If I met you with Brisket, I would recognize Brisket first, and greet him, and then say hello to you two.
I know my dogs and prioritys 😂😂😂
I do the same! No offense to the humans but doggos get first priority 😂 - M
I live and grew up in Sorgenfri and the blacksmith at frilandsmuseet was my great (x5) grandfathers.... at Bakken my grandfather fixed the wooden rollercoaster every winter most his life and now I do electric work out there in many of the rides each year before opening. :)
One of the beds there have also been used by my distant forefathers.
@@mwtrolle cool. :) As a worker it is kinda cool for me to look at that house and the tools and imagining my distant forefather working there... a weird connection to a distant past... :)
@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds Is it the one connected to the house close to the small lake.
@@mwtrolle jup! He and his wife lived in that house and he worked the blacksmith shop daily... :) (I don't have any proof, but this was just what was told to me by my parents while growing up. My mom used to do some digging in the family tree...)
I live in Denmark and get to see much of this country, when friends come to visit from abroad. I love seeing this country through your eyes
Lol. I'm glad you've had a good time so far. Also IDK if you noticed but those buildings in the background around 8:34 are part of the area themed to the TV series Matador. Its the park's little recreation of Korsbæk.
Also Miranda. If you need a good roller coaster fix, I highly reccomend Djurs Sommerland and Fårup Sommerland over in Jutland. Djurs's is the biggest theme park in Denmark, with a ride that when it opened was in the top 5 best rollercoasters in the world (It's "The Pirate" btw). Fårup too has some slightly smaller coasters but still a solid collection of thrilling rides! And both places have pretty good waterparks included in admission too, I mean Fårup has one of those slides where you stand in a cabsule and it drops you down into not 1 but 2 of those slanted waterslide loops back to back! If you wanna go a little more extreme then hop over into Sweden and visit Liseberg over in the heart of Gothenburg, or Gröna Lund over in Stockholm. Both have some absolutely insane rides!
Yes, the Young’s should watch Matador when their Danish are good enough to understand. Great TV show!
I beaver really prioritized to watch it. But doing the corona pandemic I ran out of stuff to watch, so I though, why not. And it were great.
Don’t know if you can get it with English subtitles though.
I just found your channel and now i cant stop watching. Its exciting to see foreigners learning the "danish" ways
“Purse holders UNITE!” 😄 glad to know I’m not the only one who does’nt enjoy G forces. Love the Frilandsmuseum❤️ like stepping in to history. I am a preschool teacher and the place holds so many golden moments for me in the company of children wondering, taking in how things were in the olden days. The size of the beds is allways a reason to wonder. “my dad won’t fit in that!”😄
Ha, I think we need a t-shirt - Purse Holders Unite! Love it!
And for a long time the beds were made to sit up in. As they though that if you were laying flat and fell asleep you might not wake up again.
Have been to Frilandsmuseet many times. It seems like there are never enough time though. There are always things I do not get time to explorer.
stof og stil is a little bittersweet for me and my family, while it is amazing, it did force my mom, my aunts and my grandma to close down their small fabric and tailor shop. still have fond memories of hanging out in the shop as a child :)
I think i saw you in Tivoli today ! I asked my daughter and she also recognized you. But we didnt walk over to you...sorry. I also saw Jesper Binzer 5 min before we saw you guys, so it is seleberty day to day =)
Haha, we were there earlier today! Feel free to say hi if you see us again :). I hope you had a good day there, we didn’t stay too long but it was a gorgeous day and nice to get out.
Alcohol is a meal... That's the most Danish thing ever haha 🤣🇩🇰❤️
Back in the days anyway, it truly were.
Yes I agree a good beer beats a roller-coaster
probably not the oldest amusement park but the oldest still existing amusement park :) great show by the way :)
Wow, the production quality of this is so good
Thanks!
About that presumed Swede on the paddleboard, remember this. If the sea is frozen, and you spot a swede crossing over towards Denmark, you allowed to beat them with a stick
Haha!
