  • TotalBilge is a long lasting, epoxy-based bilge paint specifically formulated to protect your bilge, bulkhead, and locker areas. The constant exposure to harmful marine elements like heat, humidity, mildew, grease and grime requires a superior bilge barrier solution to resist moisture and repel most oils, acids, alkyds and solvents right on the spot.
When compared to the top brand name bilge paints, TotalBilge stands up to the test. The single-component paint is easy to apply, dries quickly, and provides excellent coverage with a much harder surface finish. In addition, TotalBilge is easy to clean and does not lift, mildew, or stain over time.
Available in gray & white quarts.

What good is a "fast drying paint" that you have to wait 8 hours in between coats and have to do 3 coats with sanding and solvent wipe in between? Id rather have a slow drying paint that can be done in 1 SLOW curing coat.

Exactly how I feel. I just used Total Boat's Krypton bottom paint. They used mineral spirits rather than xylene for the solvent. It flashes off so fast the paint was drying in the roller tray, skinning over, peeling up, sticking to the roller and getting all over the surface of the hull.

What do you recommend to use on a soiled timber bilge? The timber has been exposed to oil and all other types of products for the life of the boat.(50 years old) Id like to paint the area if not to just lighten the area. regards,Mark

Why did the individual performing this demonstration not paint the metal and exposed nuts? Is there a better product for metal?

Not an expert, but generally stainless steel doesn’t rust if you keep it clean. I think dirt (or paint) allows water to stay in contact with the steel, allowing it to corrode.
I think he should have polished it, or mentioned some other treatment.

    Are the micro bubbles normal?

It depends on how you are applying paint. When using a roller, it is best to a light touch with the roller and don't over thin it. Also, tipping it with a brush will help too!
