Before watchting this review I'm just gonna say this: I really enjoyed The Mummy. It was a fun adventure with great effects, beautiful cinematography and fantastic production design that didn't fail to entertain me. Cruise was fine as a Nathan Drake like character, Annabelle Wallis was fine, so was Russel Crowe and Sofia Boutella was amazing as always. I don't understand why people are up in arms about this movie. Does it make sense all the time? No... but which movie does? I gotta say: if this is what the "worst movie of the year" looks like (according to surprisingly many people) then we really live in golden times and have nothing to complain about. Please everyone, watch The Room or Samurai Cop or similar movies to see what a really bad movie looks like and to readjust the jadedness that seems to have set into many of us. We are taking too many things for granted and more and more fail to appreciate how much work, blood and sweat goes into making a movie like The Mummy, while we sit on our asses complaining. ;)
Yeah, I keep my fingers crossed and hope that the Dark Universe isn't dead yet. But I also think that the Bride of Frankenstein doesn't have enough pull to draw in a big audience. So postponing it and possibly doing another monster first would be the smart thing to do. Unfortunately the Creature From the Black Lagoon won't stand a chance either, now that The Shape of Water is around. And we already had a Wolfman and a Dracula attempt recently. By the way... I enjoyed Dracula Untold as well. ;)
Just read that the director who was supposed to launch the other movies of the Dark universe left the project and Universal is suspending all the planned movies because of the poor reception of the Mummy at the box office
I got hit by the bullet. Luckily it only grazed me (caught a matinee a week and a half after opening). I left the theater not really feeling anything. Like you said, it couldn't pick a theme. The sidekick character was terrible and unnecessary, the humor didn't land and we didn't get any chemistry between the characters. The stunt work on the plane was cool, and some of the special effects were interesting. The rest of it felt like exposition, sand and Tom Cruise yelling and running from things. I went home and watched the Brendan Fraser version. Have a good night, guys!
I have seen him yesterday and ................. enjoy it. Actors work well together and have fun. Well made movie, not Tom Cruise best but not his worst. 🇳🇱💖🇺🇸✌
I saw this in the cinema, I found the mummy very disappointing, bland, unfunny, unscary, noisy, silly, muddled tone, I actually laughed out loudly at one part, which everyone in the cinema was looking at me funny, as it was meant to be scary, the swimming mummy zombies things - I just burst into hysterics, my friends started laughing too, and soon the whole cinema was, all because I found something so stupidly ott funny! Watching it again (which I won’t) I probably won’t find it funny (might of fallen asleep by that part) But no a below average movie The Brendan Fraser one was at least fun, and funny and well paced in comparison Great review guys !!
The end part where the sidekick comes back he just says "thanks for bringing me back to life and everything.." like death was a walk in the park.. what!? Bullshit! This movie is shit!
FYI, I also enjoyed Gods of Egypt. It's entertaining crap, in it's own way.
4! I enjoyed it, although I don't agree that it took itself seriously. There were so many tongue in cheek scenes that they couldn't have!
1999. The year The Brendan Frasier Mummy came out. And fun fact- it came out over a month after The Matrix was release.
You NEED to see Atomic Blonde. My birthday is in the first week of January and I want a reaction video of this to be my present.

luv review, never watched movie, never will
The extras were cool.
I would love to see your opinions on Valerian City of a Thousand Planets. The Brendan Fraser Mummy was loads better than this version.
No Last Jedi trailer reaction?

Yes I did see it and the opening is the best part of the movie.