@@TravelinYoung You laugh, but its actually true. Its in the danish law; some weird relic from past times which has not been updated for 200 years.
@@dgh25 it's not really true - but it's a great myth/joke.
@@dgh25 as it has already been said, it isn't true. Even if we had such a law, which is doubtful, the way law works is if a newer law contradicts an older law, the older law gets invalidated. So there is no need to update the law, it would have fallen out of use anyway.
Thanks for another great video.
Regarding the deer in Dyrehaven. Here you can meet three of the four species we have in Denmark. Red deer, fallow deer and sika deer. The ones you can see in the background of your video are fallow deer, not red deer.
The red deer is the largest deer in Denmark, and is reminiscent of the American Wapiti deer, although with brown to reddish color.
The fallow deer is the only one with shovel antlers. It is the second largest deer in Denmark.
Fallow deer and Sika deer are both imported from Asia in the 17th century for hunting.
Are you sure, I have not seen Fallow deer in the size herds, but have seen Red deer in herds like that.
Watched the video on my phone so could not see the deer that well mostly the numbers.
So close to 13.000 already, super duper growth!
Fun to follow you guys around. Bellevue is nice, as well as Charlottenlund Fort - when weather gets abit warmer :)
Thanks, amazing growth so far! We will check out the fort for sure, thanks!
So you should go to Dyndet its near Borup..very nice pancakes....🙂🙂
That Krenkerup beer is from the Krenkerup Castle a bit outside of Sakskøbing in Lolland. They make a damn good beer, i can highly recomend it. Their Stout are one of the best made in Denmark - after my humble opinion at least - and their Høstbrug are really tasty too.
Fun fact about Bakken, it is THE oldest amusement park that has been continously open to this day. It originally opened in 1583!
It was, but does it still count as of after the corona down time?
:P
I just saw your Cubs jersey, and came to think of i was in Chicago when the Cubs won the World Series. Very fun to experience!
It was crazy! Not a huge Cubs fan but we lived close by. That night was like New Years in Denmark :).
@@TravelinYoung yes it was very wild! we were visiting my sister-in-law in Evanston and there was a party in the streets. fun to experience when coming from another country.
It was great getting to meet you guys out there, hope to see y’all again later this season :D
And it was brisket that gave you away ;)
Yet another wonderful video. I haven't been to BAKKEN in more than ten years, even though I can ride in all the amusement parks in Denmark for free. After watching your latest video, I'm thinking that maybe this year it's time to pay it a visit :o)
Do it, such a cool place!
Great video guys kind of funny we also have all those things in Aarhus well we don't have bakken ours is tivoli Friheden and our open air museum with historical buildings Den gamle by as you know but we also have Bellevue strand and dyrehaven
Can you all have a great Friday and a great Easter hope I can make it to the live stream
Mvh Runethedane
Reasons why Aarhus is such a great town :). Hope you can make it! Have a great Easter!
@@TravelinYoung yep Aarhus is a great city. I really hope i can make it but when you wake up 5.30am to get to work 7am and get off from work 4pm and can finally lie down and exhale and drink coffee 5pm it's gonna be quite thight but I'm gonna try really hard to get there in fully awake condition:)
For some reason as a scandinavian I'm proud to see americans enjoying living here. And I agree with Tomas that it's always like that.. tourists or people who move here see more of my hometown in a few weeks than i've done in almost 40 years.
Just to inform Krenkerup is one of our old noble castles on Lolland owned for 18 generations by count Reventlow and one of the manor palaces making beer as Gavnø.
Thank you for another amazing video :) i really enjoy it. I really understand why you love Bakken so much, i have been comming in Dyrehaven and Bakken since i was a boy, and when i was training for marathon in my younger days i run many kliometers out there. When i got kids i took them out here for trips all seasons of the year, so today they also love the Dyrehaven. When the children was little , we also go out here at the autumn collect cheastnuts and go home afterwards to make animals or other things at the chestnuts with Matches as legs and things like that, its a thing you do here at the autumn every year.
