Достойных внимания аппаратов было не так много... Советую сайт rw6ase.narod.ru там много информации по звуковой аппаратуре ссср. Цифровой звук тоже очень хороший. У меня есть проигрыватель CD Audio на платформе SANYO (Вега ПКД 122С), отлично звучит в связке с ламповым усилителем Прибой 75УМ-104С.

Not to be captain obvious here, but the Polivoks seems to have a much rougher and more industrial sound, whereas the Minimoog is smoother like an electric liquid. However, to me that roughness adds a bit of charm. Plus it's like a 3rd of the price from what I've seen.
The Polivoks may be cheaper to buy, but I think the Moog will be cheaper (and easier) to maintain. As much as I love the Polivoks, I think that aspect of it will probably always prevent me from owning one.

Ну и я свои пять копеек внесу. На мой взгляд, Муг звучит чуть богаче (нажористей), "попсовей" и менее серьёзно. Поливокс - сдержанней, интеллигентней, суше, отрешённей от земного. Ни один из этих синтезаторов не лучше другого. Просто они разные, да и всё.
Nice sound battle! At first I had it in my mind that the Moog would wipe the floor with the Polivoks but after watching this I think the Polivoks not only held itself but in some places had some really nice finishes and had a richer filter and it definitely has its own distinct sound like the Moog does. I would certainly have no issue using a Polivoks.

Естественно он работал у нас в доме культуры, ну а мы как дети, крутились вокруг него; это был наш первый синтезатор, до этого были только электроорганы, а тут возможность даже внутрь заглянуть. Короче, между делом, он рассказал, что схема Альтаира, это практически полностью содранная схема Mini Moog, но на наших деталях. Кстати, у Альтаира даже основные узлы скомпонованы так же, как на Mini Moog. И, так как наши микросхемы были похожи только по функционалу, а по мощности многие из них далеко не дотягивали до фирменных, поломки этих инструментов были довольно частыми, так что этот мастер, так же как и его коллеги был очень востребованным человеком. Ну и, вот эти все Поливоксы, Алисы, Альтаиры, Аэлиты, ну и еще, Бог его знает под какими названиями они были, базировались на схеме Moog, с некоторыми модификациями.
Большинство совдеп синтов были или полными, или частичными клонами Муга, как минимум, фильтр почти везде был Муговский, Но Поливокс, именно чисто совдеп разработка, как и все остальные формантовские синты
What a great idea. I watched your excellent video on the Russian synth yesterday and thought that sounds very much like a mini Moog. It does very much. think the Moog won slightly on the sweep, slightly thicker. Well done. I love your videos. just makes me sad I don't have them Haa.
In 1993 I bought a broken Polyvox for $ 10 and did not want to repair, I thought the analogue was dead and the "welcome digital" - came to the world ... :-)
Never heard of a Polivoks before but I personally think I prefer it to the Mini for most sounds demonstrated. I must do some research into this synthesizer
Everyone says its the Polivoks Filter that makes it sound the way it does: In actuality, there's a tiny exponential Sawtooth on every waveform, so your "squarewave" has a very steep and short triangle at the start of it, and your sawtooths have an odd exponential curved peak. It's the oscillator IC throwing a fit basically.
It emits a very short pulse on each cycle but I’m not so sure it is even audible. When I upgraded the op-amps it was mostly gone, yet I could not hear the difference.

I feel like the minimoog has a much wider range in the filter, and is just a bit louder & more abrasive. I bet it's better for cutting thru a mix. As far as the polivoks goes, to me the voice sounds softer. Once it gets out of bass territory it really sounds beautiful, sorta reminds me of a monopoly/polysix. They compliment each other imo, gotta have both lol.

