Power for understanding. Now in the present day, I truly think that depression is at it's highest. It is among all walks of life, even children in Elementary School, are suffering from depression. I hear this from friends who are teachers. The only thing I can see,,, myself,, is that it is from seeing the Parents Depression. It is spiraling. Many reasons I myself cannot get into,, and can't allow myself to get into. Just so sad to see the Depression Rate so high in Our Great Country,, something is so wrong with this picture. At any rate,, Douglas,,, ....... God Bless You Always,, and I will remember always,, the phrase the Next 24 Hours. Thank you