But again , thank you for the good videos, il be here again monday at livestream.
Happy easter to all the youngs :)
You should try the wooden
roller coaster at Bakken. It's "very" old, dates from 1932, and it's fun.
I would love you guys to visit the country side city of Næstved, I'd love to be your guide should you choose to visit some day. Experience a bit of the Danish country side, lots of cultural sites and good eating places, Happy Easter by the way!
I've been to Naestved a few times and indeed it is a quaint and nice small city in the countryside of Denmark. I have friends that still live in the area.
You lot see more of Denmark than most Danes do. Respect. If you're back at Fyn at some point you should have some Brunsviger. It's a cake.
Definitely on the list!
Hi youngs. If you ever visit Lolland, and want to taste some more great beer, you will find Krenkerup brewery just outside of Sakskøbing 😊🍺 it's such a really cozy place and they have delicious Tapas too.
Absolutely! You also had me at tapas :). We plan to get to Lolland for sure and all future tips will include a visit to a brewery :).
Great update
Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us👍😀
Really nice to see my previous home area. I lived 17 years in Lyngby and went a lot to Dyrehaven. It is a very popular place also for foreign photographers because it is the only place in the world where you can get within 10 feet of a deer without it moving. I recommend you to visit in September/October when the big red deer males get in heat and they are calling, this is an amazing sight; just don't get in their path :-)
Have you ever been out in the Dyrehaven during mating season for the deer? Their roars sounds like big burbs and belching. It is a quite fun experience and usually there are guided tours with a nature guide.
PS. Miranda you said Roskilde the exact moment the train I was in arrived at Roskilde station.
Love that bikefail in the background...lol.
Im in complete agreement with Joshua on the Ride vs Beer priority there. Its just better to keep the feet firmly connected to the ground, preferably with a cold beer in the hand and the sun on the face :)
Thomas is right. When you live someplace, you never visit :-( ! I've lived in CPH for 40+ years, but never been inside the "Round tower" :-( ! You guys have shown me so much of my own town and country ! Thanks to you, I'm gonna spend my vacation, visiting my own country (with friends) :-) this year ! When I've gotten my "shots" ;-) !! BTW! I go to "Bakken", and have been to "Frilands-museet":-D ! Love both :-) ! Thanks "Young's" :-) !!
Some people do. I have visited a lot of places. But surly not at the same rate as when I’m traveling to some other part of the world.
LOL! I've seen more of the US, than Denmark :-( ! I guess you just take it all for granted, when you live here ;-) ! Actually , my vacation is gonna be based in DK, inspired by th "Youngs"! But they still need to go "Ribe" (Denmarks oldest town). BTW. I live in Valby, and am not from Ribe :-) !
There are some cool spots along the northern coast from Copenhagen, near Gentofte and Jægersborg
3:30 back in the days, before 1700.
People in Denmark actually did drink beer as a supplement for food, even the small kids.
Though it was with a low alcohol content.
It gave them some of the minerals they needed and also the water were kind of dangerous to drink in the cities. As you could get manny bad bacteria’s from it.
12:03 my grandparents lived in Taarbæk less then 100 meters from one of the gates, so I have come there a lot.
Yes! Yes! You called it candy floss!
If you ever come to Herning, i would be more than happy to show you around. There Re many interesting things to see in the vicinity
Er det ikke udkandt Danmarks hovedstad?:P
Guys, guys...if you haven't done it yet..when you pick up Maya (if you do) go to Hundested and visit Halsnæs Bryghus by the harbor!
Josh, you can have a home brew; or two 🤔😉 while you are the 'official purse holder'
bc the ladies might want to take walk-about & shop! 🌸
Haha! Yes! We were there a couple of days ago and tried to stop by the brewery but it wasn’t open. We decided that once things are back we will sit on the harbor and enjoy a beer....or 2. :). Super cool location!
