      +Kerensa Birch yeah definitely he would have been exactly like this (I'm italian and I "know" him - meaning I've been following him for ages), just see how genuinely happy he was when Nicola Piovani won for best score, he couldn't stay put in his chair, shouted 'bravo, bravo' , was all excited... that's just who he is. Now of course he's older and he is more a producer and an ambassador of the italian culture than a director / actor (he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature in 2007 for example), but you couldn't restrain him in any way before he turned at least 50, it's just who he is.. if you watched his 1994 movie The Monster, which is just a funny movie, no deep stuff or anything but seriously hilarious, you know what I mean.

    Life Is Beautiful was and still is an amazing foreign film.. Benigni deserved this.. This film ran for 54 weeks at the theater that I worked at, and was continually selling out for 48 of those weeks, probably still one of the top 5 foreign films I have ever seen. Tom Hanks was certainly deserving also for Saving Private Ryan, I believe the academy got this one right

    Ok! Tra i nominati Benigni non era certo il più bravo. Ma evidentemente, la giuria ha tenuto conto di altri parametri oltre alla bravura tecnica. Quello che deve fare un attore è emozionare. Riuscire a farlo attraverso il corpo, le espressioni, gli sguardi, al di là della lingua con la quale si recita, e arrivare comunque pienamente allo spettatore straniero è cosa meno semplice di ciò che si pensi. Questa è stata la grandezza di Benigni in questo film. Un'interpretazione fisica. Energica. Irresistibile. La sua espressività. il suo estro, sono stati universali. Un linguaggio, oltre la parola, oltre la lingua, facilmente comprensibile da tutti i Paesi in cui è stato distribuito e dove ha riscosso grande successo di pubblico e critica. Ma in questo, noi italiani, se vogliamo, siamo davvero bravi. Non a caso la prima non anglofona in assoluto a vincere in questa categoria fu un italiana, la Magnani, seguita poi dalla Loren. Nessun altro attore, o attrice, di lingua non inglese c'era riuscito. Ci siamo riusciti noi.

    • @valeriovinodsilverii2753
      @valeriovinodsilverii2753 5 лет назад +35

      @stefanosimoncini solo adesso vedo questo tuo commento, che mi chiarisce la tua risposta all'altro mio commento nel video della vittoria come miglior film. Pur comprendendo ora cosa tu volessi dire, non ti nego una certa perplessità.
      Perché fare un intervento di natura "politica" su un commento che verte su un aspetto artistico? Io qui stavo celebrando il Benigni personaggio nella sua veste di attore e artista.
      Tuttavia, ammesso e concesso il tuo intervento, volevo risponderti.
      Anch'io avevo letto di questa critica mossagli da qualcuno. Benigni nel film, se non ricordo male, non specifica in quale campo vengano deportati i protagonisti. Nell'immaginario collettivo Auschwitz è il campo di concentramento simbolo, essendo anche un campo di sterminio e uno dei più grandi (se non il più grande) di tutti. Associare il campo del film ad Auschwitz è stato automatico per molti. Egli ha però dichiarato, in più di un'intervista, che il nome (Guido) e , in parte, la situazione vissuta dal suo personaggio erano ripresi dalla storia dello zio di sua moglie, Nicoletta Braschi, realmente internato e morto nel campo di Mauthausen. Questo campo, come altri nel sud della Germania, fu liberato dagli Americani. Allora, al limite, si può ipotizzare la vicenda dell'internamento sia ambientata a Mauthausen. Quindi, non credo si possa sostenere con tanta sicurezza che Benigni volesse strizzare l'occhio all' Academy, vendendosi. Benigni era e mi sembra tutt'ora un comunista convinto. Io davvero credo che neanche si aspettasse tutto quel successo. Ma su questo, nemmeno io posso metterci la mano sul fuoco. E sinceramente non mi interessa. Da qui il mio commento che andava più sull'aspetto artistico della sua performance da attore. Tanti altri artisti sono stati dei paraculi e gente di dubbia personalità e moralità. Per me quello che conta è ciò che ci lasciano.
