thankfully we solved the housing supply crisis 30 years ago by removing all the red tape like mandatory building progress inspections by all those lazy good-for nothing council ( public servants) building inspectors and their finicky rules about not building houses that will fall down after the 36 Month warrantee. . Private builders with their private inspector mates do it so much better nowadays don't they ? The government should simply give the negative gearing benefit to home owners. This not only makes buying a home more affordable, but also limits the amount of price gouging and bubbles (from a single landlord defaulting on dozens of homes)

We do all sorts of property maintenance and renos. We seem to have a run on of bathrooms in the last 2'ish years. The stuff you discover is amazing!!! But!... The owners, a lot of the time, have unrealistic expectations and imagined outcomes as well. Granted, though, you'd expect your shower base to keep it's water to itself. 🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣

It just comes down to price. If they pay for an engineer to be on site all the time during the build then it will jack up the cost of each build by $50k. However, it will guarantee that each build will comply with the Australian standards and result in a solid build. At the moment it only happens on critical infrastructure like the construction of railways/bridges.

Heavy penalties should apply- but no they are desperate for housing (another problem created by them) they turn a blind eye to this joke of an industry. We are looking at coming back to Australia to retire but this is a real wake up call about builders (we still have a flat in Sydney). I'd never settle as they simply haven't performed the contract. Luckily I still have a fantastic corporate lawyer in Melbourne - he's am amazing at keeping things out of court (normally the best approach) but in this instance I'd let him off the leash (it's impressive and frightening to see).

I think the problem these days is that there so many legit companies, that are handing out certifications to people, who have no experience whatsoever in that specific field. Take the PM lady for example, the PM is purely responsible for the output product, that is the choice of builders used for the build. If she Tryna cut costs, by using sketchy builders, then that's going to be the case. My belief is to never cut costs when it comes to essential part of a building, would that be framing, electrical, plumbing, and safety. - I really enjoy your videos because it shades a light on these "Fresh" looking buildings, only to find out they are non-compliant. I am based in NZ, and shit is so shady here is unbelievable.
Don’t people do research on these companies before going ahead with builds. I provide my clients with phone numbers to previous clients and have even had some physically inspect my other projects which is perfectly fine with me. Do your due diligence people, I always say if a business advertises then they are prop not great with the amount of work out there at the moment. Or people need to have the backbone to post bad reviews.
The contractors work hard - but they're uneducated/inexperienced people just part of the working class - the builders and projects managers making the big bucks are to blame #1 as they have the authority to sign off - instead of rectifying issues they prefer to rush things out the door and cut corners given the chance

like my place i started renting 30yo brand new... Silicon fixes everthing.. even the shower, which leaked into the bedroom for years.. the toilet never half flushes, hotwater overflow leaked into the hallway. pile of plasta left on the sink, plasta all over the cupboards, glue everywhere on the skirting in the kitchen. slippery tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. hotplates that work maybe , just hit them and they start working. oven that cant keep temp correctly. lights that had 'live' in a tube that the lamp heated untill it shorted to GND, then BANG! Light fittings that just stunk. water leaks coming though the roof. unsufficent guttering .I called em to fix things so many times i gave up. we called it 'Faulty towers'. It got an Award. so from them on anything dodgy i just called it 'Award winning'.
I'm about to buy an apartment. And truly feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. New builds are rubbish . Older are ticking levy time bombs.. I believe low quality migrant work done for 'no standards' overseas builders, is a big part of the problem . That and bullshit inspections.

I think the problem these days is that there so many legit companies, that are handing out certifications to people, who have no experience whatsoever in that specific field. Take the PM lady for example, the PM is purely responsible for the output product, that is the choice of builders used for the build. If she Tryna cut costs, by using sketchy builders, then that's going to be the case. My belief is to never cut costs when it comes to essential part of a building, would that be framing, electrical, plumbing, and safety. - I really enjoy your videos because it shades a light on these "Fresh" looking buildings, only to find out they are non-compliant. I am based in NZ, and shit is so shady here is unbelievable.

Don’t people do research on these companies before going ahead with builds. I provide my clients with phone numbers to previous clients and have even had some physically inspect my other projects which is perfectly fine with me. Do your due diligence people, I always say if a business advertises then they are prop not great with the amount of work out there at the moment. Or people need to have the backbone to post bad reviews.
The contractors work hard - but they're uneducated/inexperienced people just part of the working class - the builders and projects managers making the big bucks are to blame #1 as they have the authority to sign off - instead of rectifying issues they prefer to rush things out the door and cut corners given the chance
I am wondering whether all of these surpose trades people were they kids straight out of school as first year apprentices and trainees on their very first job with absolutely no training at all.
like my place i started renting 30yo brand new... Silicon fixes everthing.. even the shower, which leaked into the bedroom for years.. the toilet never half flushes, hotwater overflow leaked into the hallway. pile of plasta left on the sink, plasta all over the cupboards, glue everywhere on the skirting in the kitchen. slippery tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. hotplates that work maybe , just hit them and they start working. oven that cant keep temp correctly. lights that had 'live' in a tube that the lamp heated untill it shorted to GND, then BANG! Light fittings that just stunk. water leaks coming though the roof. unsufficent guttering .I called em to fix things so many times i gave up. we called it 'Faulty towers'. It got an Award. so from them on anything dodgy i just called it 'Award winning'.
I'm about to buy an apartment. And truly feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. New builds are rubbish . Older are ticking levy time bombs..
I believe low quality migrant work done for 'no standards' overseas builders, is a big part of the problem . That and bullshit inspections.
cheap unskilled labor ...hired by contractors who know nothing, the only thing they have every cut is corners ...overseen by government officials who are idiots ..= dodgy work
This is what you get with overseas builders who have set up shop here in Sydney plus with some project home builders.
People want cheap cheap.
There are very good private builders out there, but they don't advertise and they don't come cheap. And they are busy with work.
These people are hard working Australians just trying to make a living to build wealth through hard work and care for their parents and their kids. The problem is always someone else's fault. Vote or cash in? Your choice people.
