    I watched this movie for the first time last night. I was given the criterion version by my APUSH teacher and me and him have constantly discussed my struggle between maintaining good grades yet the desire to create stories through writing and movies. This movie touched me personally so hard in such in impactful way. Not many movies make me stand up and say “This is the type of movie that makes me want to become a filmmaker” every movie makes me feel that way. Rushmore imo is a movie about finding the hidden layers in love and how Ms.Cross wasn’t the woman to be Max love but the key to finding the three different aspects of love in his love. To love a friend, a lover, and most importantly, his hobby/career/passion. Appleby to me was the person that represented who Max was going to be. The last shot I feel like doesn’t represent him falling back in love, but that because of his love, because of her, he has found all the love and good things in his life, the things that matter. His family life on this love spectrum as I look at it was always there but never was a new layer really introduced or explored until especially as a teenager through a crush. I think thats was Wes films have always been about, love, the different forms and odd, crazy, yet beautiful ways it comes in our lives. Lastly, Wes especially inspires me when just like him, I’m at academic probation right now in a private school, desperately wanting to be a storyteller who has been born and is being raised in Houston,TX. I’m in my Junior year right now and the only fear I have is that I will either lose my creativity or that I won’t embrace it enough, but really mostly embrace the love I have for my life and others lives.

    @uberchet2 7 лет назад +4

    This is great, but one quibble: you note correctly that Anderson attended St John's, which is where much of the Rushmore scenes were shot -- but you say so over a shot of Lamar High, not St John's. Lamar was the stand-in for Grover Cleveland in the film, and is -- hilariously -- across the street from St John's in Houston.

    • @debrahevia-collins8998
      @debrahevia-collins8998 3 года назад

      I noticed that too. I was in Houston a few weeks ago and went to see St John’s and the school actress the street.

  • @jasondworkin6597
    @jasondworkin6597 7 лет назад +2

    Note, however, that the exterior shot at 3:45 is of Mirabeau B. Lamar public high school located across the street from St. John's. See GPS 29.742111, -95.426509 on your favorite street view web site.

    • @jasonmcelweenie1371
      @jasonmcelweenie1371 7 лет назад +1

      Too right. They mislabel Lamar as St John's. It also has part of its campus next door to Lamar.

  • @portergarza6946
