      I used to make my comic shop owner pay at least 10% of market for anything he kept from collections I bought. If he refused he couldn’t add the item to his collection until we started making a profit on the buy

    I would think the pallet deal was a great thing for your business model a few years ago. Now, you've leveled up. If the cash is there, spending more $ on collections and saving more time on processing is the way to go. You can fit in more collections in the time it takes to process controllers and headsets.
    You can likely hire a small seperate pallet team, pay them to process, and then have 1 guy list them once the majority is processed through. With the small initial investment in the pallet, and if you hire younger people and pay them well, but still well less than a main crew guy, you don't need to rapidly turn the pallet over until it's processed completely. The benefit also being of potentially finding new great employees who in the future can stay on and join the main team.
    The main goal being Chase doesnt ever work, does videos, and reaps in the moolah.

    I think you need a mix of garage sale and collections. Paying collections fraction of Price Charting is paying more than Garage sales, Thrift Store, Flea Markets, etc but you may not always get games or items you want to sell in those areas so having a stead flow of the collections will make the smaller profit but a steady income. I don't think questionable pallets are ideal due to labor hours put into testing, cleaning, unboxing, and everything else not to mention having some of the merchandise be thrown away or recycled so at a negative on them.

  • @Retro_Treasures
    @Retro_Treasures 5 месяцев назад

    The risk on these large buys is also much higher than the low risk sourcing (thrift & yard sales). You'll be targeted more and more by scammers, such as some of the fake pokemon stuff you've received recently. I can practically sense the stress/anxiety coming off the screen sometimes. Just remember this ain't wall street - you don't have to constantly be in growth. Repeatable business is fine. Take a breath and enjoy your success occasionally.
    One thing I love about this channel is seeing the growth in your crew. You could have pinned them down to menial tasks and kept their skill level low. Instead you've embraced bringing them up in skill/knowledge even if that could lead to them breaking off on their own. That's a sign of true integrity. The level of teamwork and growth on display here is something all work teams could aspire to - reselling or 9-5.
    Thanks for all the great content!

    Hi guys. First of all thank you for all the business content you make here. One idea, for your business is to create your own online way of selling. Not a webpage, more like a portal for buy/sell videogames. You will save the porcentage that ebay/amazon etc. takes. I think that with the ammount of followers you have it will be a great investment to have for the mid-long term.

    Do both, but generally you want to “Pile it high, sell it low” ie, lots of stock turn over, lower profits. Collections make most sense there.

  • @MF-zh4ig
    @MF-zh4ig 5 месяцев назад +1

    I think you need to do a mix of models however I’d suggest hiring a business consultant to review your business and then provide you with the best route to go down. Or get in touch with even bigger sellers and pay them to review your business model and make recommendations on how to potentially better organise your space (you’re currently wasting a lot of height). Especially if you want to grow the business by another 50%, a bit of investment into the business model as well as any training/automation that can be done for you and the boys.
    Although you’ve done great, you can always learn from other businesses.
    You ideally want a mix of low profit fast sellers to keep the cash flowing but also some high profit slower sellers that give you a jump every so often and not diversifying too much. Consistently is key!

  • @boofarama
    @boofarama 5 месяцев назад +1

    You need to start utilizing debt to make these purchases. If you are purchasing as much as you are ($1MM - $2MM) in purchases a year, and have the consistent cash flow to pay all of it off immediately, you're leaving $20-$50k on the table, that's a nice vacation ;)

    I wonder if this spring you guys will decide that garage sales are too slow of a method for your business. This winter you guys have seemed to get a major increase of collection buys. Between cheap loads of inventory through pallets and $15k collection delivered to your door, I can’t see how garage sales would be worth your time. Now I know it’s a huge hobby of yours and how you started all this, but I don’t see how one item or one small bundle here and there will feel worth it! But that is a part of your success.

    First off congratulations on reaching the seller level when you are able to buy multiple massive collections at any time. I am still at that level 1-2 where I source from garage sales and flea markets mostly.
    I think the real question that you have to ask yourself is how much time do you want to dedicate to making great content for your viewers vs straight buying collections and maximizing profits that way. To me personally I love your yard sale challenge videos because you never know what you are going to find. Vs the content pleasure of hey let's unbox this next collection and there's another sealed Zelda or pokemon. Although just seeing that stuff is amazing. It takes away the thrill of the hunt. But at the same time you can't always depend on garage sales to cover total operating cost especially with employees. All in all you guys set the bar as to what a legitimate resell business should be. I am nowhere close to your level but you definitely inspire me to do so. You are proof that it can be done in 2024 and I thank you for that.

    I really wish for some non-gaming stuff in the future. Last episodes were mostly just some collection buys, which is awesome for you but not as interesting to see. I subscribed for the Hobby Shop Ron stuff as well as the 10$ Project from Al Pal and Skyguy because it was always different things to see, funny people at garage sales and in general more interesting to watch. Hope that's coming back soon!

    in the end, you will choose what is best for your business and you are already flexible in which way you choose to sell your goods, in business and life I always say the more options you have the better the outcome. but you also come across as a businessman and leader of your staff, taking responsibility for the flow of profit and not nailing your staff so they are burnt out trying to keep up. you can and will put the skids on when needed, good common sense all around. may this year help to improve your business the way you wish to.

    Keep this type of video coming please! With respect for the pallets of accessories, buy fewer at one time and space those purchases out over time. Maybe do a few accessories only Whatnot auctions at really desirable prices to move them in bulk to your business audience. Diversity of inventory is working for you guys, just move that product in the least manpower consuming way/ways.

    Open a little store! Overhead will be a bit higher because you will have a physical location, but you will be able to move a lot of inventory to people quickly since you have absolutely no problem sourcing anymore. Sourcing good stuff has got to be the most difficult aspect of reselling. A physical location has downsides of course, but listing, shipping and doing all that is also time intensive and not always the most efficient. Doesn’t need to be a huge shop like Retro Rick’s but just big enough to display some of what you have coming in so you can atleast move some stuff more quickly, so you don’t fall behind your incoming inventory and most importantly don’t need to slow down that flow of new stuff.

    Greetings from the UK. Finding stock is my main issue. I deal in vintage toys. The size of the collections you have access to, is a once in a lifetime event for a UK seller. The UK would fit into texas 3 times over. There simply isn't the volume over here.
    As for which model to go with in your situation. My advice would be both. The key is organising. A stack of 5 month old inventory would blow my mind.
    Keep up the great work. I know we don't know each other but I'm super proud of how successful you have become. All the best, Paul.

      I was thinking the same thing. Get the low dollar, more work items on the back burner to go through when you have downtime, if deals don’t get made and need to list items. You have to tier your items and A items you work on immediately then move to B items that are good but may take time and the C that are most time consuming/less dollar value. It’s always best to do a mix