@@TravelinYoung I can strongly recommend Hundested. I grew up in the town. 😊
@@TravelinYoung the whole norther coast of Sealand are great.
was sure you guys was in århus for a sec there. didnt know there was a bellvue strand and dyrehaven in kbh aswell
My kind of man - beerdrinking - love it.
I feel like Miranda would absolutely love Djurs Sommerland. It's got some of Europe's largest rollercoasters and a lot of them to boot!
Congratulations on 13k subs!
Thanks!
10:58
The deer we got in most of Denmark are small with shorter spiky horns. Kronhjortene or in English red deer are much bigger and have those huge horns. It’s the fourth-largest deer species behind moose, elk, and sambar deer.
Moose and elk do not live in herds like that. The Sambar only live if smaller groups of female deer.
So it’s the biggest kind of deer living in herds like that.
Pretty fun to hear what you guys think About the place i have live my whole life🙂
13:30-14:00 I didn’t listen to you but got distracted by the person in the background 😂🤣
Hehe, didn’t see that before seeing your comment.
a cold beer in the sun, what more can you want ;).
Exactly!
If you guys ever have the chance I would really recommend visiting Hedeland, which is west of Copenhagen. Its absolutely beautiful and worth the trip! Would recommend doing it when the Hedeland train is open :)
Happy Easter Youngs😀
Thanks, happy Easter to you also!
If you guys are looking for something new to experience, I can recommend Roskilde.
Id start at the harbor where you can see Viking ships under construction, and a museum for an ancient Viking ship.
from there, if you look towards the city center, you can usually see some spires of a huge Churche. wich you can walk to.
theres great scenery both in winter and Summer time. so if you want a tour guide, I can show you around and show the good spots in Roskilde. :)
My favourite fact about the viking ship museum: When they expanded the museum in the 90´s, they found 9 more ships in the ground, at the museum.
We are definitely eager to get back to Roskilde once the weather is warmer and things open up again. We love it there!
@@TravelinYoung If you guys need a guide, just send a msg. :)
@@TravelinYoung though you had been there. Nice city, and the Viking ships are impressive.
You should try to go sailing in one of the bigger reconstructions. It’s really cool and you will be impressed if it’s speed if there is some wind.
Good morning, nice to follow your life and your experience in living in Denmark, I have to corret you about the deer in this video, it's Dåhjorte (Cervus dama.) and not Kronhjort (Cervus elaphus) as Miranda reffers to. looking forward to the live stream.
Oh you're right! I forgot there's a difference between the fallow deer and the red deer. We'll just have to go back again!
Frilandsmuseet use to be a farming trade school and then later it has also been another school. Then it became a museum. Bakken is undersold in most vlogs. The only deer that aren't allowed in the park are Roe Deer. The ones behind you are fallow deer, Red Deer are way bigger, not as big as Roosevelt Elk, there are also Sika Deer.
It`s the same with me. My American friend have taken me to places in Denmark, I have never seen before
You should visit the Danish Tramway museum and Trelleborg Viking museum.
We’ve been to trelleborg before the channel, but we will go back this summer :). Never been to the tramway museum though.
@@TravelinYoung Was it during the festival? The tramway museum is 100% driven by volunteers. Look for Sporvejmuseet Skjoldenæsholm
@@karstend542 it was yes, in 2019. It was a very cool experience.
@@TravelinYoung Next time, hit me up, I'll give you a tour
Have you been to the Louisiana Museum? It’s really lovely - both the museum and the sculpture park 😍
Glyptoteket (Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek) in central Copenhagen is really beautiful as well, especially the winter garden with its palm trees 😊
Bet you got some way bigger roller coasters in The States, but I hope you had a great time, anyways 😅 btw, I'm the purse holder 😅
Haha, we are an elite group, us purse holders :).
@@TravelinYoung preach! 🤣
Even the purses and bigger in the US.
The castle eremitagen de have kitcen in the celar kælderen Nthe have a giant table go from downs there to the dining room tru the floor 😀
If u wake up around sunrise, OR are rdy about sundown, Denmark definitly has the best sunrises/sundowns, almost like watching the northerns lights at some points
I was out at 5:50 last monday, just _before_ sunrise and the bird orchestra was... amazing.