I liked Polyvox bassy and warm sounds more. Chimes were cleaner and better on Moog. I would say Polyvox is a bit "coarser" and Moog more "polished". Both sound nice.
Would be interesting to do a single/double blind test and see who can distinguish which synth is being played. Me thinks there would be a bit of surprise for everyone. ;)
The decision shouldn't be based on this test alone. This is showicasing the synths head-to-head as "all features being equal"... but anyone who knows, they aren't.. The polivoks can do things the mm cannot, and vice versa. so the only conclusion? GET BOTH! :D BUT, I think the Polivoks, utilizing it's entire feature set, is a more interesting sound than the MM. The resonance of the MM filter is smoother and more "whistle" like. The polivoks is just screaming and dirty.
Both synths sound awesome! I have a mini Moog and it's a pleasure to play and use in a song.When you use it in the context of a song it doesn't matter what synths you use just as long as the sound you're looking for is there.
+RetroSound It gets really hard to compare analog synths because so many of them can be programmed to sound virtually the same. This video will be destined to get views though. My Minimoog V Voyager video got hundreds of views in a 24 hour period haha.
Поливокс отлично звучал в связке с Фаэми-1 М и с Юностью -21 : один монофонический солирующий синтезатор, а другой - полифонический. А у второго клавишника на стойке ТОМ 1510 ( или другая пиано стринг- машина, например Vermona piano- string) и какой-нибудь электроорган - лучше, если это Эстрадин- Солярис или Vermona Formation.

I personally felt like the model D was the American A Clockwork Orange, good and a classic. The polyvox is more like the original version, the same but with a little something extra that changes the tone of the whole story and is an almost addendum.
Hallo Marko ! Moog is more creamy with many harmonics...the Polivok is more sharp, with harsh rough sounds. Into my ears imao ! Both are very different and it's cool to have one of each. Great video btw . Greetings !

Moog is a very poetic & extremely musical machine. Поливокс is cold, rough & stone as Soviet sickle and hammer. If there is a doomsday outside, I'd prefer to play a Soviet machine. And Moog - for all other peaceful days =)
Great battle! Never had the MM (yet), but have the Polly. Yep, it needs a lot of attention, tweaking, tuning and soldering, but it's really worth it. Awesome synth. Have you done the temperature stability ajusting on yours? As his creator said, it's really helps making Polly stable. I can prove that.

+RetroSound Kuzmin once said that Polly's unstability is the factory fault. Every synth was supposed to be properly tuned on the factory. But nobody really cared about it.
Realize I got to hurry up getting my Polivoks together (threw out all caps and potentiometers and had new ones soldered in place). Also realize I have to hurry up assembling my Concertmate MG-1 after replacing potentiomers and switches. This comparison was really great but it’s down to personal taste, actually, and In my humble opinion, both instruments sound GREAT!
The filters of both instruments are almost identical. First of all, in this battle, the fact that Minimoog has three oscillators won, and Polyvox - only two. Polivoks is a budgetary Lo-Fi hybrid of Minimoog and Odyssey without FM, ring modulation and Hi-Pass filter. I like the sound of the Minimoog filter more, the Moog has a pitch and modulation wheel, but, nevertheless, it doesn’t have the Sample and Hold wave - this can be realized only in their modular synthesizers or with an external controller

The higher registers on the Polivoks don't compare to the Moog but the low-mids and low filter sounds on the Russian Machine had more character imo
The big Question here is: How many People can hear the difference in a mix. I can sure not. I Love sweeps of both! 💭🎼👍💐

Не знаю, может компьютерные колонки передают не весь спектр, но мне показалось, что звучание Минимуг более пресное. Звук у Поливокс более насыщенный.
У них разный спектр частот.

i own a polivoks and to my hears the pure waveforms have unusual harmonics specially the triangle wave when compared to other analog gear i have.

Polivoks is more harsh and "industrial". Minimoog sounds very simple, like they have same sound, but Polivoks is processed by some FX.
first time i hear about this synth called polivoks! Sounds good and almost equal moog, but i luv the sharp and fit sound of moog!

Муг появился на много раньше...но за образец был взат минимуг...но схемотехника другая...смотри видосы создателя Поливокса...

