    There are lots of small 9, 12, 15u racks you can get. And even though many things aren't rack mountable, you can always just get a rack mountable shelf. Then any items that aren't rack mountable can just sit on the shelf on top of or next to each other. Or, if you only have a couple things, the items that are rack mountable can act as a shelf for the other things. ;)

      Yup. I’m planning on a some sort of combination of a small rack as well as some DIY shelving.

    I really enjoyed this video. You're inspiring me to get a UDR and begin to tinker to get more from my network. My only issue is I want to look more into unfi protect. Will you ever think about using the unifi camera and doorbell options?

    • @TechTalkwithSamir
      @TechTalkwithSamir  Год назад

      Good question. I’m actually looking into potentially getting a few UniFi protect cameras but I will likely upgrade to an UDM SE before that to ensure I have a larger hard drive accommodate recordings. Currently I’m using a LOREX system that is very easy to use and was a great deal at Costco so it’s not really an easy decision to switch at the moment. But I’m definitely considering it.

    Great info!! a little question.. If I need to create a new network.. Thinking about this.. Dream Machine Special Edition for the controller + Access Point U6 Pro ( or maybe ap u6 mesh) to provide wifi for my office + Access Point AC In-Wall / Single Unit to the rooms (where I already have wired cables).. + Access Point AC Mesh / Single Unit to mesh (wireless to the garden). Any recomendation?.. or maybe just go with the dream router and the in wall with the repeater?

    Unplugg the gpon module from your ISP router and plug it in to the udm pro wan 2, it will work and grab a public ip, i have the fiber cable plugged in strait to the udm pro or Udm se i have the fiber cable plugged in via gpon fibre module to the udm pro since day 1 when i got it 2 years ago that way you dont have to deal with isp equipment at all

    • @TechTalkwithSamir
      @TechTalkwithSamir  Год назад

      What ISP do you have? As far as I know AT&T in the US doesn’t allow that.

      @ShandidyTechTips Год назад +1

      @@TechTalkwithSamir I have Telus here in Canada and they said It is not allowed as well but it worked when i tried it, i saw you have the similar setup setup like me from the isp, at the back of the isp modem there is a removable gpon fibre module, remove it and plugg it in to your udm se wan 2 port sfp+ port and change the wan setting to the opposite primary wan2 and failover wan1 and it should grab a public ip address try it and let me know

    • @TechTalkwithSamir

    Was thinking man what a cabling nightmare... I would live to clean that all up for him. But didn't want to be that guy. Get yourself a small rack and you can add rack shelves to put your no rack mount equipment on. Also do yourself a favor and get a keystone patch panel much easier to move things around if you make any changes!

    • @TechTalkwithSamir
      @TechTalkwithSamir  Год назад +2

      I personally would get a non UniFi rack for the most compatibility. UniFi gear will mount on a standard rack but non UniFi gear won’t mount on a UniFi tool less rack without tinkering around so for racks I would get a standard rack that has universal compatibility. I am personally planning on getting a standard rack down the road when I do my clean up.