Guys I hope you have visit the matador city on bakken , and hopefully you will in time see the series Matador , it is on Dr.dk
Yes, but does it have English subtitles?
Another great open air museum is the Middelaldercentret (Medieval center/museu
) at Falster - (2 to 2 and a half hours south of Copenhagen)
They have reconstructed massive trebuchets they shoot with and in the summer, they have jousting tournaments with armored knights.
The whole center I very historical , so all costumes actors are wearing there is proper hand made , as is the armor pieces of the knights and soldiers - also everything is kept in High-Medieval (1350-1400 ish) period style - so it won’t look funny and confusing as people dressing for other Renaissance/Medieval fairs
Oh , and also check out Lejre !! (close to Roskilde)
Same concept but from Neolithic period (stone age) up till ‘Viking age’ or early medieval period
Since you like Dyrehaven so much you should really try and catch the Hubertus Jagt. It's on November 7th this year. It's not an actual hunt, as in they are not hunting animals, it's a steeplechase and one of the hurdles is Magasindammen, which is a pond they have to land in after a jump. Some riders always ends up in the water each year at that hurdle.
Oh I've always wanted to see a steeplechase! We will definitely have to check this out. Thanks for telling us about it 😊 - M
yyyaayy, other Amazing Race fans !!! i have seen all the US seasons and special seasons, all the AR canada, Asia, australia and aussie/NZ and ofc some of the european editions aswell ;)
oohhh did i mention i love Amazing Race ??
Alcohol is a meal!!! congratulations, you are now danish, hahahaha
Have you tried visiting Jutland. Bunker museum and a Stjerneskud at the harbor in Hanstholm :)
We have, but we need to see more. Haven’t been to the west coast.
Spring/summer/autumn be the best thing about Denmark
Like the winter as well as long as there are snow.
Hate the winter when it’s just cold and rainy.
Hi. This is your backyard. I love this place.
U should visit Ringsted at some point! (Ringsted used to be the capital of Denmark, some of the elder/1st (ish) kings are buried here.) Sct bendts church is built around 1160, and is the first chuch built in bricks, instead of copplestone. :) Not much from difference from KBH tho, Denmark be flat and very alike wether u be north/south/east/west
If you guys like food with mushrooms, Dyrehaven is a perfect place to go searching for them. But you have to start early in the season, since you´ll not be the only ones out looking :) Obviously, find someone who knows what is safe to eat and what isnt, if you dont know yourself ;)
We definitely want to try this sometime but, yeah. We'd like to not accidentally kill ourselves too so we'd definitely go with an experienced forager
Rart at se jer rundt i Danmark ❤️
And hello BRISKET!!!!!!!!!!! More BRISKET!
1st! lol dont wanna make this awkward tho haha. Kudos to just slinging the danish out there, feel like thats the only way to actually get comfortable anough to speak it fluently without hesitation. Keep it up, and u'll be comfortable speaking it sooner rather than later!
I love Frilandsmuseet - partly because my great-great-great-grandmother's childhood home is there now... (It's the watermill here: natmus.dk/museer-og-slotte/frilandsmuseet-det-gamle-danmark/huse-og-gaarde/moeller/ellested-vandmoelle/ ) And she, Anne Kirstine Larsdatter, is very close to me. Literally. The back of one of her bonnets was framed back in the 1930s, and it's now hanging on my wall just behind my desk. (White hand-embroidery on lace, framed on a blue backing, though I don't know what backing the original bonnet had.)
That is cool!
There's somewhat of a saying in danish, at least at my university: 3 beers to a full meal. So drink 3 beers, which is way cheaper than a meal, and you will be full as if eating a full meal :) Not that I know any of that, I hate beer :)
Have you guys changed camera gear? The video quality is excellent.
Not that it was bad before..!
New streaming gear?
An Atem Mini perhaps?
Still using the same camera but I got a new wide angle lens recently. I’m also getting a little better with lighting.