I do like the Polivoks too, though - it is its own thing ... and a flavour I like. :)
Polyvoks reminds me of CAT Octave, moog-like, but not quite the personality
The decision shouldn't be based on this test alone. This is showicasing the synths head-to-head as "all features being equal"...
but anyone who knows, they aren't..
The polivoks can do things the mm cannot, and vice versa.
so the only conclusion? GET BOTH! :D
BUT, I think the Polivoks, utilizing it's entire feature set, is a more interesting sound than the MM. The resonance of the MM filter is smoother and more "whistle" like. The polivoks is just screaming and dirty.

Both synths sound awesome! I have a mini Moog and it's a pleasure to play and use in a song.When you use it in the context of a song it doesn't matter what synths you use just as long as the sound you're looking for is there.
Something obvious, but incredible for MiniMoog to stand on the same level as Polivox!

They are definitly not the same but sound similar. The Polivoks sounds just a bit more harsher though which makes it the better synth for me.
+derLPMaxe yes here with identical sound programs sounds similar. the PV is really a beast.
+RetroSound It gets really hard to compare analog synths because so many of them can be programmed to sound virtually the same. This video will be destined to get views though. My Minimoog V Voyager video got hundreds of views in a 24 hour period haha.

Поливокс отлично звучал в связке с Фаэми-1 М и с Юностью -21 : один монофонический солирующий синтезатор, а другой - полифонический. А у второго клавишника на стойке ТОМ 1510 ( или другая пиано стринг- машина, например Vermona piano- string) и какой-нибудь электроорган - лучше, если это Эстрадин- Солярис или Vermona Formation.

Da stehen sich ja zwei hübsche Schlachtschiffe gegenüber! Die beiden Klassenfeinde von damals , einer brachialer wie der andere.
Der Moog drückt halt etwas mehr, aber der Poly steht ansonsten in Punkto Sound-Charme in nichts nach.

I personally felt like the model D was the American A Clockwork Orange, good and a classic. The polyvox is more like the original version, the same but with a little something extra that changes the tone of the whole story and is an almost addendum.

Moog is more creamy with many harmonics...the Polivok is more sharp, with harsh rough sounds.

I first encountered a polivoks when i saw "Collide" in concert, Such a rich sound and just barely out of my price range.
Saving up for one tho
I simply just love the dirtier sound of Polivoks. Definitely getting myself one if I can just find one for sale and happen to have the money for it when I do.
You know what would be awesome, if there was a studio like this where I could rent some time and play some awesome vintage gear!

А по мне, так наш как раз теплее, с явной сатурацией, у муга больше верхов и прозрачности
Moog is a very poetic & extremely musical machine.
Поливокс is cold, rough & stone as Soviet sickle and hammer.
If there is a doomsday outside, I'd prefer to play a Soviet machine.
And Moog - for all other peaceful days =)

Great battle! Never had the MM (yet), but have the Polly. Yep, it needs a lot of attention, tweaking, tuning and soldering, but it's really worth it. Awesome synth.
Have you done the temperature stability ajusting on yours? As his creator said, it's really helps making Polly stable. I can prove that.

This is the official site of the Polyvoks' creator Vladimir Kuzmin. I suppose you can mail him the questions about Polly, if you have some. Vladimir is quite open for conversation.
+RetroSound Kuzmin once said that Polly's unstability is the factory fault. Every synth was supposed to be properly tuned on the factory. But nobody really cared about it.

What is the year of release of this Minimoog? Polivoks is 1983, I guess Moog is at least 5 years earlier, typical for US vs USSR technology.

Realize I got to hurry up getting my Polivoks together (threw out all caps and potentiometers and had new ones soldered in place).
Also realize I have to hurry up assembling my Concertmate MG-1 after replacing potentiomers and switches.
This comparison was really great but it’s down to personal taste, actually, and In my humble opinion, both instruments sound GREAT!

Moog filter wins hands down.
The filters of both instruments are almost identical. First of all, in this battle, the fact that Minimoog has three oscillators won, and Polyvox - only two. Polivoks is a budgetary Lo-Fi hybrid of Minimoog and Odyssey without FM, ring modulation and Hi-Pass filter. I like the sound of the Minimoog filter more, the Moog has a pitch and modulation wheel, but, nevertheless, it doesn’t have the Sample and Hold wave - this can be realized only in their modular synthesizers or with an external controller
