Bill Murray's performance in this film is outstanding, that moment you highlight is such a subtle change of expression yet completely conveys his thought process and realisation
To be perfectly honest, I didn't care much for Rushmore or Fantastic Mr. Fox after my first viewing of each. Now they are my two favorite Anderson movies, and I have watched them both over and over (Literally, I've finished the movie and then immediately watched it again, for both).
I have liked them initially but like them much more on subsequents. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou was one I really enjoyed much more after initial viewing.
Hey, this is my favorite movie of all time and your explanation and understanding of the film let's me know you really love it. Thanks for explaining it in a way I can let someone else see and expresses similar thoughts to me.
Bill Murray is brilliant throughout, but that split second closeup where Burt introduces himself as Max's dad and his face just goes slack. With the quiet music in the background and the cozy lighting, it's like relief washing over you.
Just watched this movie yesterday for the first time and loved it, not sure how I ever missed it. Look forward to watching it again. And props to the soundtrack, music was perfectly selected.
No really....Bravo to you for creating this piece! Splendid summary to not just my favorite Wes Anderson movie, but one of my Top 5 movies of all time. Without a doubt, this movie flows (flawlessly) better than any of Wes Anderson's works. He has a knack of being able to make me laugh, and then 5 minutes later, have me tearing up like a schoolgirl. My favorite director..
Just as I thought your taste in film film couldn't get any better, you release this video. Definitely my personal favourite Wes Anderson film, although Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Royal Tenenbaums are pretty damn good as well.
I have a constant fight with one of my film nerd friends: no matter how much I argue with him, he still thinks Max is the same jerk. "Jerks can still do nice things." The thing that bothers me about that is that by thinking he's still a jerk, I can't help but feel that my friend has completely missed the point of the movie.
absolutely excellent break down.. I loved this movie, even broke it down shot by shot to figure out the magic, why it works so well. Interesting task.Gets you inside the landscape of the film...well done and thank you! cheers
Another strong entry. Love the Community clip at the beginning to acknowledge the delay between videos. Keep up the good work, and hopefully the wait won't be as long for the next one!
The video works on mobile now! Great job by the way, I always liked Rushmore but it's been so long since I've seen it I forgot about how good it was, and a lot of the little things you talk about I never picked up on. I'll have to rewatch it soon with all these things in mind. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the awesome content!
I post this comment just before I watch your vid (but after watching a few of your commentaries) - you dig quirky films, don't you? I can dig that, but they're hard to find sometimes. The quirky film has to be interesting enough for a person who doesn't particularly "like" it the first time enjoy it enough to give it subsequent chances.
I haven't seen Seven Psychopaths yet, but it's been on my radar because I love In Bruges. I've seen Blue Velvet and really like it. If you like it, I recommend checking out Mulholland Dr (another David Lynch movie, even more surreal and challenging).
It's called Hardest Geometry Problem in the World (by Mark Mothersbaugh). It's on the Rushmore soundtrack and named after the scene for which it was written (i.e. the opening scene).

“I like your nurse’s uniform, guy”
“These are OR scrubs”
“Oh, are they?”
Greatest joke in cinema.
Saying it out loud is a guaranteed way to make me laugh, anytime.
Yeah man I cracked up so hard at that moment🤣

Anderson does make some amazing movies and I often find they are even better on subsequent viewings.

"I saved Latin. What'd you ever do?"
So glad you're back making videos again :D
I'll never see "nice to meet you Mr Fisher" without crying.
Herman meeting Max's father... the best

I think Max Fischer is alluding to that his mom was his original Rushmore, painfully sad to see a boy so lost

It’s a freaking underrated movie, great soundtrack too
Just watched this movie yesterday for the first time and loved it, not sure how I ever missed it. Look forward to watching it again. And props to the soundtrack, music was perfectly selected.
Rushmore is my favorite movie ever, I could watch it every day. 🙂

Reddit led me here via American Beauty, i relly enjoy your analysis, keep it coming ;)

*wipes tear*
I love this.
great film, I watched moonrise kingdom again the other day. Wes Anderson is so unique.

Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite, followed by Rushmore.
Well done! I watched Rushmore for the first time yesterday, and your analysis helped clear up a couple things for me.
Thank you!!! Your reviews have made me look at movies differently. Keep up the good work.
You deserve more views. Good job, sir.
At long last! Another of your glorious videos!
I'd love to see more "Movies I love and so can you" videos from you, they're awesome. Could you do one on Barton Fink ?
Another strong entry. Love the Community clip at the beginning to acknowledge the delay between videos. Keep up the good work, and hopefully the wait won't be as long for the next one!
Love this movie so much! Awesome break down. Keep up the good work
I love these great to see you still like to make them.

Thank you!
Very nice review. I will have to rewatch it soon.
welcome back, sir.
Brilliant.
I like your nurses uniform, guy.
These are O.R. scrubs
Absolute absolute fucking class
I don't care for this movie at first. Thought it was okay when I saw it the first time. But after watching it a couple of times, now I like it.
Hey, just an FYI, this video isn't available. I'm on mobile, so maybe that's the issue, but I don't really know

What's the song at 7.26?
Do you ever see seven psychopaths and Blue velvet, and if the case is yes, can you talk about what do you think about these movies

Hey, it says the video is unavailable. I'm on my phone so I don't know if it's just a mobile thing or what but I thought I'd give you a heads up.
I'm working on it. I think a copyright flag is keeping it from being available on mobile, but I'll take care of it.
What is the name of the song that plays in the beginning??
It's called Hardest Geometry Problem in the World (by Mark Mothersbaugh). It's on the Rushmore soundtrack and named after the scene for which it was written (i.e. the opening scene).
Ah, thank you! Love your videos btw :)
Is that Knives 7:54
Nope Knives is played by Ellen Wong
Great video. But maybe you could make these more concise?
Hey are you on twitter? I would love to follow you and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
@callme_Yosh
Hmm, maybe I should start tweeting about movies more often...