I grabbed a stream deck, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work properly with obs (encoding software) on the new M1 Mac. So I won’t get to use it tonight.
@@TravelinYoung I know the Blackmagic Atem Mini isn't cheap, but it just works. It's a very popular unit for streamers on RUclips etc.
Ah, cool. I don’t know yet how often we will do streams. Depends on how it goes tonight :).
Her er en sjov én. I det færøske hus som står ude i Frilandsmuseet plejede min mor at kravle rundt på gulvet da hun var ung pige. Hun husker endda da det blev pillet ned og sendt til DK....
Miranda i don't know if its the same thing you're looking for, but check out Stof 2000 at Frederiksborggade 26, 1360 København
Krenkerup øl is produced at Krenkerup gods it is situated on Lolland really Worht a visit
Yeah, I definitely want to check it out!
You should go to
Frederiksdal Kanoudlejning and rent a Canoe, then sail down Mølle åen, to Lyngby sø, that is super fun and relaxing, and it is on an hourly rental basis.
You can have a few beers and sandwiches with you,
The right way to sail, is for the woman to lie in the front facing you, an you are rowing the canoe calmly
We do that 4 - 5 times a year..
I think you have seen more of Denmark then i have the past couple of months 🤣
I don´t know why but You guys are so lovable? ;)
Q: I'm pretty new to subscribing on RUclips. Joshua's live stream tomorrow. Do I just log on to youtube, or what?
Funny you ask as right now I’m reading what I need to do to set it up right on my end. You should be able to watch it on RUclips just like a normal video, it’s just that it will be live at 19 :).
Thanks :-! I'll be there :-) !
The white deers in Dyrehaven are not albino but a white variant of the ordinary red deer
Ah! You are right. :) should have said leucistic. Still cool to see though!
@@TravelinYoung yes...and actually a bit more interesting. The white deers are all descended from 12 animals that were a gift to king Christian the 6th from August of Sachsen in 1737....and now we export to the rest of the world where the white variant is very popular
Those deer are not native to denmark btw. Imported for hunt in the middleages.
Alkohol som et måltid! Det er ikke helt ved siden af, øl bliver af nogen omtalt som flydende smørebrød.
Would also like to say that at Bakken you can have animals with you... that is not normal in every park that one is able to have your pets with you.
In dyrehaven in Århus the deer will let you pet them
u'll love djurs and fårup sommerland
This is actually the first time I saw deer near Bakken. I thought they just called it "dyrehave" for old times sake!
Lol
Which dog breed is Brisket? He looks like my family's labradoodle! Similar size, and very similar fur!
He's a Havanese! It's a big change from having very large dogs for the last 20 years!
@@TravelinYoung I understand completely! My family had two big dogs, a Landseer and a Leonberger, before we got a little labradoodle. We still have our Leonberger, so it wasn't a complete change!
I suggest you look into Møns Klint 😀⛰️
Definitely the first place we go when all is open again.
@@TravelinYoung Just don't go to close to the edge
@@TravelinYoung it’s outside think it should be open. But go there when it’s good weather
A beer = et stykke smørrebrød, so it was said years ago.
Ah yes. Frilandsmuseet right in my back yard. Remember to bring a child to get discount on the entry :D 70kr for a adult, only 60kr if you have a child with you :D
And then 30kr for an icecream for the kid, and you saved nothing :D
What if one of us acts like a child? 😂
@@ludvigdreng6315 ofcourse you have saved your ears for 10 min of a child asking when you they get an icecream ;-)

5:12 nudists?
They usually are at that end of the beach.
To bad you didn’t go there Monday or Tuesday before Easter. The weather was like summer.
loooooovvveee
Come to north Jylland,, we will give a room and food.. we whant to show you the Old Denmark
The deer are wild deer, so don't get too close. They can attack you!
Not really except in the mating season. At that time you have to stay at some distance and not to provoke them.
Please ask Maya how to pronounce "Krenkerup" 😂
